Marc needs to learn to do this work himself, it is not hard. The work carried out on his bike by others was very risky and severe and didn't need to be.
Say you never traveled anywhere on your bike without saying you never traveled on your bike. If you total all tire repair shops in India, 99.9% of them use hammer and chisel (literally) to fix tires. Only dealerships have proper equipment to do repair and most of them will just schedule you for later. Most bikers on adventure can replace their tire the same hammer-chisel way.
Hi Marc, my heart was in my mouth as I watched those guys hammer away at your lovely alloy rims! But as you said, needs must. Good luck with everything from a chilly Scotland.
I can't imagine you have ever changed a trye roadside . I have over 20 years of experience fitting tyres , and I can only applaud them guys of their efforts ! Not one bend in the rim did they cause, nor did they nip the beading with them old school levers ! Beautiful workmanship..

India is really different from what is shown in western media and by many western travel vloggers. Your video doesn't even show a selective good area of a metro city...it just shows normal roads and yet it looks so beautiful and clean.
Hey :) love your travels....inner tubes are a better idea for punctures, you can just change them again if you get another puncture. The pull through stuff always starts a rip and the glue patches regularly fail too :) safe journeys
Inner tubes was a life saver for me years back on my trip to Uttaranchal. I was riding my Hyosung 650 and same situation, the guy couldn't fix the puncture, couldnt get those rare tires and idea was to use inner tubes. Even the tube wasn't the right size but it helped me get back on the road and drive back nice and slow to Delhi.

I think these kind of tyres are specifically for only few high end bikes in India, so they keep just one set and might stay long before anyone buys it, plus some rich kids owns high end bikes, so they demand more than usual. But still 35 K is outrageous.
Vredestein is originally a Dutch tyre brand (I think Maastricht) But from 2009 owned by Apollo tyres, which is Indian brand. There is also a Hungarian (very modern) production plant . I am sure quality is lower than in the Netherlands produced tyres. That’s why your rear one has given up…….good luck !

I hope your upcoming journey has lots of tarmac because those tires are going to suck out loud in the dirt. Best of luck, looking forward to seeing a new country for a change.
It’s been a while since I’ve heard “Battery… Motor…”😂 That was a serious debacle with the tires. And I would be as concerned as you with the lack of balancing. But as long as you’re not traveling at high speeds, you should be fine (I have a feeling that it worked out just fine, though 😊) Can’t wait for the next video.
On the front wheel axel, there is a pinch bolt, which squeezes the axel bool or nut. It looked like the guy undoing the axel did not loosen the pinch bolt, and forced it to undo. This could damage it and its only job is to prevent axel nut from getting undone. Also, a workshop with no proper tools, even the basic for tire changing or any form of wheel balancing? wow, crow bar and hammer damaging rims while taking tires out and again when putting new on. It seems like there they don't care much about that or have not clue how important it is for the safety at the high speed and longevity of the tires. It is an experience in its own right. 😱
Well charging couldn't stop Marc anywhere during this trip to Ladakh, which I was apprehensive about. But unfortunately the tyre couldn't hold to the vagaries of the roads in Nepal and Ladakh. Anyway your electric bike point of view this trip was successfully completed.
Would have been good to see you get tires with some offroad capability. Maybe 80/20 on/off road. They may have offered some higher puncture resistance. But I suspect that finding 17" front tires with offroad capability would be quite difficult especially in that part of India. I also think Ben did a much better job removing and replacing your tire than the "mechanics" at the shop. He certainly had better tire irons than they did. I just hope the "mechanics" didn't damage the rims with the hard hammering they did.
Awesome Marc, glad it finally worked out ok. Totally agree with you on the tyres, same type front and rear is a no brainer. Rough tyre fitters but as you said you work with what you have got. As always Marc truly appreciate you sharing your adventures with us 👍🏻🫡
Looks like tyre you bought in Bangalore are not genuine. That’s why he sold them cheap. Now you got original tyres. Glad you are back on EVE can see happiness in you that was missing when riding “Indian” Harley !! Cheers!!

I showed the puncture video to a tyre guy. The location of puncture was the real problem, because it happened in the sipes. Usually in a tubeless half moon radial Tyres puncture in the sipes is nearly impossible to repair with Tyre plugs. He advised, that tyre should have been patched from inside and tube should have been used, instead of plugs. And change the tyre at earliest opportunity. This is applicable to car tyres too. This can be a lesson for all of us. I hope the rim of the wheel is not damaged, because that can be another bigger problem
Most important things is you're rolling again with some new rubber on Eve. Saw on a site back in '21 prices were also 25-30 thousand, so sounds reasonable to me. I just zoomed out on the map and saw the challenge lying ahead of you 😱😱 Well, I can only say Happy travels and Ride Safe! (btw, will your German friends go in that direction too?) Cheers Marc,
Medium compound tyres in the rear will offer much better puncture resistance especially in indian roads but may result in a minor reduction in grip levels
Seems your motorcycle rim can take inner-tube also. Keep spare inner-tube for both the tire size, for emergency. The valve stem hole for tubeless is off-center but people have used tubes even with this situation. I would have checked with is difference between the SD and NSD, and which one would have been better for your situation. There letters make huge difference in tire. Remember there is huge difference if you are primarily riding streets or go off road, like most situations of yours.
I had tubeless tyres on my bicycle as a kid, and always thought that they're tubeless then how can they get punctured. Only to learn it from you a decade later that they can get punctured too.

Okay. Not gonna lie this video made me mega anxious. The way they belted that tyre I literally thought they were gonna crack the rim and no balancing?? Not good. I was once stuck in the Italian Alps with a blowout on a hire car. The insurance required the replacement tyre to be a Pirelli (the same as the others on the car) I managed to get the hotel to organise a local garage to come to the hotel the next day with the new Pirelli tyre. The next day came and the garage guy arrived at the hotel (we had gone skiing and had left the keys with Maria in reception) and installed the new tyre. When I got back the tyre had been replaced with another make even though I had specifically said that it needs to be a Pirelli for insurance purposes!!!! We contacted the garage guy who said there’s nothing they could do about it because they couldn’t get it and my hands were tied as we were going home the next day. On arriving back at the airport in Italy to fly home, the hire company said that the tyre that had been put on was not acceptable and that They would have to replace it and the other front tyre because they have to replace both front tyres for balance. This came at a cost of £350 and I’d already paid £100 for the tyre that had been replaced up inthe Alps. Absolute nightmare and put me off Doing any kind of transactions as far as tyre changing when travelling. I just wish people stuck to their word.
Tyres cannot rip like that unless they didn't put a steel wall in them. This was the case decades ago. I'd be worried about riding them anywhere near the worn marker if they don't have the steel structure through them.
Hi, have you try to cut off the overstanding part of the repairkit sausace? Next step, have you tried repair Milk? Why not to try to put an tube into the tyre to fix it? I wish you te best for your Trip. I like your videos. (much better than TV 😅)

I'd be worried about riding them anywhere near the worn marker if they don't have the steel structure through them.
lets goo marc !!...KEEEP GOING !!!
Hi, have you try to cut off the overstanding part of the repairkit sausace? Next step, have you tried repair Milk?
Why not to try to put an tube into the tyre to fix it?
