    I live near an airport that houses an Air National Guard transport wing. All I can say is that ever since the invasion, the military cargo planes flying in and out of the airport has increased tenfold.

Corruption is lower than in Russia and has improved steadily in recent years. It is also only slightly below average in a country comparison. And Ukraine doesn't need or want pilots. Look at the destruction in Ukraine and explain how Ukraine has destroyed Russian war machine. Get back to me after all this is said and done in the coming months. Putin, the meanass, is holding the free world hostage by way of threatening nuclear devastation on any nation who dare to intervene. There is no chance for nuclear war, there is only a "when nuclear bombs are unleashed on us! And, if Ukranians continue putting up (a very brave and courageous fight!) their winning battles, I do not doubt that asswipe, Putin, with nuke a city within Ukraine. You will notice that the NATO and EU statistics nearly parallel Ukraine's honest reportage, while US errs massively, as if attempting to do its Trumpist "both-siding."
      It was marvelous that Biden wrote that Murdoch, the Australian nazi-type, who immigrated and bought Fox, turning it into a Trumpist Putin-puppet and socially destructive disinformation outlet, was arguably the world's most dangerous man, though Rupert handed off his fascist network to his fascist son, Lachlan.
      No actual response by FCC or US government at all on ending the lie and propaganda-spewing Fox, though.

It's not a time for training programs, Ukraine needs its pilots in the fight before it's too late. Some countries do have vehicles they're familiar with but even getting those to them seems to be a challenge for Nato since they don't want to escalate tensions further with new precedents. Aircraft can be used offensively to strike deep into Russian territory, making it a risky proposition to just give them over. The whole context of the “do me a favor”-Trump-call, was Zelenskyy wanting to buy weapons to defend against Russia. They’ve been training their military heavily since Crimea, often with help from NATO-countries, they’ve been stocking up on all weapons - and they’ve had time to make plans, to mentally prepare themselves. To become a nation united in resisting. There’s a reason we saw Ukrainian grandmas making Molotov cocktails on day 2. They saw this coming.

Like the US could have sent Ukraine MiGs if they werent trying to announce it beforehand. Hopefully they can send MiGs now that the WH is being more ambiguous with their weapon shipments.

      You don’t really know if they’re not getting them, surreptitiously. You’re also assuming they have enough qualified pilots to fly all of them. Openly handing them over in total would be stupid. There isn’t a place in Ukraine where they could be stored and protected out of missile range of Russian forces. It would be best to have them in the possession of the former Soviet satellite nations where they can be protected, serviced and made ready when Ukraine loses one to combat and/or wear and tear.

    • @pdoylemi
      @pdoylemi 2 года назад +1

      Yes, it is good for close in fighting - something good to avoid when possible, but in this situation, hard to avoid. But the Javelin is nearly as portable, and is a guided, fire and forget missile rather than a rocket that simply goes where you aim. And the Javelin is WAY better in open spaces.
      But the sorts of systems you say we should provide are systems we CAN'T provide! The Ukrainians are not trained to use or maintain US anti-air and anti missile systems, and they need help NOW - not months from now. People can be trained to use javelins and stingers in an hour or two, and their forces have been using them for a long time. But when it comes to aircraft, SAM's, tanks, and many other things, we can't supply them because the Ukrainians can't use them.
      What we are doing is offering to replace some of the old Soviet equipment that the Ukrainians know how to use with new stuff in NATO nations that have a lot of that stuff. For example, there are reports that Lithuania is going to release 30 T-72 tanks in return for 15 M-1 Abrams tanks and the training to use and maintain them.
