      That's one of the things that keep me hooked on HH: they take their details serious. Most of the pronounciation of names / places is spot-on (at least where I can tell). And even for fluent speakers, switching from one pronounciation to the other in mid-senctence can be tricky.
      I especially like the slight undertone of "you might want to simmer down, because while you two have been judging entrées I've been surviving in a fascist terror regime". Not aggressive (yet), but hinting that that's an option.

    Oh dear, I wonder how Edna from London would have done instead. Or wasn`t there any food rationing going on at that time? Edna of course would have had a huge handicap compared to Hilda because even peacetime British food was inedible for starters at that time. I wonder how you could improvise on food like boiled mutton with stale cabbage and slimy potatoes, all topped with green mint sauce? Or Welsh rabbits? The mind boggles because this sort of food is mock up food to start with. But as some previous commentators have already mentioned, there was a very promising way of improving food quality for British WW2-housewifes: spreading their legs - sorry, minors present - ahem, being very friendly with US- or Canadian air force members, while daddy was fighting in the war (probably in the Royal Artillery Concert Party....). Then of course Edna could dish up a feast with white bread, American spam, American chocolate, American cookies, plenty of other food the US quartermaster would not miss, accompanied by American cigarettes, and all washed down with plenty of Coca-Cola (or even American whisky). She might even had a bun in the oven when daddy finally came home because the yanks had left her with more than just chewing gum under the chair..

    My guess is that vegans owe something of a debt to the people who had to deal with rationing

    I was wondering how did she get a rhino a tiger and a gorilla then cook it and make it into meat where did she get that from like that's what I was asking until this popped up

    Why would the zookeepers let this happen?

    • @howtubeable
      @howtubeable 4 года назад +1

      I assume it was the humane thing to do. There was no food to feed the zoo animals. There was limited food for humans. It was humane to slaughter the animals (as opposed to letting them starve to death in captivity) and let humans eat the meat.
