Looks like a fantastic operation! And everyone looked happy. Did anyone else notice how Chad knew every single employee's name? That may not seem like a big deal but having worked in a big box hardware store (orange), starting at the bottom and eventually becoming an Operations Manager, I can tell you that it is. As an employee I was thrilled that the "Big Boss" knew my name, and as the "Big Boss" I watch employees faces light up when I called them by name.

collar, a persons name is always important to them, I learned that early on in my career, each individual is unique and really appreciates it when the Big Boss calls them by their name !

This is fantastic for me. My son and his wife started liberty trailers from the ground up. Has owned it until about 2 years ago. This is very impressive.
Liberty sandblasts and powder coats. No paint.

Looks absolutely awesome good functionality except one thing and maybe this is an option you're carrying around all that diesel and it's powered by a gasoline motor? There must be some diesel motor that could be used with this rig! Which is a big drawback the whole thing is useless without that motor running. Now what about that compressor generator in the back is it run by gasoline also or is it diesel? You've got what 690 gallons of diesel and you can't get it out without carrying around a gas can which you have to remember to fill? And I do believe the way the laws are written that it is illegal for you to carry even a gallon of gas inside that trailer. I do believe that this is one very necessary and convenience item would be that it's powered by a small diesel motor. You all tell me where I'm wrong here? Otherwise it's awesome and I guess as long as you fill the gas can every time you fill the trailer with diesel I guess you're all right?

    • @farmerchris1

It is noteworthy, I think, to notice "The Man" not only knows his business but also appears that he knows his employees on a first name and on sight basis. Great episode, Mike!! When you stopped by Wes's shop of the "Watch Wes Work" channel you absolutely blew me away with your interview skills. Wes is a wizard in many disciplines but a man of few words who rarely allows his viewers more than a limited unddrstanding of what makes him tick.
Your interview with Wes answered so many questions about him, his training, background and a view of the man that one could assume but you made it easy for him to just be himself.
I think you should be scheduling more 'rainy day' interviews as you have a way of bringing the true stars of You Tube out of their channel creator persona and coax out the genuine people we admire.

About 60 years ago I worked in a metal fabricating shop. This place is STAR WARS compared to my old shop. However, 5 years ago I visited my old shop and nothing has changed. They're still doing things the same way we did 60 years ago. I recognized many of the same machines I had run back then. They had a few more modern machines but not many and they still going strong with twice as many employees without the millions of dollars investment in tooling. Old ways die hard. I guess the shop will outlast me - it's already outlasted all the other guys I worked with back then. I kinda liked that for some reason.

Seeing Thunder Creeks Facility and understanding it's roots and growth reminds me strongly of the business my cousin and her husband started in South Dakota. From a dairy farm and a hobby they built an Auto Recycling business. Ultimately it grew like Thunder Creek to the point that they now lease the farmland (as much as isn't being used by the recycling business) and kept adding buildings to accommodate the growth. Today it's a first class business being run by their son who has recently joined the executive committee of the Auto Recyclers Association. Family and pride are a big part of their business as well. Their buildings are clean, well lit and organized. Automation plays a big part in the business.

You can see, this manager is besides the CFO, most of all CEO, keeping enough material in stock to keep the business running by means of having the material and processed stock up to date. With that, the business "doesn't run out" and causes delay's in producing an delivering.
Remember,, and this is for all those "smart A..s CFO's": "No-stock-is-no-invoice" and "no satisfied customer".
A "not-satisfied" customer is the worst "thing" a company can get, so to all CFO's: get the investments in order to save te company for the future and not the financial result of this year!!! There will be no "next-year".
I must say, an very nice structured company, even Mrs. Perfect must like it.
I could leave my dad (died to early) in this company, you'll had to drag him out at the end of the day, so impressive.
That "Trained Robot" is a nice remark.

That is one impressive business. I wish we could bring a lot of our mfg. back to the USA, and run it like this. We'd build the best products in the world. Maybe we'd quickly learn, or re-learn, that
the nickel you saved buying from China or elsewhere really costs more in the long run. Pay US workers to take US mfrd. supplies and build an actual Made in the USA final product. What it would do for the country economy-wise would be amazing. And "fixing" (firing) the asshats we now have in our federal government would be icing on the cake!

My first job was as an apprentice welder at a tank factory. We built under ground fuel tanks from sheet steel to 20000 gal fuel tank. The inside of our building was not big enough to build the tank inside so we worked outside in the hot summer sun. At the end of the summer of 1964 I joined the Navy to get away from building tanks.

This is a great video Michael and Jenna, thanks for taking us along on the manufacturing tour, it was awesome. That is a very impressive manufacturing setup that they have there. I really like where that they build everything that they can right there on site. And that is a very well made fuel-service trailer that they manufacturer there . And they sure put a quality paint job, on it too . It's going to be a great addition to your company and make a lot of things convenient for you all . I am really impressed by the trailer setup and ability to do different things . I am hoping that you both had a great trip going to get the trailer . That was a great interview that you did Michael and you and Jenna did a great job filming the video . I hope that the trailer gives you many years of great service . I will see you all later, so take care and stay safe out there driving and operating the equipment .
    🤗👍❤️💫

Do they come heated? At negative 40 temperature. A Lazer? to easy. I will give you 2grand for labor. They rather spend 1 million on machine than pay 25 Plus an hour. Those robots are not that hard to run you better be paying them 25 Plus an hour to do the robot welding .

Look like great service/fuel trailers, but a couple of "design" questions. Why is the fuel filter burred in what looks like the middle of the control area, and up high where fuel could get on everything rather than low and on the outer permiter? Also Why Gas powered engine and not Diesel powered? Now you have to have/carry a gas can to be sure you can get fuel, air, etc...

Put a mattress in the toolbox spot and she can go along to the job and camp out while you work. 😂😂😂 If you suggest this you better find a good lawyer.😂😂😂
