To me, the lyrics sound like someone who has been separated from someone special to them, but they're delusional about it. The person they miss has moved on but they can't see that. And everything they are saying is about the past and the journey. They keep on insisting that they will be reunited soon, and these lyrics sound very one-sided. They need to let go. The instrumental part sounds like the way the person feels. Optimistic and hopeful, but they leave a trail of memories along the way, and hopefully they are starting to realize their reality, and the fact that the person they miss is out of their life. Still holding on, still searching.
