Technically, Barry Gibb is being honored with this award, as the Kennedy Center Honors award is only given to artists who are living, which is why, for example, Paul McCartney has been given this honor but not the Beatles.

MEN who were not afraid of the beauty in a song! Beautiful…you were undaunted and not afraid to pull at heart strings…or evoke deep emotion in your listeners. I have to say that you have carried the torch and the Greenfields tribute albums were the perfect way to honour that music you created with your talented brothers. I had a 40 yr history of singing with a dear friend and there is something mystical about singing in harmony with someone your grew up with. I knew by a tilt of the head or a lift of a shoulder that she “ was feeling it” and the instinct to match her lead with my harmony was pure bliss. We sang in a church, leading worship..and we did pro bono stuff in our community….all I have ever thought was how infinitely unique for three brothers to have such distinctive voices yet the harmony was irrefutable! I say bravo for the lyrics that help me express my feelings…and for the way you changed music forever…there are so many songs that I hear …but very few move me the way the BeeGees could! Oh I am so happy for you..your beautiful wife is with you…I listen to the BeeGee offspring a lot..Stephen..Sammy

Years ago my Daddy stole my BeeGees cd..refused to return it so I had to buy another one! At the cemetery the day we buried Dad..I played that cd for him one last time as our family drove away. RIP Daddy❤ BeeGees Rule!

Of the 2,100 seats available, only 300 are made available to ‘ordinary citizens,’ and each seat is $400.
Then there’s the cost of getting there, a hotel room for at least two nights, food.
But, the US President forgets to mention Sir before the name of Barry Gibb. Since president is higher, then it was the MC forgetting to mention.

Trump never participated in the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony because the artists honored in the first awards ceremony after he became president in 2017 stated that they would not participate in the Honors ceremony if Trump participated. It is the only time Trump ever bowed out without making a nasty scene. The 4 Honors presentation ceremonies during Trump’s presidency were hosted at the State Department with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo presenting the awards and the 4 shows at the Kennedy Center were held without any senior official from the Trump administration in attendance.

You can’t mention Dionne Warwick without talking about Burt Bacharach. Both deserving of this honor. But BB (94) passed away this year without ever receiving this recognition. His contributions to the performing arts totally eclipsed Queen Latifah’s work. Maybe at 94 I’d consider QL for this honor. Definitely not at 53.

Totally agree...this was clearly the work of a goody two-shoes trying to do the right thing, but needed some adult guidance to get it right, but never got it. If Latifah had any big picture awareness on the issue, she would have provided the KC a list of at least a dozen folks who were more deserving.
U are aware she has don't way more then music? She done music. Started programs. Made movies . Produced movies. She not just about music. In fact I had no idea she did music till after I saw her on TV. Frankly there is always 1 person who gets it that didn't deserve to get one.

It's a new cheapening of the Kennedy Center Awards where they feel compelled to honor anyone associated with hip-hop, where so many of the lyrics of that genre, fuel racism, promote police hatred, degrade women, really a disgrace, not to mention, sharing the same stage as someone so elegant and classy as a Renee Fleming.
