This is mind blowing, the clean tone is so close to the original but the distorted part.....man there's no way you played that cause it's unbelievably close.
Everything is perfect, the tone and the way you play the song, I've seen a lot of people who play the main riff wrongfully and you touched it in the right way, wow what can I say??
BEAUTIFULLY DONE! AWESOME WORK!! Absolutely mind blowing 🤯
You are far too kind!! This is my favorite song of all time so I tried really hard to do it justice. Can’t thank you enough for the support and extremely kind words 🙏🏻
I feel you bro I feel you, this is also one of my favorite nirvana songs, again you did an amazing job recreating that tone, I know what's happening behind it and i know the hard work you've been doing, as a musician you got my respect dude, amazing guitar tho 💪💪

@@NirvanaGuitars it is also my favourite nirvana song
@@NirvanaGuitars hi so kurt double tracked guitars for come as you are. one had distortion during points of the song like the solo and the other one stayed clean listen to the devonshire mix of it theres only one track in that mix
Yeah dude.....Nirvana songs are "simple", but hardly anybody can actually play them like Kurt and make them sound right. This is spot on, I even dug how you played the solo a little different. Great stuff.
This dude is actually awsome at recreating guitar tones on songs
Thank you!
YOU EVEN MADE THE SOLO SLIGHTLY PAN LEFT TO RIGHT! I love that you pay attention to the small details because too many people skimp out on that one detail. In my opinion, that small pan makes the song 10 times better then it already is.
i actually get goosebumps everytime once distortion is applied and the basic riff is played
Dduuuuuudee i thought im the only one
Man its so close to the studio recordings this man is amazing
Thank you so much!
2:44 Nirvana has penetrated the DNA so much that I can actually hear Memoria in my headphones ...)) The sound really turned out to be very similar to the original. Thank you and good luck to your channel!
I 100% get that, the Memoria section of this song might honestly be my favorite piece of music ever written. Thanks for the kinds words!
This is just the video we needed! Can’t wait for the premiere.
Thank you! Can't wait for you to see it 🤩
2:02 🤯🤩 then i cried after the solo. Thanks man u give this sound a soul
Amazing cover of the song, you deserve so much more recognition, I'm sure every huge Nirvana fan (including myself) would love this channel.
Thank you so so much!
that's.. perfect..
BEST TONE OF CAYA THAT I'VE EVER HEARD!!!
love the "don't have a gun" part so much, so catchy.. 1-st string sound SO well!!
keep it up bro!! we love you!!❤
Holy shit, I feel like I say the same things every, single, time. But this... This is absolutely fantastic!! That clean tone is so extremely close!! And omg... that solo made me smile so much, that was honestly magical, sounded so, so awesome! Pat yourself on the back, you've only gone and done it *again!* The water at the end of the video was such an awesome touch too! Looking forward to the explanation!
Can't thank you enough for the kind words and continued support, it means a lot! 🙏 Happy you liked the water at the end, I had a lot of fun exploring video effects for this tone 😃
Dude, you are so good at this 👌
Thank you!
I never thought to use the small clone and the polychorus at the same time, and when I tried it's obvious it works; Thanks for this tip! Never seen it before
I was trying to emulate the spx90 with the polychorus! Thought it would be cool if we had a way to recreate that sound with pedals and not outboard gear 😃
Amazing tone and video as always
Thank you!
I love you man. This is beautiful
Well done mate sounds really good! Looking forward to more!
Thank you!
I love this videos!!!! For a fan of Nirvana it’s very interesting 😃

hey i just got an epiphone les paul and ive been learning a few nirvana songs come as you are being one of them just also wanted to say your a huge inspiration
Congrats on the new guitar!! 🥳 Thank you for the support!
Im sure your recreation will be great as always
Thank you so much!
What A Cover!!! Perfect!!!
Thank you so much!!
Love love love! Great cover mate as always! I have a suggestion. Could you do the same tones recreation but with an amp sim in the feature?
Thank you! I used to do that, before I got my Twin Reverb I used my Eleven Rack Amp Sim for tone videos. those videos are still up!
Like always. Amazing work! CAYA is my BFs favorite, I'll make sure to show him this
Thank you! Tell him he has great taste 😏
My favorite song also, I love the tone!
Best song, unbelievable tone 💜
Dude the distortion is UNBELIEVABLY CLOSE to the record. Thanks
Thank you so much!! 🙂
This song made me pickup my guitar 🔥♥️
It is very cool! Thank you very much for everything you do! PS: Still looking forward to In Bloom :)
Thank you so much for watching! Still working on In Bloom smile 😃
wow nice…the clean and the distorted makes perfect sense
I watched all the other CAYA tone videos are currently out to see how others have tackled it and was baffled to see one had layered clean and distorted guitars. I think it's an essential part of this studio tone
@@NirvanaGuitars it absolutely is hearing it and now seeing it! never thought of that!
That sounds awesome, super impressed
Thank you!
@@NirvanaGuitars Honestly, dude, these videos never cease to amaze me with how accurate these tones are. Keep it up
@@andrewpappas9311 Can't tell you how much I appreciate the support, thank you so much for watching! Happy you enjoy them 😃
Nailed it mate! Good job :) looking forward to “In Bloom” when you get around to it. Trying to nail the sound of the solo is so tricky I’m curious if you’ll be using any delay as thats the only way i can seem to get close
Greaaat Workkkk 🤘👏🔊
Thank you!
Yeah.....my favorite song! 😍I'm very impressed. I wish I could do it like you. Seems to me that I need to practice more...😅
Thank you! My favorite too 😍
Love ur vids so much
Thanks for watching 😃
Very nice !!!❤❤❤🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks!
EEEEEEEEEE i can"t wait for the premeire
Can't wait for you to see it!
Awsome cover as always you gotta do the snl time video one day tho
Legend says Kurt taught him how to play these songs pitch perfect.
Oh shit I can't wait for this one! THE hardest Nevermind tone to nail if you can get this and Lithium you are GOATED bro. If you're gonna attempt Lithium I suspect he used the mustang in the bridge and the Jaguar in the neck position to beef up the chorus. Listening to the Devonshire mix definitely sounds like the Mustang. As for CAYA that one has boggled me for years I can never figure out that one.
Agreed that CAYA and Lithium are probably the hardest ones, along with Drain You! Still working on Lithium but feel like I am getting close 🤞
sounds just like it!!!
Thank you!
Closest I've seen! There's a difference though, although it's very minute.. and I can't put my finger on it. Well done!
The open A sounds like a frog when it's plucked on the original.. sounds weird to say but also seems extremely difficult to replicate
Good stuff my g
Thanks!
Very nice, its very close to the original, good job
In bloom next!! Youre videos are so acuratte, thanks for helping Everyone and youre incredibel content! Cheers from mexico^^
Still working on dialing in In Bloom 😃 Thank you for the support!!
comming soon? ohhhh man thats a cliffhanger ajjaja cool video
haha it'll be out soon! Had the cover ready and was too excited about it, wanted to put that out first 😃
This is great!! let's Endlees, Namelees
SHITTTTT THIS IS AWESOME!
Thank you so so much!
This is amazing! I closed my eyes and I couldn't tell a difference between this and the album!
🤯 wow that is a huge compliment, thank you so much!
@@NirvanaGuitars You're welcome! I think I listened to it (and sang along) a bit too much, my bb gun disappeared and now I don't have a gun.
@@PalmettoStateSirens 🤣 legit laughed out loud at that haha!
This is amazing bro! You definitely nailed the tone and feel I dig it 🤘🏽💯
Thank you so much!
Dude, this is by far the best cover for it ever! I wish I could get a polychorus but the original vintage or reissue is just non-existant in the UK, too bad EH don't make anymore from what I can tell.
Thank you so much! I got mine on ebay in like 2013 or 2014 for $250 I believe. I remember thinking at the time it was a huge splurge for spending so much on a single pedal, but the prices now are absolutely insane!
@NirvanaGuitars Yeah, the only one i've seen from reverb is going for like $450 with about $50 shipping which is just insane, the most i'd spend is 300 which I did for the sansamp classic, hopefully I could snatch a deal in the future, keep up with the covers, they're insanely good 😁
Excellent, I hope the review about explanation!!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! Explanation video is in the works 😊
0:09 Woow come to think it is also my favorite nirvana song, Hah
CAYA and Vandalism Strat are your favorites? You are a man of class I see, much respect 🤜 🤛
Esto es demasiado hermoso😁, tu versión del solo me gustó más que la del disco, gran trabajo hermano, muchos saludos y cuídate!!!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! 🙏
@@NirvanaGuitars De nada hermano, gracias a ti por cada video que haces para que nosotros lo disfrutemos.
Ha!! I'm always struggling trying to get the definition during main riff distorted!! That's why he's got clean guitar going the whole time! Nice job sounds right on!
Thank you so much! I have never seen it brought up that there are clean guitars happening throughout the entire song, and it's a crucial part of the song's studio tone imo 😊
The best come as you are tone I have ever heard! Simply stunning! This is one of my favorite Nirvana songs. Thank you so much for posting the photos of the pedal settings. Also, may I ask, how do you play the first chord in the pre-chorus? Do you play the 1st and 2nd strings open or held down at the second fret?
Wow thank you so much! 🙏 If you're asking about the F sharp during the "memoria" section, the 1st and 2nd strings are held down at the second fret! That chord is 244422
@@NirvanaGuitars Thank you very much!
The Tone is so good. I could barely tell a difference
Wow thank you so so much 🙏
Hey Eric, You should try & recreat the tone from
Live at rhino records 1989
perfecto
Thanks!
Great video!! BTW can you make a video about the pine street theater 2/09/90
Yes 😉 actually hoping to do that one soon
Amazing, very accurate!!
Do you have recreating Rio 1993 tone in mind?
Thanks! Really like your channel - btw I don’t really hear the Polly‘s role here. I always thought it’s just small clone (and Boss DS) and in the video it still does sounds like that
Thank you! 🙏🏻 when mixing the album Andy Wallace used a Yamaha spx90 to add more chorus to the guitars. A small clone alone can not recreate the studio tone, my polychorus is emulating the spx90 and adding more chorus and depth
@@NirvanaGuitars thanks! You are doing an amazing work.
The clean sounds great and that solo though great job keep up the great work.
The tone is unbelievably close, especially during the "I don't have a gun" with the clean and the distortion part. I feel like everyone always forgets about that background clean strumming which adds more texture to that section. The mixing is pretty good too, though misses the almost cool watery effect of the original; still pretty accurate however.
Also, this ended up being my most played song in my Spotify Wrapped lol.
Thank you! I watched the other CAYA tone videos that were out before mine and was baffled to see no one recreates or even mentions the guitar layering. There's clean guitars going throughout the entire song, and it's a crucial part of the song's studio tone!
@@NirvanaGuitars Me too! It's most likely they base it off the live version or such but even then if you were to recreate the original studio version, why not have include the clean strumming too!
Off topic, but still. It is you who inspire me to search for different tones and groups and create my own. Thank you very much. And yes, it will be a wonderful cover)
That's an honor, thank you so much for the support 🙏
Dude, can you get jason everman guitar tone on polly (Rhino Records live)?
I searching it for years.
Interesting. Was using the polychorus the only way you found to get the sound? I hadn’t thought about combining them together before
waiting endless nameless)
Dude, if you search this tone up on RUclips, all these videos sucks when and all they rely on it’s the chorus pedal which makes me kinda mad since it’s not just about the pedal. The splash sounds almost like the original. Thank you so much
I watched all the CAYA tone videos that are currently out to see how others have approached it, and I completely agree with you that they all fall short of the actual studio tone. Like you said they all rely on the Small Clone when the studio tone is much more than that. The Small Clone alone is great for recreating live chorus tones though!
Wonderful tone and tremendous work! I'm a bit confused, I understood that Kurt started using the Polychorus after the Nevermind and that he only used the Small Clone there.
What role does the Polychorus play in this mix?
Thank you!
You are 100% correct! Kurt did not use the polychorus until In Utero. When mixing the album, Andy Wallace used a yamaha spx90 to add even more chorus to the guitars. A small clone alone can not recreate the final sound he got, so I used my polychorus to try to emulate the spx90 😊
Fuckin nailed it!
Thank you!
Can you please do in Bloom Tone?
im making a replica of the vandalism strat soon wish me luck
Good luck Dumpy 🦛
Hey, So my birthday is in less than a week, and I want to get the pedals to recreate nirvana.. I am hoping to get the Boss DS-2 And the EHX Small clone. Will those two just work to get the nirvana tone, Or will I also need a Poly Chorus?
EM i meant
When can we see a radio friendly unit shifter demo!
Concentrating on Nevermind right now. Once I’m done with all the songs on the album I’ll be moving on to either Incesticide or In Utero tones, haven’t decided yet!
I can hear the lyrics in my head when watching this video lol
I reeeaaally wanted this cover to have vocals. I tried to tune and line up the Unplugged isolated vocal track with the cover but it didn't work 😓
Nice tone with the Jaguar, very good idea to have separate clean and distorted channel, i think they did this on the record
just a question
how do you record your guitar? because i've try my first cover with mic recording with Come As You Are but my distortion phase is too loud, i am a bit lost
Thank you! Yes I also believe there is a lot of guitar layering going on not only on this song, but throughout the entire album.
The tone master twin reverb has an XLR direct out on the back, so I have that going straight to my interface! That's why you don't see a mic in front of my amp
Is that's an AM hou start the chords with???
👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
🤩
Спасибо за проделанную работу , действительно очень круто звучит . Но и Ягуар Курта это мечта
Я могу писать по русски?
@@grunge223 и я тоже?
Hey dude i've got a question, since you're in whole step down, how do your strings not fret buzz? Did you do some adjustments before recording this?
Great video and tone(s). Is it me or is the timing between the first and second note of the solo slightly quicker?
Thank you! I’m not sure, I thought I had got the timing right?
@@NirvanaGuitars it sounds great either way. Love the Polytune
Timing is definitely off in the solo.
could you do an in depth lesson to get the chords perfect
I've been thinking about doing lesson videos, and CAYA would probably be one of the first ones I do! I've seen people play the "memoria" part incorrectly in so many ways over the years haha
Dang, I just bought a DS-1 and a Small Clone thinking that’s all I would need to play this song. I didn’t know Kurt also used a Poly Chorus too. What’s the difference between the Small Clone and the Poly Chorus? I have a TC Electronic Corona chorus, and I wonder if I can find a toneprint that emulates the Poly Chorus sound. Thanks for this video, you sound incredible!
I actually JUST posted the explanation video minutes before you posted this comment! Kurt did not use a Polychorus on Nevermind, but I explain in depth why I used mine here: ruclips.net/video/zDnxYIWO1_4/видео.html
Ha! Perfect timing! Thanks for the reply. I’ll check it out now.
To my lord , another spot on tone and cover , cheers from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you as always Ryan! Greetings from Minnesota 🇺🇸
very nice, but what are the amp settings?
ruclips.net/video/zDnxYIWO1_4/видео.html
That Small Clone, is it a factory specs or did you tweak it like Aaron Rash does?
Factory! Been wanting to do Aaron’s mods to mine but haven’t gotten around to it yet
Do you use full step down?
D- Standard tuning ✌️
If you used an equalizer here, please tell me its settings. I'll be very thankful!
There is some EQ going on in the mix! All will be shown in the explanation video 😊
@@NirvanaGuitars You are very cool bro
Wow, nice playing :) what if all the nevermind song tones became a nevermind tone?
😮 that's a great idea, don't how I'd approach that but I like it!!
Like the nevermind riffs you play, would become one whole tone.
What struck me the most in the end is how you play the solo, kinda rushed, it gived some anxious feeling and i love it way more than the original
It sucked. Rushed is the word. Too rushed
@@Ottophil well yea thats your opinion
I think Kurt is holding a hollowbody in the music video
Sound perfect but where tone reference?
Thank you! There are no isolated tracks for CAYA available, and I like to use Kurt's isolated tracks back to back with mine for the tone reference parts
Isn't it the Mustang on Come as you are???
It’s not 100% known which guitars were used in which songs, but I doubt it was the mustang on CAYA. None of the guitar sounds on it sound like it could be a single coil imo
I’ve always thought CAYA was the Jag, a strat with a humbucker or layers of both

The funny thing is Kurt hated the production on NVM. It was all Butch trying to make it more pleasant or palletable sounding to reach mainstream success. Fully Butch tone and after FX than it was Kurt or his input. Kurt never played it live with that same tone on the record either. Notice every record before and after had that heavy overdrive rather than that spacey reverb underwater sound. I personally love the tone I just think it’s funny Kurt was so against it. Ha
I respectfully disagree with that 😉 There are plenty of quotes where Kurt says he thinks the production is too slick and that he doesn't listen to records with that level of production, I will give you that. But Krist himself has been asked if Kurt didn't like how Nevermind sounded and he laughed and said something along the lines of "No. Kurt loved it, we all loved it. We made the record we wanted to make."
I think Butch definitely had a big influence as to how the final product came out, Nevermind is the only Nirvana album where songs have 5+ guitar overdubs and I can see that being Butch's input/recording style. but I also believe Kurt approved of everything he did. I mean Kurt is the guy that at the Smart Sessions got pissed at Chad's playing, sat on the drums and showed him exactly how he wanted the Sappy drum part to sound. Supposedly that part that Kurt showed him is what Chad ended up recording.
Krist said (in Montage of Heck I think?) that nothing ever came out without Kurt obsessively and meticulously perfecting first, everything Nirvana released was Kurt's vision. But we still have those Kurt quotes so it gets confusing really quick haha. My theory is that Kurt got a lot of flack from the hardcore punk community he cut his teeth on over him signing to a major label and over how produced Nevermind sounds, so to put a up "I'm still punk, I don't give a fuck" persona he said he didn't like the production in interviews. I believed that too until Krist gave us an inner glimpse with his stories. Kurt is a contradiction in many ways, a truly fascinating musical genius.
great job, but the solo its a bit different. its stay more time in the first note., your pass to the second note its very fast i think
I feel like played the solo a bit too fast, but perfect tone nonetheless!
Thank you!
Kurt Cobain uses a mini chorus?
Not that I’m aware of! I’m using my small clone and polychorus
@@NirvanaGuitarsKurt Cobain used a mini chorus, he did not use a full chorus
