Superb kit project Sopwith Cammel F1 airplane from Academy , at 1/32 scale my friend . Thank you so much for sharing and good luck with the new project and have a great time , take care my friend !🎩👌🏻👍🏻🤝🏻🏆🏅
Haha I built biplane's in the 70s also. But mine went down in a blaze of glory. I just built them back then. Never cared enough to add rigging well one i did. Anyway great review and looking forward to your build. God bless.
I started this kit a while ago I did not finish it. I now use it as a paint mule. I had built a 1/32 WNW Sopwith Camel before this one and so I couldn't complete this one after that.
I hear you! I am doing it the other way around. I built this one to wet my feet so to speak for when I build my WNW kits. I wanted to practice with rigging and fabric/wood stuff on a less expensive kit.
@@BrettG64 - I think you should go straight into the WingNut Camel or which ever you have. I don't think you will learn much from this kit that will help you with WN kit. They are too different.
@@andrewredman4551 thanks for the tip. However, full disclosure here, the Academy kit is already complete. I've only just now started posting the videos! LAL. I usually have all or most of a series recorded so during times I cant shoot a video I can still post on a regular schedule. I did get to practice a few things that will come in handy for the WNW kit: rigging, which I've never done (and I found out it is not nearly as hard as I expected); and painting woodgrain, something oddly enough I've never done before!
@@BrettG64 - Ah yes and there is of course something to be said for experience gained from doing any kit. I tackled rigging bi-planes by doing a whole series of 1/72 kits. The idea was to tackle the rigging thing head on. I have completed around 20+ and have no fear of the technique now, and would say I even enjoy it. I look forward to your build Brett. I do enjoy your videos and watch them at my bench whilst making my own kits.
I'm currently building Eduard 1/48 Werner Voss Albatros D.111 and Man am I struggling W/Top Wing attachment. Brett, I'll be curious to see how you tackle your Top Wing assembly. GIVE EM HELL FELLA!
I built their Pfalz D.III some time ago. Attaching the top wing was difficult, because the the tips of the struts should be angled, but they are straight. Most of Eduard's biplanes are so old, they are practically short-run kits. The later kits I've got, SSW D. III, SE.5a and the new Sopwith Camel are on a totally different level. I've got also one Albatros D.III Profipack, not happy about a top wing issue with that one too.
I'm doing a diorama of Voss Fokker F.1 103/17 and MVR Dr.1 425/17 plus both their Albatros D.111's. The Fokker's are Done, but the Albatros's different story. All kits are 1/48 Eduard. Thanks for Feedback Fella's.
Doing a different subject increases your modeling Mojo. Have fun making the kit.

Yes indeed, Bill. I need to switch it up once in a while to keep things fresh, and to practice for upcoming subjects of a similar nature.

Thank you ovidiu
This should be really interesting and fun! Paint the markings hahaha.
Well... funny you should say that.
WOO-RAH! Ultra Cast have resin and metal turnbuckles and an extremely cool thatched seat, should you wish to up your detail. Thanks Brett.
Thanks, HG. However, this is a testbed for some techniques I've not used before. But, I have a few other WWi aircraft coming up, so....
@@BrettG64 Let me know if need some painting advice.
@@hgbarnes1584 will do!
Looking forward to following this build......
Thanks, Kerry

Thanks, Clayton. The one I built in the '70s was a slapdash affair for sure. I didn't even paint it... it was "molded on color" after all!

I’m sure you’ll do a fabulous job on this one, Brett. Beautiful subject matter.👍😎
Thanks, Lloyd
I built this one earlier this year, a great kit!
I agree. I have heard positive and negative, but I like to reserve judgement until I tackle a kit for myself.

With all of those parts needing proper alignment at once it can be quite a challenge

this will be intresting. you did do the Fairy Swordfish recently thats not dissimilar.
Indeed. But, this will be my first time for rigging of this type. Shouldn't be too bad.
i was looking that is at second hand for 15 euros
Reichenbacher flew a spad 13
Thanks, Rick. Maybe I'll build one of those some day!
