I recommend the desolate church it's a great starter location with a huge ore deposit and below the desolate church is a big flat area for your base. It's even far enough away to place your second base while still being in range of desolate church so they can still produce iron. You also have easy access to vixys to farm spheres. You can find the area just past the first tower boss in the red forest thing. It's also near a village to. The only downside is that it can easily be raided so you need walls. But another plus side is there is space for someone else to build a base next to you.
For now offline is better than a dedicated server. I believe it is because, at the time of this comment, the game is new and multiplayer seems to get janky. It may not be the case for some people but I find offline best for my game until they optimize the servers so shit doesn't clip through the floor, lag, or have delayed timing for many tasks. I just made me a simple basic base with a simple cabin to learn how base mechanics work. I put my game on tutorial until I learn how to play the game efficiently. Thanks to CB for this video. I gave me a better understanding of the Pokemon/Pals and how they work on a base. P. S. my Pals don't do anything but walk around LOL
A tip make sure early put cooked berries at the minimum in the food tray as it’ll give 1 sanity where raw berries and ingredients don’t so it’ll help with sanity
Hey, don’t know if you’re aware of it yet but the reason your eggs are too cold is because heat sources of the same type don’t stack. Even though you have four campfires around the egg, the game only heats the area up to the same amount one campfire would. To circumvent this, place different sources of heat - campfire, heater etc as they stack on top of each other.
I did read that, attack stat plays into mining/chopping, melee dmg. I haven't done any testing yet but I don't think it's as useless as general concensus claims.
Theres a fire pal, name starts with "A", that has warm body, meaning you don't need the cold resistant pelt ( unless some area gets way colder i guess). The same is probably true for the hot area. As for base optimization the actual placement of things matters, like keepking food close to food basket, and close to all work stations. I have just played a bit, but ideally i want to create something like a prison, where i got guys who literally can only do 1 thing, in their 1 cell. Pretty sure pals cant deposit through walls, and use devices through walls. Ideally everyone would be a workaholic, ect, and potentially lose less SAN or hunger through breeding. Spears are strong vs weakpoints, and there are pals that increase your dmg to weakpoints. In general though i dont fight anything myself.
I made my second base into an iron farm right where your base is. just put all miners with a couple pals farming for food and running ore. Have one chest right beside the base teleport thing where the ore gets ran to and pick up everything. its overweight but you can still teleport to home base then drop ore run a couple feet to a chest then pick up and deposit. home base then processes

For that first area. I know it's a bit fiddly, but, I built on the mountain where the path bisects it. Up where the big stone tower is. Not one raid has gotten to me yet.
About the fire thing, my son ran through an indoor fire and set himself on fire, which then set our wood base on fire. But it’s all good because our water boy put it out.
You should build your second base directly on the ore deposit and get level 2 miners (tombats are easy to find) to mine the ore for you. Put a crate next to the pal box and get a pal to transport stuff. Put another crate behind your first base’s pal box so that once you fast travel there, you can drop the ore, stand next to the crate, pick the ore back up and put it in the box. This will mean you never have to mine the ore. You don’t really need the second base to do anything else for you, and automated ore mining is insanely helpful.
Funny. I built my 1st base in the same place you did. When I hit lvl 28 I got raided by lvl 30 lightning birds (whatever they're called). The birds got stuck on the arches and eventually flew away. 2 raids later, they came from the other side and laid waste. Most of my workers were lvl 20 and got knocked out. I've had serious problems with more than one chest, Pals tend to split stone and wood everywhere and that is annoying as hell so it's best to have as little as possible, one metal chest. Also I completely completely disagree on the stat allocation. You never ever ever need work speed, just have a pal with level 1 handiwork with you and they will craft and build out on the field faster than you would ever be able to. The most important stats are stamina and weight, split between the 2 evenly if you like. HP is a non issue once you start getting the best shields and armor while also dodging. I've placed maybe 1 or 2 points in HP and I am level 34 so far with no points in work speed.
thx for the guide. i tried rushing to the cliff base early. sadly its guarded by the arrow bird and another dark monster. i ll stick with the 1st area for now
I keep getting hammered by the robins. Even at lvl17 they kick my teeth in every time I go there as soon as they see me. I don’t know if it was an update or something but the robinquills just aggro on sight and kill me.
I just saw this game on the Xbox home screen when i got on to continue my first Elden Ring playthrough (using your guide btw). Saw on YT that it's actually got some real traction behind it so i installed it and will give it a try. Any plans on doing a proper Cowboy walkthrough on it?
I've notice on my game that having a building with workbenches is stupid because Pals don't go there even if you throw them manually. Should I put everyhing outside and a 2x2 house just for my bed?
I actually have my base still at that "beginner friendly" spot and have a second base at your current base location. But the second base isn't really a base it's just the palbox so I can mine til I'm like 1000 lbs overweight then fast travel to my base.
Ever since I got the latest patch on Xbox, the area where you put your base is inaccessible to me as my character falls through the ground there. I also keep getting “world save…unable to save” messages popping up constantly. Really disappointed that I can’t enjoy this game at the moment until they fix this issue.
I did mess with 2 low attack pendants, adding 10 bumped damage slightly, but it def varied. On one pal my +1 crossbow was hitting 485 no boost/515 with +10. Another guy was 1240 crit no boost, +1400 with +10. Likely as you said it's multiplicative
What’s the best way to “transfer” a base somewhere, cause i made one literally right next to spawn and it’s not too good, am i able to just pickaxe things i’ve built and get the materials back?
The easiest legit way would be to break down everything and keep putting it in chests next to your pal box and then warp to the other pal box and deposit it in new chests but that takes a while. When I did it I used cheat engine to disable carry weight, broke down everything I could find, and then just went to my new spot.
I have everything set up for pals to be happg and healthy. When im online playing there is never a problem. However when i log back on, every single one of them is starving with injuries
might want to take this down or edit it in the video itself. I built my base exactly where you did and now I'm learning I could have built it right on top of the ore. now I'm trying to make another base right next to the old one and it won't let me.
How stop pals being thrown at copper nodes run towards stone bed(forgot what its called the infinite stone building you can build)...is this an issue with ai pathing or should i dedicate bases to either stone or ore mining?
Is there a way to not get attack by other players? I just want to start a game just by myself. Sorry I just don’t know anything lol I’m getting this game in a couple of days.
You can play this game offline. One thing that always kept me away from these survival type games was not wanting to deal with other people. This game solves that by simply having an offline mode

This game lacks prioritization (which smelter is more important? Should I work on food or ingots right now?) and better communication with the pets (eg, attack this guys! Or weaken this guy (prevent overkill)!).
you can pick up a pal, f.e your Foxpark, and throw them at the thing you want them to do right now. They will do it UNTILL they finish the current task (though I think raids can this up). It's better than nothing I guess.
@@enot2140 Yes, you can do that, however, you can't easily tell them to stop. First, when you throw them into something, they do do it, but lasts until the end of the day. Second, if they've no other job, they'll do something (eg use the heater next to my eggs), and I can't tell them to stop… if I do they'll just be like well, there's nothing else to do so lets heat the same thing.

Dude I just clicked on this vid and this is where my second base is lol
I just saw this game on the Xbox home screen when i got on to continue my first Elden Ring playthrough (using your guide btw). Saw on YT that it's actually got some real traction behind it so i installed it and will give it a try.
Any plans on doing a proper Cowboy walkthrough on it?
Would love a walkthrough for this game. Mainly to understand how to get started and progress step by step. I get lost in games like this lol.
You have a great voice!
What did you use for the walls? The building set for wood on;y foes right angles, right? Please and thank you!
You unlock defensive walls later which are free placed.
Thanks!@@FightinCowboy
when you cover the base with walls you miss the beautiful scenes :)
I've notice on my game that having a building with workbenches is stupid because Pals don't go there even if you throw them manually. Should I put everyhing outside and a 2x2 house just for my bed?
Yeah pathing is houses is really goofy. My house has a bed and a 2nd floor that contains permanent base upgrades (logging stump, toolbox, etc)
I actually have my base still at that "beginner friendly" spot and have a second base at your current base location. But the second base isn't really a base it's just the palbox so I can mine til I'm like 1000 lbs overweight then fast travel to my base.
Can we Increase the Base Range it’s too small sometime after placing pel deck building everything Is impossible
My friend pals can’t attack any pals and cant help my friend fighting can u tell me how we fix this?
Game pass on the pc and can't get past the black screen any tips?
Ever since I got the latest patch on Xbox, the area where you put your base is inaccessible to me as my character falls through the ground there. I also keep getting “world save…unable to save” messages popping up constantly. Really disappointed that I can’t enjoy this game at the moment until they fix this issue.
Okay thats cool and all but how can i het them not to get stuck all the time?
I think attack must be multiplicative. Its at 100 even with you holding weapons while defense and hp you can see change with equipment.
@@FightinCowboyso if i break a high tech workbench, will i get back the materials used to build it?
You get 100% of materials back when you break something down afaik@@awareduckymomo4785
17:25 Big Boss wants to know your location.
I personally edited my game world settings to instantly incubate the eggs lol
how you rid blue circle the base and because me and my friend try big blue circles with more build base??
I have everything set up for pals to be happg and healthy. When im online playing there is never a problem. However when i log back on, every single one of them is starving with injuries
Yup, why I moved back to playing solo. The AI is very weird in online play. When everyone logged off they just stood around starving and not working.
Once you've started the game once, the option to choose starting location disappears.
Incorrect. Anytime you die you're given 6-7 different respawn locations not including your bases
might want to take this down or edit it in the video itself.
I just break the stone pit when i have enough stone and then they jumo back on the ore
If the miner is not high enough level they won't mine. A level 1 miner would not mine any ore in my game, I had to get a level 2 miner
@@ram89572 thank goodness and thank you for the comment.
How did you build the base walls, I can't find the engram.
its wooden walls. You unlock it at like level 5
Just curious, if one of your pals is low on sanity does putting them into the Pal Box help with restoring said sanity?
Yeah i just chuck em in there
@@FightinCowboy thanks the last thing I need is for them to start going on strike or something 😋.
Also as far building space goes for stuff like assembly lines and other stuff, I was able make my house as tall as four stories before it made it so I couldn't build higher.
I did this to try and solve the small base range issue I've been having to deal with.
What button would I push on Xbox to auto vacuum stuff out of my inventory into my chests? That looks so much faster than doing it manually
R1 I believe
@@FightinCowboy sweet I’ll try it
i dont get it...why did you put your base further away from the ore nodes??
your monsters wont go there to farm the ores since its out of your center zone
shouldnt you have put the pal box middle or next to the ores so its INSIDE the circle?
your current set up just looks like manual farm ores infront of your base
Read the pinned comment. Originally it was just for aesetic regions but tbh you prob want a standalone ore base as it gets quite full 30+
@FightinCowboy read pinned comment or take what you say in video? You claim you can't automate ore and tell ppl one thing in video an say another in pinned comment so instead of saying read the comment like an A hole to someone asking question maybe learn the game if your making tips for said game so many things in this video you clearly know very little about not saying you should know everything but your making tips video maybe learn the game before teaching others an saying things aren't possible when they are kinda defeats purpose of tips video if what your saying is wrong or not ideal. How can you expect everyone to read pinned comment you know some ppl probably don't read comments or scroll right past it lazy youtubers gotta rush content for quick views gotta be first type of content that's why most if not all this info is garbage we might as well not look for tips an guides for weeks until actual gamers play the game an learn game before making tips on stuff they know nothing about go make let's play leave tips an guides to ppl that actually put in the work
This game lacks prioritization (which smelter is more important?
And so it begins 😂
U can have a penking and bushi mate for an Anubis +4 handiwork
I've played for about 3 hours. I'm a level 50. I have everything unlocked except a few unlocks you need specific pals. Games fun as fuck so far. I can't wait to see the future for this game.
3 hrs lvl 50 how tf
@hydrated447 oh believe me, I'm cheating like a mf. Lol
You must have turned all the stats to max in the custom screen setup🤣
@@Olderbird no I used a cheats. There's things like infinite health, 100% capture rate, all rare pals, ect...
@@Olderbird I'm on normal no custom server it's normal but I'm playing solo.
the eves also dig up pal spears there very useful early game.
I am having issue with the triangle walls rotating.
The pals on my base don't attack and keep working when there is a raid. Why
Alarm bell, set to defend base or focus on work either or
so is there any way to effectivly have stone/wood and iron being created at 1 spot?
Wood/Stone/Ingots are all created at different things. If you mean layout wise just stack em near eachother.
@@FightinCowboy ment more in the way stopping my pals from abandoning their assigned spot and randomly doing something else, like pals assigned to iron ore jumping away from it to lets say mine stone, transporting items, harvesting in some cases. could be some EA bugs though.
Yeah no really way to assign them besides throwing em at it and helping they stay. Def something I hope gets cleaned up as EA progresses.
Cool video, more than anything i'm fighting the controls to try and build, dude its so weird trying to turn angled pieces or something they just dont do it
You on Xbox? I had the same problem
@argentsilver928 pc but the Xbox version. I fixed it by placed a flat roof on the corner, placing the angled piece on the edge then removing the flat roof and putting the angled roof back
Anyone know how to stop pals from having access to puting items in certain boxes im trying to sort my storage by wood related, stone related,etc...
You can either lock the boxes or what I would do is line up your boxes at the edge of the base away from production and then have a separate box that's close to where they work that they'll deposit shit into
@@FightinCowboy thanks
Anyone have a good guide to set up a dedicated server? I’ve had so many issues trying to set one up….
to let you know max pals you will have at your base is 15. you will never have more.
20 with server settings
I can’t tell you how many times I’m trying to catch a pal only to cause too much damage at the end right before throwing the ball then spontaneously scream no 🤦♂️
Egg where an issue, reduced time to hatch on settings, hatch instantly
Use 2 different heat sources a heater and a campfire
