    I appreciate your honesty. I’ve been looking into this program for the same reason as you, a more happier healthier life. I struggle a lot with math and science, but I’m also so done with retail and ready for something more stable and promising in my life. Good luck, thank you for sharing your journey! ❤️❤️

      I did a lot of different customer service jobs and ended up stuck in it because I didn't have the experience to do anything else but nobody would let me get the experience to do something else. It felt like my only option was to go back to school. I love anatomy, hate Physiology, and am not great at math. I think Radiography is a great option for career fulfillment ❤❤ good luck on your journey!

    What kind of community college has a x-ray tech program where it's lottery based and they randomly take names to be accepted to the program?! That is HORRIBLE! So someone who has a 4.0 average won't get in the program while the other person who has a 2.8 gets accepted just because it's randomized. That community college should be severely punished for doing that nonsense. Anyway, good video and good luck on your journey👊🏿

      On the flip side, in our CC, it is GPA based and unfortunately a lot of people get passed up. Unless you have a 3.8-4.0, your chances are slim. A good friend of mine had a 3.7.gpa. She applied multiple times and couldn't get in. I was accepted with a 3.9, but I definitely don't feel more qualified than her. I'm more bookish where she is more practical. I feel like maybe they should do a lottery with 3.5 and up or maybe add an entrance exam for extra weight. Idk what the answer is, but all I'm saying is that there are pros/cons to GPA based programs.

    • @KennyJordana
      @KennyJordana 2 года назад

      @@Dee-jp6no I strongly disagree that there should be a lottery system. There should not ever be a lottery system going into someone's education. It should be about working hard to get the best grades in your courses. Yes, but you worked hard to get that GPA to get into that program. Not to say that your friend didn't work hard as well, but you had the better GPA that lead to you to get in, which is fine and fair. That's really a HIGH GPA to get.
      I feel like they should severely lower the GPA at your college to get into these programs because that's like a perfect GPA and the majority of students don't have a perfect GPA, from what I'm told. At my college, you have to get a 2.5 minimum GPA to even be considered into the program. However, you don't want to get just a 2.5. You want to get the best GPA so your chances will be really high to get in. I just got accepted to the program and my GPA was a 3.6 or 3.7. I would be really upset if my 3.6 or 3.7 GPA didn't get me in and someone got into the program over me with a 2.5 GPA just because of a lottery system. That would be so upsetting.

    • @Dee-jp6no
      @Dee-jp6no 2 года назад +1

      @@KennyJordana I think the problem with my program is that they only accept 20 students out of 100+ applying. It's VERY competitive. I wasn't even sure that I would get in with the 3.9 gpa. All it would take is 20 people with a 4.0 to fill those seats. Just to be clear, I'm not for a lottery system that includes 2.something. I'm saying I wouldn't be against a lottery system for a minimum 3.5 to 4.0. I just don't feel that being book smart automatically translates to excelling in the practical setting, which is a huge part of any healthcare program. I wish our program could expand to an extra 20 students and make it 40 total, but they said that they only accept 20 because they don't have enough facilities to accommodate more students.

    • @KennyJordana
      @KennyJordana 2 года назад +1

      @@Dee-jp6no Sorry for the late response, I was finishing finals. My program only took 24 students. I believe you would've got accepted into my program with your GPA. Having a lottery system for a minimum 3.5 to 4.0 is still not fair. I would be really upset if I had a 3.9 GPA and someone got accepted to the program over me with a 3.5 GPA just because of a lottery system. Any lottery system should not be in a student's education to succeed. I would think it's more about working and studying hard in school than being book smart. For example, I'm not book smart savvy at all. I just worked and studied hard in my courses. I use my resources at school and received help. Resources and help as in I had a tutors, went to the lab, went to the learning center, went to the workshops, got help from my professors, even my advisor helped me out and so on. I really feel that you don't have to be a book smart type of student to get into or to succeed in these programs. I do agree that they should expand the program and double the students instead of having 24, have 48 students be accepted. It's funny that you stated this because my advisor told me the same thing. I was told that the school doesn't have room for all these students to have more in the program.

    I started Rad Tech school last week as well (Kara Lee commented below started together with me!) We have a test tomorrow over the different types of imaging (MRI, CT, etc) and I have studied all week and I’m still freaking out about it! Our instructor informed us it wouldn’t be multiple choice, that we actually have to write out the definition of each of them or fill in the blanks that she provides. I’m stressed! Anyone here have any tips on how to remember all of them?!

    • @SydneyLyra
      @SydneyLyra  3 года назад +1

      Hi Emily! If your instructor provides you with homework assignments I would say to go over those. Your best friend is going to be active recall. So try making flashcards and quizzing yourself on the different terms. If you prefer not to waste paper, use quizlet and create digital flashcards out of the terms.

    • @redheadlilrebel
      @redheadlilrebel 3 года назад

      @@SydneyLyra I’ve been using Quizlet but there’s just so much to remember. We’re having to do our Radiology class on Zoom as well because our Instructor broke her ankle and will be out for awhile, while she tries to get her surgery and such figured out. She sent home powerpoints that were printed off and that’s pretty much what we have as a review... I just hope I can remember everything that’s important! I’m so stressed! 😭

      Hi Ruvi,
      This is going to depend greatly on the school that you decide to go to. Radiologic Technology is a 2 year program so I would probably start by looking at your local community college to see what their prerequisites are and go from there. you can always speak to a guidance counselor about what classes they suggest you take first. If not your community college, there my be a private program in your area. Just keep in mind that private colleges tend to be more expensive. Hope this helps!

      Is there a difference between a community college education vs a private university? You mentioned that the community school in your area was on a lottery, but if it wasn’t, would you have went to a community college? I am planning on going to the community college in my state.

      But the school that I'm going to has the right accreditations and provides and associates degree and allows me to sit for the ARRT exam at the end to get my license. So I figured it was worth spending the extra money to not have to wait on the lottery.
