I wonder how much carbon that carbon saving bus put into the atmosphere
The smoke from these battery disasters is lethal and extreme toxic
More pollution than a fleet of reliable diesel buses in a month.
When was the last time a conventional city bus lit itself on fire while parked?
Not to mention you can't even light Diesel on fire with a lighter...
@@nitroustommy3668Doesn’t it take like the heat of boiling water to light diesel?
Extremely rare. Back home that happened once in 1976 to a bus parked at the garage. A cable had shorted out starting a fire which spread. It was at night and there were only two mechanics there in the shop who did not notice it . That's the only case I know of except those in high speed crashes such as the 1988 Kentucky school bus crash which was a gasoline powered bus with a very thin walled tank on the outside of the frame.
Don't ask questions you climate change denier.
Didn't you see the hockey stick graph?
Green is a SCAM
HUGE scam as are the politicians that push this crap
One of the biggest problems is how quickly an EV vehicle is engulfed in flames. About five seconds of white smoke, and then everyone inside is a crispy critter.
Totally. It’s like thermite melting through steel.
Yes, the rate of the spread of the fire, preventing occupants to escape is significantly faster with an electric bus.
Proponents of electric vehicles seem to ignore this risk. Unfortunately we will learn this when an occupied bus moving at 65 mph catches fire and by the time it can stop, passengers will be trapped and an entire bus load of passengers have died. It is only a matter of time. Only then will officials recognize the hazard.
The frequency of a fire may be less however the severity of the fire will be significantly higher.
And now they are making electric school buses. SMH
Yeah they jumped into this change everything to electric … GOOD JOB sleepy joe for pushing it
Exactly. Only one can survive if lucky. The others are fried. We are lucky the electric bus fires are always empty no humans inside. Like a God's warning.
The stats on vehicle fires are irrelevant. The question is not, how many fires occur in various types of vehicles, but how many SPONTANEOUSLY combust. Gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles very, very rarely catch fire without an initiating spark. Spontaneous EV fires are much more common.
agree. and not only spontaneity, but also recognizing, when they light off, it goes from not a fire, to a car/bus sized out of control arc welder, in seconds. it seems to me its only a matter of time, before we get an accident that involves a bus that is actually on the job, and it takes everyone inside the bus, before they even knew what happened.
Not to mention how the fire burns with the power of a volcano DIRECTLY INTO THE CAB! No evs have a firewall capable of containing their fire. If you're trapped in it, you are plain and simply dead... The jaws of life will just recover your ashes.
Yeah news just not showing true and real data not a shocker anymore to be honest.
And hybrid buses are are electric.
Huston. We have a problem. The future we dreamed of doesn't look so bright.
This is why I don't like electric vehicles is because what's inside the batteries are more toxic than other batteries
WOW. Look at all that black smoke. Way to save on the environment
electric vehicals are a way bigger fire hazard.....you short those batteries and you have a runaway welder you cant shut off...
I would never get on a bus like that!!!
I'd stick to CNG. You can't go wrong.
Me neither. It's probably going to take one of these bursting into flames at a transit garage and wiping out a city's entire fleet before they stop with these.
I wonder if parents will put their children in danger, in electric buses to school?
Would you look at all that clean air
Another consideration is an average electric car fire can take up to 40,000+ gallons of water to extinguish. They burn four times hotter than conventional car fires, also they can and do re ignite after we think they are extinguished. Massive amount of pollution in the air from one electric car fire. I can only imagine how much the buses put out.
Um, the electrical charge in the batteries has NOTHING to do with how difficult the fire is to put out. In fact the batteries can be fully discharged to completely dead (meaning 0 volts, which damages the cells anyway) and the fire will be difficult to put out because of the chemicals.... I do believe this could have been better thought out....It is this kind of misinformation that has gotten the world where it is today, intentional or not.
Are you a Fire Chief? Is that your expert opinion?
The thing is batteries contain enough energy to propel a vehicle many miles without any external agency such as oxygen. When they do thermally run away the release of that energy in an uncontrolled way presumably is not just burning in any sense we know it. It seems more an analogous to an explosion which is also self contained chemical energy release but in the battery case slower given the more stable materials. Fully discharging a battery with mileage capacity to propel a car capable of 250 miles would require rapid dissipation of the same total heat as produced by a similar ICE car running over the whole journey and even farther as the latter will be lighter. The amount of self contained energy needing no Oxygen supply sitting underneath you as opposed to the fuel tank sited at the rear for good reason is formidable. There just seems no design of a bespoke battery system also as there are just a couple of thousands or more of torch cells wired together and any one of which failing is a potential disaster. Mass production manufacturing tolerances seem way less than would be required to give any degree of safety. Imagine how safe a car would be with 2,000 tiny little petrol tanks piped together supplying the fuel with any one leaking lighting up the vehicle. Working on this analagous fuel lash up system would be easier also, provided there is no cigarette hanging from your mouth, without any killer voltages to zap you.
I love how they do the comparison of fires considering only about 1% of the cars on the road are electric
I love how they forget that hybrid busses are electric.
There are many ways to power vehicles without fossil fuels.
They also forget that EVs are still far to expensive right now to actually have the same type of owners that neglect maintenance and abuse their own cars either due to financial predicament (beater cars) or just plain neglect. An unmaintained EV with a faulty BMS or unbalanced battery pack cells is far more risky than a super old ICE that's been out in the elements for years.
The difference in how gas v. electric cars catch fire. Gas cars don’t explode while sitting in your garage or while you’re sitting in traffic unlike EV who explode for absolutely no valid reason whatsoever 🤷🏻♀️
So your saying gas cars fire only happen when they are running which there are people inside but EV's happen when they are sitting and empty. Thanks for the EV Promotion 👍
It’s not for no reason. It’s because the crappy batteries get overcharged. GM and Ford have had to do recalls for bad batteries
@@KaosNova2 They are not being charged when the fires happen.
The ignoramus switch to ev is what happened!!!!!! We already have vehicles.
This. If companies truly cared about the environment. They would stop producing new cars in such mind numbing numbers.
Just a disgusting cash grab under the guise of "helping the planet"
Of course my fellow millenials fell for it. It just encapsulates our culture. We want to help without actually sacrificing anything.
Salt and battery's don't mix what do we put on the roads in the winter 🤔. And an electrical fire that you can not cut the power on is harder to fight than a conventional fire. You walk up to it and cut the battery cables
These fires are happening all over the world. They add up.
Lithium batteries are ticking time bombs.!!!!!
Well well!!! Now they put diesel buses back into service because of that battery electric bus fire.
and gasoline school buses.
Next the climate folks are saying that smoke is safer for the planet.
you don't see that with diesel 🙄
Diesel is harder to light than gasoline though
Only electric vehicles spontaneously combust.!!!!! The fumes are also toxic .. by the way.!! and they spontaneously re-ignite too.!
Is 25 fires per 100k vehicles a good number? These are vehicles not even involved in crashes? How many Ford Pinto fires were there for the 3 million made?
Weird how London, England also has EV bus fires. 3 in the past 3 weeks. They also took the fleet out of operation because that somehow will stop these EV buses being a massive hazard to life and property.
At least the fire department can extinguish the gasoline fires unlike EV vehicles.
Imagine 30or 40 of these things in a pile up on the freeway.
1. There doesn’t have to be an accident for an ev to catch fire.
2. The smoke lasts for hours, equaling loads of toxic pollution.
3. Thousands of gallons of water are wasted because water doesn’t put the fire out.
4. Toxic fire fumes endanger firefighters and the public.
5. 2x as many buses are needed because of low range and high charging times.
6. Very expensive batteries have to be replaced fairly often, with difficulty.
Etc etc.
They don’t pose a challenge, they pose a life and structure threatening danger.
I have idea: it was an electrical fire
this makes the grumman 870 buses look amazing.
What no way. They said these buses were safe and effective. If only people were warning us of this before hand. If only...
That’s cause there are hardly any electric cars out there. What a joke these electric vehicles are.
All Exploding Vehicles(Ev's) that carry people should be banned immediately from being used until this major problem is fixed which might take years but the Gov's of the world will ignore it . I would never allow any member of my family to use these death traps ever.
We should make an EV Hater club.
And to think that electric school buses are now being used…
Ev buses inside the Lincoln tunnel a hazmat fire
OMG, imagine if the bus caught fire during the busiest time of the day while full of passengers! The headlines would be: 34 passengers were killed today in the news...more at 11.
Most buses are diesel. Comparing diesel bus fires to electric bus fires would be more relevant.
Clean air....Im informed now! Burning battery buses is clean air!
Oil companies love this video sooooo much
A year on and there are EV fires which make ICE fires look puny.
Uncle Tony 🤣🤣🤣
ha, his video brought me here too.
I havent heard a follow up on how is the health of those taken to hospital. Were they exposed to toxic hydrogen fluoride? Are they losing bone mass until they die horrible deaths within the year that wont be reported because they didnt die immediately at the scene? Inhalation or exposure to that extremely toxic substance released and absorbable through the skin takes time to deplete the calcium from your bones and kill you but very much can. No names or follow up info about those taken to hospital. Wonder why?
No toxic fumes while burning. Thank goodness.
Most gas vehicle fires are deliberately set, either as insurance fraud or by joyriders. Of the remainder, a good portion are caused by faulty wiring, especially mods done by the owners.
Very good for our environment
you also didn't count the hybrids in w/the electric as they are also electric.... and how many gas engines spontaneously combust while sitting around all by themselves, doing nothing
Nope! I wonder how much ridership decreased as a result of this fire?
The most dangerous aspect is the fumes from them when on fire, they can cause a huge explosion!
holy crap
Well this is the bright idea for going green😂
As EV lithium batteries produce their own oxygen when they have runaway fires and you can’t extinguish them by conventional means. So they are very much more dangerous and produce a huge volume of toxic fumes. That’s why a Hazmat team has to attend EV fires.
It woudln't happen if it were a diesel.
Electric buses, till years , nothing caught fire incident happened in flying /grounded aeroplane.
Dyanamic milisecond fire existiguze be invented in electric utilitis please
It could be a flaw in the batteries being used, IIRC, it wasn’t always Li Ion batteries in EVs
Dont waste your money on any electric car
Ohhh just 25 per 100k fires for electric. But they ignore the stat showing gas/electric hybrids are well over 2x more likely to burn than a gas car. Don't forget EVs don't burn in the conventional way. They are more like a giant welding arc that can not be turned off until the massive battery bank is fully consumed and melted down. look up videos of these electric cars burning under water.
Those statistics are ridiculous. There are far MORE gas vehicles than electric.
They’ll be needing more emergency escape doors on buses and emergency drop down windows on cars,
Il stick to my slow, efficient burning diesel. Might as well have c4 under you in one of these EV buses. Those case studies are also a joke because they are comparing all gas/hybrid cars to the 1-3% of electric cars being sold so just imagine how bad it really is if you put them at the same numbers..
Carro elétrico só dor de cabeça
This is why I'll never buy an electric vehicle....ever
Edith Corneilous in and from TN claims she knows how to make that happen to electric vehicles.
Clean air right! Lol good luck with that
Not much chance of surviving that
What would happen if that bus was full of people. Government doesn't care about the people as long as they get rid of gasoline vehicles. EV fire is catching up to the gasoline fire
That graph was misleading as HELL!! R U Kidding me?
Ok firefighters not putting ev fires out like windcharger tower fires
And from this fire almost all New Flyer Electric buses were pulled out from service
Proterra also had these
It serious
oh my god
The green media will sweep these fires under the rug but they are dangerous and I hope and pray the next fire doesn't have a load of passengers aboard. Rarely will a diesel powered bus go up in flames like that.
Clean air? Really?
That’s was a XE40
Hahahah. Now thats taking enunciation to the next chapter...."Hooked on phonics worked for him"
Does it burn ecologically? 🤔🤷🏼♂️
For now, I'm not "carrying the torch" for electric vehicles with lithium batteries. I don't think they are UL approved, and won't be for quite some time.
People modify ev vehicles without any knowledge of electricity.
Or chemistry apparently
Joe did that
Your not getting out of them alive .
Nope
Looks like explosion at US Canada border today .
Danger !!!
19 buses destroyed Aug 2023 in Oshawa Ontario Canada.
Ontario is spending billions for electric batteries but saying nothing about fires from buses and cars.
These industries will fail as people don't want or afford electric cars and will finally stop them after deaths as they're like bombs that will start at any time.
This doesn't have to happen.
It has to happen we have to many people More EV's Please!
Smoke is very dangerous. Stick with oil it's been around for a long time.
What if that bus had your children on it. I certainly would not want mine any where near an electric bus. Kamala if you love them so much, why don't you take a ride on one. Probably for the same reason you won't go to see things for me yourself at the border
Can you say sabotage?
Diesel buses are better The even though you're breathing Toxic ges
diesel electric is nice.
At least it is not bad carbon burning from a gas powered car, the electric power car can't be put out with fire so it is better.
Zazur electric vehicles 🚗
The world will soon run-out of fresh water if EV's keep getting made. Invest in Desalination plants for a highly profitable return.
Well oops! Guess electric isn't the best idea huh?
Those fumes will stop global warming
Ban electric vehicles.
I was searching for EV haters and I ended up here lol.
Matthew 24:22
Can't wait till we've got something better than stupid lithium batteries. They're still going to remain in use for years though.
They have sodium-ion batteries and they are not flammable.
@@PyroShields I know but it's going to take time before they are common place.
@@Duncan_1971 I'm not a fan of lithium. There is a channel on youtube he uses a crusher on alot of things. He did one video using triple AAA batteries and went up in battery size. Even the triple AAA caused a big fire. Tells us we shouldn't be disposing them in the trash as they get crushed by garbage trucks.
How many electric vehicles does the President Biden have
Gasoline is the way of the future....the safe way
Are you sure it isn’t Hydrogen? Ammonia? Mister Fusion?
EV means explosive vehicle! For fools only.
Guys: Hybrid busses *are* electric busses.
Democrats what all school buses to be Electric
This video brought to you and sponsored by big oil companies to prevent the disruption of gas vehicles going the way of the dinosaurs
