  • 🏠 Your Own Tiny Home for P8K a Month by Cubo Modular | Unique Homes | OG
How to make housing sustainable and affordable? Lucky for Filipinos, Cubo Modular, the first and only sustainable modular housing company in the country is here and ready to alter the Bahay Kubo into a modern home using one of the world's fastest-growing plants - the bamboo. (Talk about reimagining.)
Here's Earl Forlales, Co-founder and CEO of Cubo Modular, taking you on a house tour inside their 1st generation Sarangani model.
In just a few days, the firm can build you a sustainable tiny house you can live in for up to 50 years.
That's right, a SUSTAINABLE tiny bamboo house. And you can get it for as low as ₱8,266/month complete with electricity and plumbing.
And of course, you must have a running list of concerns: storage, ventilation, electrical wiring, natural light, more storage, and whatnot.
Is it going to be of great value?
Take the tour and find out.

Suggestions: pocket door for the bathroom, basin and toilet on the other side so entry is not blocked, window in kitchen should be horizontally longer, upper kitchen cabinets should be half as deep as the lower cabinets and easily accessible by 5 foot Filipina women, rain water collection system, aircon should be accessible and placed lower, ladder should be stored elsewhere when not in use. Options should be solar power to be off grid

    • @carlajoycelaron857
      @carlajoycelaron857 2 года назад +30

      Love your suggestions.
      Would also like to add:
Utilize the outdoor space-use it as an outdoor dining area
The dining table is too big for the space, could use a foldable table and chairs inside for rainy days
The daybed could be extendable with foams that could be used as back support for the daybed
The loft doesn't look practical, maybe the angle of the roof could be decreased and add a 10 in-12 inch height from the base of the lowest part of the loft to the roof and add shelves on that part
The aircon isn't placed practically on the smallest room in my opinion, there's some space at the base of the bunk bed to add additional storage
The kitchen countertop is too small (for me ✌️)

I think they made the storage bigger to maximize storage space and I personally prefer it that way. It's easy to contact and add rainwater collector through the downspout and solar power provision through the panel board main entry by contacting different suppliers, but I totally agree with revising the design for a pocket door and the layout of lavatory.

As mentioned by Ms. Meng Hua, the wooden building structure must be protected at all cost from humid intrusion. As such, instead of engineered bamboo coverings, the front and backed walls coverings should be substituted with locally made brick looking like tiles, color of which is to be selected by the purchaser. The tiles will be laid on 3/4" marine plywood for durability, panelized for ease of installations. The panels with be set at about 1 cm spacings. To ensure protection against moisture intrusion, the spacings will be provided with adhesives, color of which is compatible with the tile color. This method will not only merit for ease of installations, durability and aesthetics but will also ensure protection against moisture intrusion and protection against the hot tropical climate. It is assumed that the doors and windows are provided with screens against insect intrusions. The windows must also be water resistant for protection against rain intrusions because of the omission of the roof eaves. For as long as the wooden building facility is fully protected from moisture intrusion and the windows are water resistant, the roofing eaves may be omitted. The windows should also be provided with grills to enhance security from possible burglary occurrence. In any business undertaking, transparency must be promoted by detailing the pricing of what is inclusive and exclusive. The dimensions must also be shown on the floor plans of each modular house to enable prospective buyers to select the modular type compliant to their lot size requirements.

It costs 1.8 million for the top model on lump sum payment terms. You'll be paying for the value of the design, the fast transition into occupancy, and the project management for the delivery and installation. I wonder if delivery and installation is free. It's pretty pricey, looks premium, but there are equivalent 2 storey full sized row houses in low cost subdivision projects. This will work if you're in a hurry, want to build quickly on your own land, and want a stand alone shelter or residence on our property.

Installation and delivery are not free unless they have a promo for that. So yeah really too expensive, plus u have to have your own lot of course and in case of expansion o repair/renovation, you have to hire them. Still go for low cost housing instead of this and still need to consider the climate changing and the natural calamities we normally encounter in a tropical country.

It is quite interesting that the 50 year warranty is only applicable on the structural component and nothing on the house components where engineered bamboo is actually used such as the interior/exterior walls, ceiling, floors, cabinetry, furnitures, etc. Basically none of the engineered bamboo material is guaranteed at all when the company is marketing purely on the use of engineered bamboo. So if the thin veneer of bamboo that is attached to the plywood or fiberboard (as this is basically what an engineered bamboo is made of) peeled off, warped or was damaged due to moisture (with rain & extreme humidity) then the owner/purchaser has to shoulder the cost of replacement.
Also there is no full disclosure on the price of each model unit, lacking good faith in the advertisement. The mention of 8k+ monthly payments, availability of up to 900k financing, 0% interest up to 10 yrs, etc. lacks forthrightness (only exuding a scheme).

Wow. This is amazing. I really love the materials you use, eco friendly and the designs is just amazing. How can we avail the engineered bamboo wood? And How much will cost for a 17sqm house +? Thank you and keep up the good work. We support local products.
