    It is a job that has to be done when living the RV-life, but not what you look forward to:) Good idea that you have a spare hose with you - I guess people should pay attention to that if they do not have one! Incidentally , in Norway it has become popular to install incinerating toilets in RVs (and cabins/tiny houses) to avoid the the problem with black tanks and waste. It works quite well as long as you have gas.

    • @LovingLifeHitchedUp
      @LovingLifeHitchedUp  3 года назад +1

      They have them here as well and composting toilet set ups as well. We do have propane so I suppose it would work but have no experience with that type of set up! As expected this is not my favorite job, LOL

      @@LovingLifeHitchedUp Incinerating ones are far better than the composting toilets as long as you have gas or electricity - for those wondering what an Incinerating toilet is then check out this version for cabins/tiny houses ruclips.net/video/vdQ2OqWhXYQ/видео.html .

    Dealing with a black tank is no fun. Hopefully nuCamp will soon move to cassette toilet in the Tab 400. Dump stations are the worst. I always struggled with how to deal with footwear at dump stations. You know the whole area is contaminated and if you walk on it your shoes are contaminated as well. Either have to have dedicated pair of shoes for dumping or put on disposable booties. If not you contaminate your RV floor or car floor. If you have a cassette toilet, you can dump it in bathrooms etc. And only having only a gray tank to dump would mean you can eliminate the bulky sewer hose and move to just a dedicated gray water garden hose for dumping your gray water tank. Might take a little longer but eliminating the sewer hose maintenance, storage & cleaning is a big win.

    • @LovingLifeHitchedUp
      @LovingLifeHitchedUp  3 года назад

      They have moved to cassette in the 320s and not sure if they have done the same for the 400 yet. The down side is cassette is 9 gals so that means double the dumps.
      One option is disposable booties that you can throw away after use.
      Garden hose for grey????? That is something to think about.
      Thanks for the support!

    I've seen others where you had to crawl under the RV to get to those outlets. Nice that your outlet for both and is on the side. If 2 people camped for a week, how often would you need to do this? Every other day?

    • @LovingLifeHitchedUp
      @LovingLifeHitchedUp  3 года назад

      With full hookups we can keep the Grey tank open and not have to dump the Black tank till the end of the week. With no hook up we can go about 4 days of grey water and 5-6 on black. Its the shower that fills up the grey the quickest.

    I cant tell you how much I appreciate this video! You have eased my apprehension about dealing with the black tank. Do ALL camp sites have individual drainage receptacles at each space?

    • @LovingLifeHitchedUp
      @LovingLifeHitchedUp  3 года назад

      No, not all sites have "full hookups" which is power, water, sewer. quite a few have power and water and a dump station for the sewer and grey water. It's all good with just the 2 until you need to dump then you need to hookup and go dump, or a portable cart to off load some grey or black and wheel it to go dump. Then you can boondock which is self contained no hookups, LOL the possibilities are endless.

    Great tutorial!! I want a T@B 400 one day so I'm learning as much as I can to prepare 😁. When it comes to the black tank hoses, are they hard to keep clean bc of the accordion style corrugating? Also can you use enzymes in your black tank like you would in septic home tanks?

    • @LovingLifeHitchedUp
      @LovingLifeHitchedUp  3 года назад

      Glad you enjoyed the tutorial. Good idea to start learning everything you can before you get your Tab. If you extend the black tank hoses all the way out everything flushes through them. You can use RV specific treatments for your black tank. We use Happy Camper. We've even heard of some people who make their own.

And where can I find one? Thanks again, been watching the last couple of months and you helped me decide on Andersen hitch too! Appreciate it!

    • @LovingLifeHitchedUp
      @LovingLifeHitchedUp  3 года назад

      We greatly appreciate your continued support! The hose I use for the black tank is from Amazon and the shut off is part of the hose, comes with a spitter and also a spray nozzle and bag. Thanks for a great video. I'm trying to drill things into my brain before I get my T@B. This video made me think that I may not even need to hook up the hose (for a weekend trip) until I am ready to leave. If I do hook up, I assume I will have to close off the grey water awhile before my final dump....to have some rinsing water. Can you tell me the brand of water hose you have for the black tank flush? Many thanks!
    Susan

    • @LovingLifeHitchedUp
      @LovingLifeHitchedUp  3 года назад

      Thanks again! We didn’t hook up until the morning we were going to leave. And Yes you want to leave the black tank closed until you plan to dump. You can hook up and open grey tank if you are using a lot of water, but you want to have a pretty good amount of water to help flush out the sewer hose after the black tank dump.. Having a BT flush helps flush the tank. A rookie mistake is keeping black tank open while camping and getting a hose blockage and sewer gas back up into the unit.
