People don't understand that despite the impact a modern series might have even higher than the big 3, it wouldn't change a thing because the big 3 are from a different time period
One Piece is still on the run, so i guess you can argue that it still "competes" with modern series...
@@SergioGarcia-vt6cp it still tops the manga sales whenever a new volume releases tbh. Altho its hype isnt as much as it has been for past 22 years, but its understandable since wano is taking too long to finish
@@malakh2978 Wano's lenght combined with the endings of some modern series reduce its hype. When Wano comes to an end and the major misteries of the series begin to unfold it might recover some of the hype. Plus, i think there is one movie that will be released this year.
Anyhow, it is impressive the consistency of One Piece story and quality. In my opinion, Wano shows the maturity of an author with good ideas and talent, maybe those are samples of the things that explain why One Piece has stayed relevant and succesful through the decades.
@@SergioGarcia-vt6cp the anime seems to be slow but currently, the manga is at the peak of its hype. We’re getting into the final battle. I’m pretty sure the anime has barely started the main battles but I’m not sure
ofc modern anime has higher impact, anime was not mainstream back in the day, now everyone is a fucking weeb
Big 3 is not an opinion, it's a fact. Regardless of the quality, or sales compared to new gen manga, there's still no replacing any member of the big 3. Those 3 series are the reason anime/manga industry is mainstream as it is today, and a lot of current and new gen mangas take heavy inspiration from the big 3.

People trying to say that a newer anime should replace one of the big three is the stupidest thing ever I swear to god
Ye that's so true 💀
@Unoriginal Kōhai the thing is that even if a newer series ultimately does sell more than any of the big 3 by the end of its circulation, that said series wouldn't have even existed if not for 1, or 2, or 3, or any 2, or all 3. As they are what they are, the 3 series that nitro boosted the manga and anime industry not just in its home country but completely internationally. Any replacement or change to the Big 3 would be disrespectful and incorrect in many ways
@Unoriginal Kōhai it's about everything they did. The influence is why they preserve the title, the sales are just the data to back up the claim which cannot be refuted
@Unoriginal Kōhai you dont have to feel anything for the sales, but they're still important
I mean I get the hype but still doesnt replace the legends
I don't know when we would see another "big 3" in our life times. Especially in a cultural sense. So lets appreciate how these three impacted anime and manga.
In a cultural sense? I believe we'll never get another "Big 3". Not in the same way.
Seeing how popular anime and manga are these days, across the antire world, I doubt it will ever die again. The only reason the big 3 is a thing is because they saved anime and manga.
The only thing that can come close to what happened with the big 3 is a series that single handedly brings anime and manga into the area of being a household thing. I doubt it will happen though. It will probably be a small crawl.
Maybe One Punch Man, Demon Slayer, or AOT for the new big 3
In terms of cultural sense in Japan then you have Demon Slayer which heavily impacted the anime / manga industry and pop culture not much for the rest of the world though but in Japan
Nowadays people consider My Hero Academia, Black Clover, and Demon Slayer as Big 3
I wouldn't include AoT, I consider it as Seinen, I could only agree on My Hero Academia. Pacing in Black Clover is bad, Demon Slayer almost have a fight scene for every episode I remember falling asleep on that episode on that Demon with drum of some sort

The amount of disrespect I see being thrown at the big three on tik tok and Twitter is crazy. Being a similar age to mask (19) I can also vouch that these 3 manga were untouchable in the early 2000’s nothing even came close to them and they single handedly paved the way for anime in the west. (obviously having huge help from dragonball as well) The big three isn’t what people thought at the time were the best stories anime had to offer, it signifies the sheer influence they had on the industry.
TikTok and Twitter are probably the worst social media, currently. TikTok is full of brainless people and Twitter of arrogant and ignorant people.

The best analogy I can make with the Big 3 is comparing it to the Sannin from Naruto (Jiraya, Orochimaru, Tsunade). They were 3 really strong ninja from Konoha and from the same generation who received this title after the second ninja war. Even though there are other strong ninja during their generation both in and out of Konoha, the Sannin specifically refers to Jiraya, Orochimaru and Tsunade. As far as I know, there was no Sannin title before these 3 and there is no official title of Sannin for another group of 3 after them. Even though Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke learned from the 3 Sannin, they are never officially called Sannin themselves. Just like the Sannin, there are other popular manga series during the time of the Big 3 but they do not hold the title. Today we have manga that take inspiration from the Big 3 but they do not replace the Big 3 much like how Naruto doesn't replace Jiraya as another Sannin.
Basically the Big 3 is a title that was given to Bleach, Naruto and One Piece given their impact in the anime community and it's not one that can be interchanged with another series.
I love this analogy
This so well written 👏
Bruh the idea of an analogy is too briefly explain something through comparison.

There wont be another big three. The cultural landscape has changed so much since "the big three" was a thing. American TV shows during 2008-2010 were (for the most part) trash so these three series were fertile soil for kids and teens to really fall in love with anime and manga.

I remember being a highschooler in 2010 and every week usually on Friday a new chapter of One Piece, Naruto and Bleach dropped. Times were great I can't even imagine something like that now, glad One Piece still it is how it used to be
I think people forget just how big of an impact "The Big 3": One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto had on future manga creators. Shonen Jump, heck the Manga and Anime industry, in general, wouldn't be as big as it is without these three because they inspired so many of the Mangakas that write banger series today. And if you add in and read all the big shonen across all magazines from the 90's-00's (Hunter x Hunter, Dragon Ball, Slam Dunk, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gintama, Rurouni Kenshin, D. Gray-man, Reborn!, Soul Eater, Shaman King, Inuyasha, and so much more !!!), you start to see how much these series influenced the ones we have today.
I'm just glad to have witnessed Manga and Anime grow so much, and to have these talented people (Mangaka, Animators) bless us with their talent and for sharing the stories they want the world to see.
Honestly Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk seem like a different era to me than the big three era.
It's not called the Top 3. It's the Big 3 because they're the reason anime and manga became so popular for the 2000s which paved the way for the massive streaming boom in the 2010s.
To sum it up: The big three isn’t what’s “the best anime’s” or the best of what shonen has to offer. It’s based on the manga sales and how popular the manga is worldwide.
The big 3 had nothing to do with sales and popularity world wide it was just the 3 things that western audiences liked at a particular time. Bleach was no where near as profitable or success as naruto or one piece and it was never. Really in the top 3 sales on jump like the form 2 are either

I'm part of the 90s gen that got hooked on anime with Pokemon, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z. By the time the Big Three rolled around I had generally lost interest in anime, so I didn't get into them, but on thing I noticed at the time is that the Naruto was absolutely massive in Australia. I begrudged it at the time because I was just a contrarian teen, but I've since come to appreciate it as part of an even bigger wave of acceptance of anime in the West. The three series I mentioned formed a sort of big three for televised english adaptations which massively expanded the english speaking fandom, but what I didn't appreciate at the time was that Shonen Jump's Big Three created an even bigger wave of fandom in the west.
And while I agree series such as AoT aren't part of the Big Three, I do think it's worthy of some discussion for being a series that appealed to a lot of people who weren't already anime fans. Another one to mention is Death Note, which was immensely popular outside of the anime fandom but never had the same manga numbers as the Big Three. Ultimately I think these discussions should focus on what makes a broadly appealing series which grows the fandom overall instead of just dick-measuring about sales and ranking. Love them or hate them, I think all anime and manga fans ought to have some appreciation for the Big Three for being behind the biggest boom in anime and manga fandom to date.

@@nueveswordstyle3413 if you are willing to take time to experience something unique than I would say watch Gintama.
@@lukeanil1336 okay thanks
Man I don’t care about which one is better than the other, they’re all good series.
I count myself lucky, I enjoyed reading all three when they used to come out weekly.
Absolutely - it's straight up disrespectful to the predecessors and the authors/artists/editors who paved the way for anime as we know it. Attack on Titan absolutely did explode anime popularity into the mainstream, but it wasn't the first, it just made anime seem more acceptable/less weird to enjoy. Dragon Ball paved the way for Bleach, Naruto and One Piece, and all four of those shows influenced basically everything after - storytelling, tropes, style, humor, battles, etc - similar to how JoJo's had a huge impact on manga and anime (though its impact was not the same).
They are called the Big Three because they literally carried Shonen Jump through the years, they're the flagship series that went on for more than a decade each and are still ongoing (well, all except Bleach, which is coming back soon anyway, and yes I do count Boruto as much as it pains me).
They're like the Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman of DC - no one argues those three are the "big three" of DC - so why is this still an argument? Superman comics literally made Detective Comics what it is, Batman and Wonder Woman also soon became flagship characters and are household names and the three characters consistently pull the biggest sales (Justice League comics aside). The "Trinity" annual issues, of course, usually sell very well.
There wasn't a "big three" before them, and there won't be after, not in the same way. Put some respect on their names.
One piece > bleach > naruto imo and they’re all goated in their own right
Personally I’d go Bleach > OP > Naruto I love all of em tho
@@NinthShinigami bleach is so underrated/overhated

Agreed

its called opinion
Because Naruto has better emotional moments, fights and character backstories. Naruto’s entire upbringing (or lack thereof) Gaara vs lee, Jiraiya’s death, Sasuke vs Naruto, obito vs Kakashi, Itachi’s back story and motivation. I get bleach gets a lot of unnecessary hate but let’s not act like there aren’t reason it’s the least favored of the big three
Imo Big three will never happen again there is just too much output now days.
Also good video appreciate it
As someone who's fan of all big 3 and Dragonball, this video just made my day
Thank you for being politely blunt and explaining exactly what the big 3 are and WHY they are that. I never truly knew about it
Laughing because people are heartbrocken that you said that you like bleach more than HxH and AOT
It’s just an opinion yet people get so butt hurt over it it’s actually hilarious

They brought back the Bleach Anime after 10 + years, there is no argument. No manga that I can think of has ever had that happen. Naruto is having some sort of revival in popularity after being completed for over 5 years and One Piece is the top selling manga. People really don't get the impact these manga have on both Japan and the States. There are some wonderful series currently being made or have just started but to this day nothing has had the same impact. Hunter x Hunter is an honorable mention but it is not in terms of sales nearly as popular.
Each of these 3 series have a special place in my heart for getting me to love anime and manga. Their influence can be seen in the new battle shonen getting serialized today.
Thanks for clearing that up. So many people think that the big three means that those are the three best anime and they dont even recognize the impact that the mangas had.
I have never seen so much respect for bleach
As it deserves🔥
As an anime fan i grew up with dragon ball and the first experiences with anime(when i actually knew it's called anime) as a middleschooler was the big three and they had a huge impact on me(not you Naruto but i still respect it) now a days new anime fans wanna include there favorite new age shounen just cuz they like it disregarding the big three who inspired most if not all new age shounen
Sameee!! Dragonball has been rejected for quite a while.. it has been a while since the anime so I think that could be why
It's funny how it's the exact opposite for me,and that only naruto who had a big impact on me in my elementary school days and we have the same pfp

The big three were my introduction to anime and manga and will always be fondly remembered
I remember I was shocked as well when I found out how many people didn‘t know what the Big 3 are
It's disappointing when nI see people try to kick bleach out
it's always bleach getting treated like this and I guarantee that people are not going to keep the same energy when the anime comes back
Am I the only who cringes when they see somebody who typed “old gen 3 or the new gen 3” like stop trying to make up stuff that isn’t there

I remember like 12 years ago walking to any manga shop and Naruto, One Piece and Bleach's most recent volumes were always right at the entrance. It was so crazy, literally every manga shop had these big 3 on display above all others.
Big three are a cultural touchstone, nuff said
the fact that the Big 3 not only had to jump over previous cultural perceptions about animation as a medium to tell more mature stories as a whole to an entirely different culture, with language barriers, sociological differences in humor, AND making their stories engaging to the point that they retain this sort of moniker to this day is nothing short of insanity.
i remember my buddy showing me a copy of Shonen Jump in the physical release of the magazine with Naruto on the cover and him explaining the fact you had to read from right to left which baffled me. But it always stuck with me. Ive read/am up to date with all Big 3 series. And while I have my issues with each series, I can wholeheartedly say no era can matfh this.
The shifting of an entire generations perspective of anime/manga in an entirely new culture is a phenomenon that cannot happen again. Anime is cool, or at least not to be something to get bullied over now (from my perception at least idk im 25)
Thats why the Big 3 is so important and special to me. I doubt there will be anything else like it if Im being honest
Was always confused why Dragonball wasn’t in the big 3, I guess it’s like more like a big brother to the 3
Thank you for doing this, honestly, thank you 💕
The big 3 is basically the mount Rushmore of shounen
Grandpa Goku and his kids
Respect db for what It did
It's ok to criticize these iconic manga , it's just annoying when people do it for attention and to look like they have this superior mature taste , i criticize Naruto , bleach , one piece and DBZ sometimes and that's because it's frustrating to see something you love not reaching its full potential , but for me their flaws are eclipsed by the amount of what they gave us , there are some good new manga but it feels like the age of icons is over and so maybe we should appreciate them more , sure we can discuss the imperfections but let's not dwell on them for too long
I have yet to see Bleach, but I don’t like the other two. I’ve heard some people say Bleach is the best one though. Should I even try to read it or no?
@@sprawlz6466 maybe you'll like it , it does somethings different , the fact that you didn't like the other two makes me think you're not a shonen person but maybe bleach will suit you're taste i say go for it
@@micow9951 yeah I don't usually like shonen. I love Chainsaw Man, FMAB, and Trigun. I thought Death Note, FMA 2003, and this manga called To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts were also really good. Then I think HxH, Mob Psycho, and AoT are pretty cool. But I think that ends the list of shonens that I would say I like.
If Bleach is paced faster than something like One Piece and has a less convoluted power system than stuff like Naruto then I might like it. I hate when the surface level plot of a story gets really overly complicated or super drawn out for no reason. HxH was on my shit list for a while because of that lol
I recommend reading the manga for Bleach its considered better than he anime lol to give the first arc sometime to pop off idk why you wouldn't give Bleach a try it apart of the big 3 yeah you didn't have the best experience with the other 2 but finish the last one lol
@@sprawlz6466 read Naruto manga it’s better than the anime and just watch fight clips on tt
*_I managed to watch 2, being Bleach and Naruto._*
*_The latter was an inspiration for a style for my own stories and art..._*
The Big Three's status is unquestionable and can't be debated. I'd wager my left nut that in most of the world (excluding probably the Anglosphere, and maybe the absolute poorest countries in the world) that you can strike up a decently long convo with a complete stranger about the Big Three, it works just like football. You don't get this with any other anime of the 00s, there just isn't any 00s anime on that same playing field.
Man, you put Bleach above Hunter x Hunter AND Attack on Titan?!
I thought I'm the only one, who loved Bleach that much XD
Hell nah brother you got another one right here
Ngl I been sleeping heavy on Bleach, still trying to catch up so I can witness the final arc in all its glory lol
And another one
Don't worry, bro. I'm right there with you.
Read the manga instead my mans its considered better than the anime lol
Not one day in my damn life have I seen anyone suggested replacing naruto or one piece it's always Bleach. I pray that Kubo fixes the problems with tybw arc just to lessen the slander just a little.
love your vids bro i have recently finish reading all three in the big 3 i read bleach last because of my bias and what i heard about it but when i finished it i really enjoyed it and they're all solid manga and should be respected for what they accomplished
AOT is not just from a different magazine, but it also started much later.
I don't know about anyone else, but here in Italy they didn't make a dub for the Bleach anime until 2021, so he doesn't have the cultural impact of Dragon ball, One Piece and Naruto in the italian community.
people that think the big three should be different don't understand it
It's not a thing anime fans made, the big three is oficially the big 3 shonen anime/manga and nobody can change it
As a kid I remember all 3 series blowing my mind, I thought they were all awesome. I was so confused why people online were fighting because I loved each series so much.
Great video, I've seen to many people not getting what the big three is and I'm sick of explaining It
