    Got a kick out of Mathild's voice over of the penguins running across that little iceberg 😄

    Loved the music, whales, penguins and icebergs. What an amazing continent that you are so fortunate to be able to visit. Interesting to watch what goes on at the bridge to safely navigate in some challenging waters. Not convinced the best way to die is to be eaten by a whale.....but to each their own.

    • @NextMeridianExpedition

    The clarity of everything is amazing - the snow, the light, the water. It's a magical blue and white world. Also, fascinating to get a glimpse of the workings on the bridge. But I see that your usual enthusiasm for diving in for a swim has diminished.

    Iceberg and penguins in the Antarctic Circle. More than a fantastic place.

  • @russmartin4189
    @russmartin4189 9 месяцев назад +6

    Beautiful. Just think, only 20,000 years ago, at glacial maximum, much of N. America and Europe looked like that. By 12,000 years ago they had mostly retreated, but they are still retreating today. When the dinosaurs were around, the planet was warm, they were above the arctic circle, there were no polar ice caps, and the polar temperature was probably a little lower than 0 C at the coldest. Seas were as much as 700 meters higher and would have covered all those rock formations in the American SW, had they existed yet. In any case, Antarctica is special. You will be the only overlanders who have it.

    • @NextMeridianExpedition
      @NextMeridianExpedition  9 месяцев назад

      It is really fascinating the history of continents 😍 also all the projections related to melting Antarctica are really interesting

    • @russmartin4189
      @russmartin4189 9 месяцев назад

      It will@@NextMeridianExpedition It will probably take a few hundred years for Antarctica to melt, very short geologically, Personally, I do not think it will spell the end of humanity. Everywhere on the planet will warm up, and some green areas will become deserts, but other places will become more suitable for farming or have longer growing seasons. Mankind actually started building all the cities by the coasts too soon. They should have waited a couple thousand years. The glaciers have been melting since 20,000 years ago, So, it was like the tide was coming in when they put in the foundations. . They should have waited until the water level stopped going up. That will not happen, so they will have to build dikes around many cities. I don't think it is possible to turn it around. The earth goes through freeze and thaw cycles. Man has sped up this one, that is for sure, but animals have flourished in much warmer times than we are having now or projected to have. It will be a different place though. People will mighrate to where it is more hospitable. By the way, some places are alread experiencing population declines, such as China, Russia, and Japan, I believe. Others will too. Enjoy your expedition! Wish I was there!

    I used to love your adventures. Lately, you have become overly "commercial" for my taste. I find that I fast-forward more and more of your videos, and I increasingly move over to watch the posts BlueLandy team. In any case, wish you good luck with youy ongoing travels.
