Terry is a dinosource of Adobe products. I was learning Photoshop 15 years ago and he was already teaching how to master it. Great source of knowledge.

Terry White, I also would like to give you a massive THANK YOU 😊. Three years ago, I studied animation and film. We lightly touched on InDesign, and then our tutor pretty much just left us to it. Your tutorials really saved my bacon and I ended up graduating, all thanks to you and Mike Hermes (he does Maya tutorials) ♥️👍.

Thank you very much for this video Mr. Terry, for long time I tried to find an answer, how to use two master pages. When ever I create the second master page it was not applying to the pages. Finally, I got an answer for it. Thank you very much.

26:18 Yes It is possible to convert document pages to master pages. Just select the document spread that you want to convert in the pages panel and go to the master pages options and choose master pages - select save as Master.

Hi Terry, I am learning a lot from you. I am putting together a 100 page book. My first 9 pages are each different with no page numbers until page 10. Ex: 2 blank pages, 1 presented to page, 1 cover page,1 ISBN page, 3 introduction pages, 1 dedication page. How do I start my first master page on page 10? Thank you.

Hi- Quick question, working on a book in InDesign. I unlocked text boxes in pages 6-7 in order to insert content. These pages were taking on Parent Page A settings (fonts, etc). When I later made changes to Parent Page A (font size, etc) -- pages 6-7 where I had unlocked text to insert content earlier---did not take on the new changes made in Parent Page A. If I "apply parent to ___" page, the parent overrides the content that I had placed inside the text boxes of pages 6-7. Should I have done something differently? I also tried repeating this proess and locking (CTRL + L) the text boxes in pages 6-7 after inserting content into them, then making changes to Parent Page A, but nothing worked. Would love some guidance. Thanks so much.

Say you have different page masters with different text layouts-is there a way to change pages (that have existing text) from one master to another and have the text layout change?

Wow! This is helpful! I am curious, I am working on it with the master page, one of my professors did give me misinformation with all one pages from the master page, I am struggling with how to use master pages can edit inside of Master Pages, not the original pages supposed to be two pages all the way. How do you can demonstrate to me that master pages can edit inside for copy and paste perfectly with two pages, not one page? How do you can explain how to make a difference between the two pages and one page from the master pages of Adobe Indesign?

I am writing a cookbook in InDesign. I'd like to use a master page for each of my recipe formats. This works for the most part. When I click on a blank page, I can Ctrl-Shift to unlock the text frames and enter the recipe information. However, as I get more recipes, I need to "insert" pages into the middle of the cookbook. When I do that, it pushes the pages to the right and I get the original recipe text frames overlapping new text frames. I originally had default text in each text box such as "Title," "Ingredients," and "Directions" so the recipe information now sits on top of that text on new pages. Should I just delete the default text and let it have two overlapping text frames since I can't see them when printed? Or am I using master pages incorrectly? I saw a cookbook tutorial and they just copy and pasted the text frames on new document pages, but I want the ability to change the shape, size, and location of the text frames globally in the future. Thank you.

Is it possible to remove items applied with master pages on SOME pages you are working on but keeping the rest? I put an image on a document via master pages, but certain pages I do not want the image.... how can I delete the image and not do all of them manually

Thank you so much! I have just started watching your teaching videos. You explain things very clearly and I appreciate that! I am trying to set up a fixed-format ebook because it's not working in the free flow format. Many of my pages have two graphics and a text description using different fonts for different parts of the description. Can I set up a master page or pages so that all those pages will have a set location for the graphics and a set format for the description? I don't want to 'eyeball' it.

hello Terry! Thank you for amazing video! I would like to ask you what to do, if my "master page" text frames are frozen even they are unlocked, and are not applicable to my ordinary pages (dotted frame appearance, to paste any text is not possible)... if you knew what to do I would be happy :-)

thanks for your informative tutorial. i have a question. in designing 2-sided books, is it possible to apply a 2-page master page to a single page? i mean, is it possible for the software to automatically decide which page of the master page (odd or even one) should be applied to our target page? if not, is there an efficient way to do that?

Hi Terry, I am new to InDesign (ID) and really like going through your training. I am in the process of editing a novel. I have a couple of questions....
    1. I have broken up the manuscript into chapters and plan to drag and drop the doc file into an ID chapter file and then compile the ID files into a single ID file. my question is, is there a way to find/replace text with picture or clipart? For example: I have ### have a place holder to show a scene change or topic and want to replace it with a picture or some thing else to show the change. what are your thoughts?
    2. Any suggestions that you or anyone else on possible training you have done that would be good for this newbee would be great.
    Thank you for your help

Thanks. I was curious if there was a way to ad "MASTER-B" in-between "MASTER-A". Master-A is the front of a postcard (with Variable Data Printing) and the back is a background with no VDP. I have over 700 postcards, so I was hoping there was a quick way to "insert Master-B" in-between "Master-A"
