I had a 90 lb female Malamute who lived to be almost 17 years. I bought her when I was 18 years old and we trained each other. She was a fabulous house dog and over her lifetime lived in both apartments and houses with yards. I never found that she was difficult to house train, she was actually amazing. She never barked, and only howled occasionally.
I had a Malamute for 15 years, she was sweet but very independent, she would walk herself lol.. Also she was good with our house cats and our horses but other outdoor animals she was very pray driven. She only cost us 75$ to purchase.
@Jacob Brickey cool will have to check them out.. green and blue eyes are most stunning especially when you see them contrast with dark skinned people.. Why do you think inuits didn't get blonde and blue eye? Caucasians were settled longer?
The Alaskan malamute protects children though and it's good to get lots of exersize to lose weight and some huskys sometimes eats baby's My mum told me
Extremely friendly with people???? Nope. Not true at all. My vet told my mother that the Alaskan malamute is to close to the wolf and that was why he was so aggressive towards me, ripping my face open at 6 years old. Don't get me wrong at the end of the day it really wasn't the dogs fault, it was my parents. They had the signs what he was going to do for a looong time before he actually bite me in my face but to say that this breed is "extremely friendly" is truly grasping for straws and projecting the ideal that this is a family friendly breed and I can tell you from experience that this breed is not for families with young children. at. All. Period. And the Alaskan Malamute that bit me my father had since a puppy. Don't recommend this breed whatsoever.
