why are people mad about it? She’s just drawing the Ariel from the cartoon. What wouldn’t be ok was if she titled the video “live action Ariel” but she just titled it ariel. I personally think that since ariel has been black and white it doesn’t really matter since neither would be incorrect.

I love the original Ariel design, her hair was so vibrant bloom red and her beautiful blue eyes and rosy cheeks complement her purple shells and green tail, character design is perfection, not too much or too little, it's just right!

I like the animated version of Ariel more, don’t get me wrong I have nothing against the live action version but what I’ve seen so far it looks kinda dull, and has the lighting equivalent to a horror movie lol. (I’m not trying to be nasty to any of the actors, just not a fan of the way the movie was presented lol) The animation in the oh was so lively and saturated and you did just a fantastic job converting that energy into your art!
i agree, i hate how most of the disney remakes have to go with such a desaturated appearance just because it’s a live action film.

good paper makes all the difference!!! i’m still trying to find the perfect paper, my copics absolutely despise my sketchbook paper lol. when blending i tend to have the colours im blending uncapped at the same time, saturating the area with the lighter colour first and then coming in straight away with the second colour seems to work best, and if i want to push it further, i come back in the lighter colour and try to drag the other colour out :) hopefull this can help u!

You’re my new inspiration as an artist, I’ve been doing art for many years, only took on class in high school but my talent comes from my own trials and errors. For years I’ve struggled to find my style and method of application… I was confident with pencil but something was missing, painting just wasn’t for me and colored pencils didn’t give me the satisfaction when completed. I soon discovered about 3 years ago that alcohol markers was my calling and my style was comic book.

I don’t think it’s hate on the actress herself but more on Disney’s choice of “representation.” In my opinion they should have included Haley in another movie as maybe her own princess :). @@MiracleStar0 respectable. For me I chouldnt care less. I am white and was raised on classic Disney. Seeing aerial having a different skin color dose not bother me. And I think her features are gorgeous but slightly uncanny like you'd expect from a sea creature. My issue is I hate having media I enjoyed as a kid trudged up and used as nostalgia bait. Disney chose the Haley because they were definitely trying to make an appeal to diversity. And like I'm all for diversity but Disney is a souless coperation and that dose not come from a good place. I often feel that people who complain about the actress are only seeing apart of the picture or focusing on the wrong things.
But fair enough each their own. If you arnte going to see the movie and I won't go see the movie the same outcome occurs anyways. And if you do end up watching the movie it's only a drop in the bucket and you arnte a bad person.

They could have done something SOOO GOOD with Halle. But no, they wasted her talent on a live action remake that doesn’t even look that good. I’m not Black, but I do feel like they could’ve given Black representation in a better way… y’know, instead of race swapping and giving Black people hand-me-downs. Just create another Black princess, less representation taken away while more is given, and there is another Black princess than just Tiana.
Yesssss the real Ariel don’t get me wrong I do love the live action version but I would’ve liked to see Ariel looking like what I grew up with.
TBH, nothing against the live action actress but this is the Ariel I know and love, the character design is perfect and comforting because this version of her is what I grew up with.

I think the live action missed an opportunity to make things more vibrant and characteristic with Ariel herself to match the rest of the ocean and when she comes up to land she’s a little more like a fish out of water

So pretty! I love your art style and how you draw hair! It’s so flowy and lively! Though it looked like the ink wasn’t dry enough when you started coloring the skin and occasionally with the hair. Kind of sucked to see that vibrant color accidentally get dulled. Perhaps you could wait a little longer for the ink to dry or get some more absorbing paper (sorry I don’t know what they’re called). I also believe there’s a spray that can make the ink not smudge.
Either way, really great! Just that small thing. Hope you keep getting all this attention

I bought alcohol markers a long time ago and i'm actually afraid to use them because i get unhappy with my sketches sometimes that i never actually complete it into a drawing, and because of that, my alcohol markers and sketchbook are just sitting aside not being used 😭 i'm so frustrated about it urghh
About the live action
It's not about the race ,for the majority, I believe no one intended to hate the beautiful actress either ,she is not at fault in this ,they may hate her role yes , but ofc not her as a person.
You should understand why people are angry.
When people hate the live action they hate it because that wasn't the ariel they wished to see ,if Disney made a new film of a new original black mermaid, will anyone say a thing ? No one will say anything cause it's a new character
,race swap is not ok no matter what you think ,its not about the little mermaid fairytale it's about ariel character of Disney,,,people grow with a certain image of that character for decades and attached to that ,Disney if were really care about representation why not get an original story of black mermaid? It will be more creative,beautiful and no body will say a thing ...They only care about getting money
