  • In DeRidder Louisiana is an old haunted jail that is no longer in use. I joined up with some paranormal investigators to see if we could find any activity inside the old jail, and we did find some evidence! The outside of the jail was used for the Netflix movie 'Eli'.
    Huge thanks to Marlena and Patty at the DeRidder Gothic Jail for having us and showing us around!

    Huge thanks to Kevin Betzer and Randy Hardy, both of Deep South Paranormal, and Randy’s girlfriend Melissa for inviting me to come along with them on this amazing adventure.

    Thought this was good for a beginner. I have lived with/around the paranormal most of my life. I know you didn't but I was absolutely stunned at the other investigators laughing during the portal sessions. Those spirits were trying to tell their story and I thought the laughing was completely disrespectful.

    The jail is actually open for tours now, they also have a haunted house every year in October. They also do Gothic Jail After Dark, with lantern tours of the old jail. I'm from the outskirts of Rosepine, DeRidder's neighbor. It's a beautiful building, I have yet to go on a tour there, I'm waiting to get proper paranormal equipment first. But as someone from the area and familiar with the building, it gives off a foreboding atmosphere, even passing by it on the road.

    WOW! Hearing the hanging door go BOOM. Imagine the man pleading for his life before the fall. What hell the inmates went through and the family that lived on the first floor. After the hanging I wonder how long they allowed the body to stay in that state before lowering it and having the doctor see if the inmate was dead yet. I imagine the noose did the trick quite effectively, breaking the neck, very "humane". On another note, would like to see the Fleming Plantation in Lafitte and the stoies of Lafitte having stayed there. Thanks for your work and allowing us to visit these places via the internet.

    • @NOLADEEJ
      @NOLADEEJ  5 лет назад +1

    • @williamkeith8944
      @williamkeith8944 5 лет назад +1

      Teresa they had the county coroner (a physician) on hand for the hanging. The fall would break the neck and death occurred immediately as the spinal column was severed and nerves herniated, breathing and consciousness ended in 20 seconds or so. Doctor would check for pulse. There was no pulse so body was let down and taken for burial. Some executed prisoners were sent to local medical schools for student dissection. Burial most often in unmarked, unsanctified graves. At execution there was also a chaplain for last rights, hear confession and pray for the condemned.

      I believe they said the first inmate took 11 to 12 minutes to die. The warden had to pull on his leg to assist.

    The hand prints on the black covers is from the Halloween events that the owners host every year. They put stuff and make rooms in the cells as a haunted house sort of ordeal.

I like you and the other male investigator, but I didn't appreciate all of the unprofessional laughter- especially from the loud woman who was constantly talking and giggling. Extremely unprofessional. Please watch some of the HOPE Paranormal or Steve Huff's videos for examples of how to take an investigation seriously and how to be respectful when engaging with the spirits. Paranormal professionals aren't just about gathering data, they are supposed to be there to help trapped spirits cross into the light. This video treats the whole thing likes it's a Halloween sleepover party.
