EMTs/Paramedics are NOT getting paid enough for their work and sacrifices. This is worth writing to our government officials about fixing this, especially during these times.

Very true, when you go out on that call or on a transfer, you will never know what the outcome is, but we may be responding to that same patient the next week, next month, or next year. etc. But I enjoy working as an EMT, It give me a sense of compassion for the community I service. But there are some days I wish I was not on that particular call, like pediatrics or DOAs. those hit hard, but you still have a job to do and maintain that professionalism at all times.

Trust me, these new ambulances aren’t as good. The Ford transit vans are lighter, and handle a bit better, and manage in tighter spots...but that’s it. The Box ambulances are much better for patient care, and personnel on board, and mechanically more reliable. Old Ford E350’s are great, and the Medium Duties are awesome. The best right now are the new Ram 4500, and 5500’s. Some company’s and Fire stations will even run Kenworth or International rigs if they have the space.

If you want to do it go for it. Just know not stay a basic your whole career. Eventually use it to go onto something better. If a great place to start and to use as a stepping stone.
