I really love listening to Lego designers talk about their creations. You can see their faces light up when they're talking about something that they really care about and it's lovely. The way these two discuss the challenges, the design elements, and the decisions made....it's why I continue to buy Lego. That passion is hard to come by, especially in the corporate world. It's wonderful.
The last floor has a printed tile which has a green lanyard with sunflowers! It's actually a lanyard you can obtain when you have a disability in certain countries to get accomodations and to signal it to others without having to explain too much! Never thought I'd see it in an official LEGO set!
@@legochickenguy4938 Yeah, arguably. I believe that TLG should try to experiment more with varied architectural styles. Be bolder. At least in a regard of the modular buildings, because otherwise they've already been doing that for a while in their 'City' theme, 'Friends' and 'Creator 3-in-1'.
I think the general consensus is that people love this set (especially here in the UK). It works as a modular and really well as a standalone set. Instant purchase for sure!
They said they held themselves to a really high standart, and they didn't just one-upped themselves with this set, they triple-upped themselves! This might be one of the best looking modulars of all time
"It is a bit intimidating when you have to design a modular, because expectations are super high" - well, I believe François, Ashwin, and the team absolutely outperformed the expectations! :D All those interesting angles (I haven't even noticed the angled wall on the ground floor on the main set image, haha), the roof technique, the gold droid legs for the fence... it is just mind blowing, can't wait to build this set! I couldn't really imagine how will it look next to other modulars, but according to the image on the back of the box, it'll look fantastic!
It's astonishingly beautiful! my mouth dropped just by looking at it. I think it might be my favourite one! They could have definitlivly made it with less details and would still remained truly awsome, but the designers chose not to cut any corners and made a real master piece. everything on it is a real chef kiss. congratulations to the designers.
As a German Lego Fan this also reimendes me a bit of out classic Town houses. For me its definitely one of the best modulars, that has come out in the past years !
This will be my first modular- going to put it in my Christmas village - I hope it does very well - would love to see old Danish, and German and other Northern Europe buildings as well. Or a stone farm after Irish or Scottish countryside . Very well done!
Wow, that is awesome, I don't really have any modulars but I feel like this might have to be a must purchase! Being British I love the fact that it is not another North American themed building. The attention to detail is so good. The printed piece in the flat with the sunflower lanyard is so important to people with hidden disabilities. My daughter has autism and relies on her lanyand when out of the house!
Wow, first of all I want to say thanks for the rivew with the designers, it shows insight and lets them tell there story. This set looks absolutely amazing and a definite must get for me. The last module I bought was the 2015 Detective office at that time known as Creator Expert. In conclusion this set is amazing and I will finally have a coner next to the detectives office. Thanks a ton for the review.
The printed tile in the cat lady's apartment has the hidden disability lanyard. As someone with a hidden disability this is a really cool acknowledgement.
What a charming design! And so many unique details, especially the removable walls/stair sections to access the elements. Looking forward to the full review, but my first impression is that it will make a lovely addition!
Great job guys, it really rocks ! That would have been my self Xmas gift if it had been available a few days sooner 🙂 I'm also proud that it was lead design by a french guy. Good job François, you should be very proud (I'm sure you are, it is well deserved).
Just below the roof, looks like those new long white cheese slopes are positioned with a gap between them that fits a 1x2 black tile just attached in pressure. Is that right? And again: Super nice interview, it is another experience to have an interview with questions from a builder perspective, so much richer than others LEGO youtubers. Thank you, Tiago.
Wow, that looks WAY better than I thought it would! I think this rivals the boutique hotel in how good it looks, possibly even better. There's so much surface detail and ornamentation! Will definitely be getting this.
This looks fantastic. There seems to be a lot of ‘British’ Lego at the moment with this, Endurance and the red telephone box! Even half of Concorde too I guess 😂
One of the most visual appealing modulars to date! It's not only unique but I love when colors don't go overboard and follow real life references! Reckon this will go on well with the Boutique Hotel
It’s gorgeous! I can see initial concern that it could maybe get mixed reviews from certain fans if they have a city set up and feel it’s out of place, but it’s realistic to have historical buildings in older cities, esp where the oldest ones have been partially rebuilt over the years. So even if it stands out, it still fits. And there’s so many modulars that use historical design elements that I’m more familiar with here in America, like American Victorian or art deco, but I get how Tudor fits in like that esp around parts of the UK. And I like them encouraging the use of colors together like this, it fits the aesthetic of the architecture.
This modular is beautiful! I love the tudor style Definitely one of my new favorites The hat store and clock shop are amazing, the pub is great Its cool that the hat shop owner is a sigfig of Chris McVeigh The clock shop gave me an idea that there could be a locksmith in a modular building With a hat store I was hoping for new hat molds, but it doesn’t seem like there will be any. I wish it wasn’t a corner building, we need a 32×32 one building modular that fills most of the baseplate. Hopefully next year
I love it 🥰 very intrigued by the last floor building technique. It’s actually really modern, but I think it would have made it even more modern and realistic to give the right side with the shop an even more modern feel/design. But well done guys!!! ❤ It’s beautiful.
I can't believe I forgot about the new modular building. Haven't bought any of them since the boutique hotel, but the colors, cool angled wall, tons of fun microbuilds, I think they got me. It looks gorgeous.
Amazing Modular! The roof looks very interesting. I enjoy having different types of buildings on my LEGO street, it makes it vibrant. Hope this one comes with a GWP too.
This "old guarded in" print treatment should have been given to all the building signs in the Medieval Town Square (This is how you treat your customers - high quality prints instead of cheap stickers). Old complaints aside, this build is really gorgeous. I was considering to start a Modular Collection around the Boutique Hotel, The Museum made it even harder to say no - but this might actually double as a nice medieval building with some fancy mods. I really like it. And I truly hope this sells well. maybe it will endear LEGO to do an old timey like of sets (farms, renaissance fair and so on) that can work as medieval sets as well as city / small town sets.
Always like to reserve full judgment until I see it with my own eyes, but my goodness, this looks sensational on first viewing. Love the subject matter!
I like it. My one fault if my phone screen isn’t deceiving me is use of decals on the round pieces for signs and clocks. Presuming not only a bit of difficulty applying centered, but also aligning twelve o’clock on each piece as it doesn’t look like they are rotatable.
So good!! Good enough to be a stand alone model too. I expect there will be a rebrickable roof to make the whole thing look more modern, but I definitely won’t be using it. 🤪 Great work to the team, and congrats on the modular! edit: The new deco at 9:04 is very reminiscent of Scala to me!
This is great, but I can never watch these kinds of videos, because then I will no longer have the pleasure of discovering all the details on my own, when I build the set myself.
absolutely love this set, aesthetically from the outside it may be my favorite ever. i only wish they never had stopped using the classic lego smiley faces for all these sets
From what I can see now, it's a quality product that right up there with all the others. Good building techniques, nice details and a proper amount of playability. That said, I don't think the traditional British architecture fits in with the more classical 'main street's vibe most modulars are. Don't get me wrong, I do like the style, but this style will fit better with the more Robin Hood/Medieval them and not the modular lineup. However, we've seen Lego experimenting outside this classical style with the Diner and boutique hotel, but nothing as drastically different as this. I think the small building on the right wil fullfil a role to have it blend in a little better with the other modulars. What I absolutely don't like about this and several other modulars is that they are not built all the way to the side or the front. We've seen it already in the Persian Restaurant, Market Street, Boutique Hotel and the Diner where thet all have some sort of staircase at the side. The problem is that the sides of modulars are not built to be esthetically pleasing so ugly walls of the adjacent modular are visible. Also the right side of the Police Station was set way to far back which also causes the ugly sides to be exposed. I also had to get creative to have the "Soap & Suds" advert properly visible. I don't mind an alleyway or staircase in the middle just like the Detectives Office or Assembly Square, but Lego should stop exposing the sides. But I'm exited to see your in depth review on this model. Maybe I'll change my mind.
Maybe it will grow on me over time. I'm a modular building completist, so I have to buy it. But at first glance, it looks very busy with a lot of contrasting colors. I'm not the biggest fan of corner modulars and ones that have two many themes going on. I think the watchmaker shop could have been sacrificed for a larger apartment. And maybe skip the haberdasher in order to have a larger pub/restaurant. Not the same feels as the Natural History Museum last year, but hope I learn to love it over time.
7:37 I remember experiencing this too. The Modular Police Station definitely had an older graphic design for the clock face in the instructions than the piece provided in the set.
At first glance: most beautiful modular so far. Now I regret I stopped collecting this line and sold all my modulars. Well, you cant have it all. I need the space for my Star Wars collection.

Misspelled the graphic designer's name. It's Ashwin Visser, not Ahwin Visser!
Still sounds like a Dutchie 😉
Contender for best looking modular of the line!
So people DO like it!

I did not know that! Cool!
It's for people with hidden disabilities and I believe it is global, or at least they are trying to make it so.
I just read their press release, Lego is now officially supporting Sunflower initiative :)
And there is a female minifig wearing the lanyard. According to Lego she is neurodivergent.
came hear to say this too! what a great inclusion. hats off to lego
Hands down best looking modular building so far.
I've liked the Downtown Diner the most. Mostly because it was something different.
