This is a curious claim. Can you clarify? The convertible is about 300lbs heavier and less HP than the S model. Are you referring to the illusion of speed, fun from the open top feel? I tested several MCS and base models with manual transmissions and auto. Hadn’t tested the convertible yet but I plan to. I will say that strangely, the 2015 MCS I tested manual was a lot more peppy than the 2024 JCW manual I tested. I was not too impressed with the JCW for some reason. Especially for 47k. Perhaps the brand new cars are detuned until a certain amount of mileage on them, but I found the new car to be too comfy and not as raw as the 2015. I also used to own a 2012 MCS and in my opinion the older ones just seem much more fun and go cart like. But I do plan to probably get an S convertible to replace the open top of my Jeep which I love and I think since I do a lot of trips to the beach, it will check my Jeep boxes since I don’t off-road much.
Always found Mini interesting. Cool little cars.. but they have been a German company for a long time. So the British love is confusing. Same way how Jeep loves the American theme, or Volvo and Swedish. 🤷🏼♂️
It was still designed by the brits and they infused it with a lot of British car culture and little signature touches to give it a British identity. The brand built a loyal following and when the Germans bought it, they were buying that brand and the things people were attached to. They wisely kept that, because its what makes the car special. So its still very much a British car, with German caretakers of the brand
I love my mini S convertible. The top down is great but driving with the top up has a HUGE blind spot and makes changing lanes to the right frightening. You have to use your mirror because turning your head is useless. All you see is the soft top. I have owned other convertibles without this issue. My only issue with my car.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I understand. The closest dealership is 1.5 hours away, so it's kind of a pain just to take a test drive. They are not big in my area.
Im 6ft6 and always been fine and Very comfortable in my mini hatch, i would say probably best nobody sits behind, but plenty of knee space and head space, recently test drove a convertible and surprisingly more head room than a hard roof hatch, would recommend, I’ve had 3 minis, and never even had so much as a back twinge hehe, hope this helps
@@Beardy_Scotsman hey, thanks for the response. I actually made it to the dealership and test drove one. Definitely had more room than I expected. Was not quite as comfortable as I'd hoped with the sport seats and all, but not bad. I decided to go a different direction, though.
I do driving mini cooper before it was awesome experience decided to purchased one as my daily driver I still had 2021 Nissan Rogue Use daily towing and hauling across state and engine had misfires or tried to stall I did change oil every 15,000 miles For mini cooper I changed every 5,000 miles
@Bros FOURR Speed I'm not saying anything against my favorite car channel, Bros 4 speed - I'm going off "Car complaints" where they rate the reliability of all vehicles for the last 25 years, and anything mini Cooper is not reliable. I've driven one before, and considered buying one until I heard how BMW slapps them together. It's like GM, they put their time and effort into the C7 and C8 Vettes, but little attention and quality goes into the Chevy sonic and cavalier type vehicles. BMW does the same - mini Cooper just doesn't have the same quality as a M3 or M5 just like Nissan doesn't put into an Altima as supposed to an expensive quality GTR. All companies save costs like that.
@@oreally8605 You make a fair point! They are very "budget" friendly when it comes to the materials and how it is. But it is a cheap car! For the price, I can see other brands having a nicer interior! It is a lot of money for a Mini!
I agree that the smaller engine might still work on this car, since the convertible option makes up for lack of performance.
Yeah, it’s just a fun little convertible!

@@gary_michael_flanagan_wildlife Yes exactly, the illusion of fun or, in this sense, the actual fun noting the heavier car and smaller engine.
I'll have an plan to afford this one day bro.

Technically it's the Union Flag, it's only the Union Jack when flown at sea
The seatbelts should match the colour of the leather
Yeah could be cool. Might be optional or can do it aftermarket

Would this work for a heavy guy that is 6'3"? I don't have a dealership near me to check it out, but I'll drive if it's a possibility.
You’d have to drive one and see! I can’t answer that for you!

135hp and FWD is laughable
It’s not trying to be a performance car though. You can get an S model with more power if this isn’t sufficient.
Only the Volkswagen beetle is the worst rated reliability. Beautiful car, fun to drive but a hunk of crap. Good review non the less Mike..
Volkswagen is a part of Audi and they are part pretty reliable cars, but why is the mini a hunk of crap?

Bmw reliability? Thats awfull. Sorry but its not a mazda or toyota. So get ready to pay premium when it starts to show problems
BMW is 2nd in reliability right now. So I wouldn’t worry about. This is an inexpensive car so maintenance shouldn’t cost much.
Mini has a bad rep but I hear after 2017 the models are pretty reliable
