    I am currently in my MBA. I agree that the curriculum is a bit lagging from industry trend, but its never going to die. MBA gives you holistic view of a business, make you look from a different perspective, which will take a large amount of time if you take a traditional approach of climbing corporate ladder.

    • @AbdurRahman-ne4uo
      @AbdurRahman-ne4uo Год назад +2

      I partially agree that MBA gives a holistic view of the business. But at the same time, it gives you a certain type of limitation which cannot be avoided. For instance, these universities have alumni where a huge amount of people are trying to complete this degree so that they can get a good job in a big company.

    You probably wanted to do an MBA yourself but never ended up doing it. That's why I repeatedly see you dissing higher education in your podcasts. MBA could be over rated but it's not dead for sure. If you compare the success rate of an MBA degree with that of successful startups in this country, you will get your answer. Over generalizations are not required.

    It is naive to base your decision of doing an MBA just on the basis of the first salary you are likely to get.
    Salary growth and career trajectory should be important considerations.
    But more importantly it is the skill set that MBA provides that should become your consideration. Afterall, a career is not just the first job, the first salary or the first company.. it is lifelong.
    Do an MBA because you like the field of business management and wish to acquire that skill set and not because someone has got (or not got) a certain package.
    ...and don't worry, just because you say something provocative, MBA is not going to die!

      You are thinking this because this is happening in India. In India we see only degree but now it is not so. If you are not good at programming then no one will even ask. So wake up from the dream that if you get a good college, then the job will be good. I talked about programming because I am a student of computer science.fact is only skill is matter thats it......................

    • @UnsoloTraveler
      @UnsoloTraveler 2 года назад +7

      @@FPgenshin Again an Ill informed notion. Bro, it's partially true that skill in India has more value than before. However, in the world of cut throat competition you need a differentiation, and that differentiation is your degree.
      And I am saying this from my and my batchmates' experience. I have been a programmer before MBA and now post MBA I work in a great role in a fortune 100 company. The degree is still more valuable than skill. Unless and until you have demonstrated your skillset in building a product or a company. Then it's a different ball game for a programmer.

    MBA prof are only teachers for the rest of their lives is a biggest misunderstanding.... Good reputed and tier 1 colleges make sure that professors have minimum 15 yrs of industry experience when it comes to foundational important course ... I am from one such institute .... MBA courses have changed alot ... institutes make sure to provide on ground and top trending exposure to their students .... What he is talking about is definitely 10 to 15 Years old story .... Tier 1 & 2 institues always make changes in their teaching technique and also the subjects every once or twice in 2 years ... These institutes have great networking when it comes to guest lecturers and associate prof who are not full time retired prof but they are industry active and veteran prof who teaches students and give reality exposure ... 2 years MBA is not book worm task but its filled activities projects and internships along with essential subject studies ... These projects, events and activities are mind tickling, live projects and internships are in the organization with dept heads and senior managers and all these starts right from first year ... I passed out MBA in 2016 and since then when i speak to my mentors and juniors i see lot of changes in subjects ... hardly there are same subjects and technique .... Get admission in good MBA colleges or just don't. .. Neither all MBA colleges are updated and put all efforts along with best network nor all MBBS students earn fat paychecks eventually

    I feel it's very simplistic to say MBAs are dead. As the times are changing so are the curriculums in Top B-schools too. Plus the institute which Pratham talks about is not AICTE approved. Definitely not everyone can become an entrepreneur. So yes surely there needs to be an upgrade of MBA institutes in terms of curriculum and the skills imparted to suit the current times.

    I am a fan of your podcasts, but I just don’t agree with you on “MBA is dead”. It’s been around for years and you can’t just discount it. Besides, when you tailor it to your career goals, it’s a big career booster and provides job security if you do it from a good place. Coming to entrepreneurs, the success rate of people who manage to build unicorns/big companies is very low. So an average Indian who doesn’t want to take risks will obviously choose an MBA from a good Bschool if he’s intellectually good enough to get in. MBA doesn’t just provide you business knowledge, but a strong alumni network that’s unparalleled. Guess what saw a global steep rise in appplications during the pandemic due to economic uncertainty?….MBA!! (I’m not biased since I’m not an MBA)

    Making education experiential was spot on and MBBS analogy was again spot on, one more field which is experiential in nature is CODING, PROGRAMMING. I am telling you from my experience that coding will open up your mind in so many ways. It will change the way you think and question.
    I am not inferring that everyone should become programmers but experience this thing once before 30 atleast.
    I myself have shifted from being a developer to digital marketing manager to now being a product manager and I can surely say that yes it gives you an edge in every field.
    There are various other elements as well in terms of success which was talking to different people of other domains and cracking what they do, talking to different business, failing fast .

    I completely disagree with what Pratham told about American education. I study master's in computer science from America. The American education system is so research-oriented, professors make us think deep to the roots. This is why all the innovations and research happen in America, whereas, in India, it's just a business, we pay and get the degree certificate we honestly learn nothing. If India redesign the education infrastructure I am sure a lot of innovations will take place

    It's funny how we have so many personalities and types of people in the world but yet only have a handful of options that they can study or pursue in education. Education needs to be personalized and curated.
    Hoping that the future of education has something more to offer because right now we are just following a cookie-cutter method and it really doesn't work.

    He exposed himself and his lack of knowledge about the B Schools when he said IIMs and leading institutes are only teaching theory. It is utter stupidity, because he may know very little, makers believe he know a lot, and the majority of the audience, that mostly consist of millennials, believe he knows everything because he is doing the thing they like the most - bashing anything that is in India without enough information. It is true, that the education programmes like MBA need to be flexible to address the future needs but simply comparing two different programmes like MBBS with MBA is senseless. If anyone who is a B School aspirant, watching this video, please read about the teaching pedagogy of IIMs with some patience. All this guy said about participative learning, using blended learning modules, and simulation, it happens regularly there and has been happening before this guy was even born. Seriously, this video is misleading because of the agenda-driven content of the speaker.

    When you start achieving things in life, people start listening to you. It doesn't matter how messed up your life was! After overcoming all those hurdles when you become successful people start admiring you. Mba is all about knowing yourself in a better way & it makes you more aware of your surroundings. People motivate you to do different things. But the question is! Do you really want to do that thing? Will that thing make you and your life happy?. Our lives are surrounded by people and 90% of decisions in our life which we make are mostly dependent on our surroundings. If we know how to control our emotions and take independent decisions in life, our life will be happy.
    Ranveer I love your work and the way you are filling the information gap is commendable.

    Great thumbnail! You are 100% correct!! An MBA implies wanting a job in middle management or executive administration in someone else’s company. It’s 2022. Those days are over. Those jobs are dead and dying. MBA is not a skill, it’s a status symbol that no one cares about anymore. You would be more valuable after a 6 week coding or app building course. We’re not paying for opinions or attendees at the weekly meetings anymore. Hard skills only going forward. Save your money and learn something you can do instead of hoping to become some rich man’s glorified employee. That’s over with
