no one cares about this shit anymore. Gotta swallow facts, everyone who made this master piece of a game left the company. Its legacy is continued by schmucks that have 0 idea what they are doing.
I think it works for the early gears games but at the same time gears could of become repetitive if it kept the same style what makes new gears interesting is humanity really tried to start up again and we're seeing it tear down again. It's nice to see the beauty in the world as it crumbles
This is literally one of things I really miss the most. It was the fact that the first Gears if War actually made you feel like you're not safe anywhere, and that danger is always in every corner you turn into. The atmosphere, the soundtracks, everything. Just felt like an impending doom is about to befall on humanity once and for all.
@@Flour-4 bro, I just fucking asked the man for forgiveness for all the horseshit we gave him back then tbh. The GoW2 Blindfire shotgun was horrendous at launch, but otherwise ugh… that and GoW1 were great. G1 obviously the masterpiece.

Everything points do a darker climate in the game, you have the COG exposed for the creation of the Locust, you have Kait chasing her "mother", the death of JD (or Del), etc. I got a feeling that it will be the darkest game of this new trilogy.
@@fitzwad I played this game from 2006 to 2018 on and off, but the past few years have been hard on it. I would love to dust off my Xbox 360 and give it a run.
A lot of good examples of horror in video games are in non-horror games. Ravenholm from HL2. Some levels from Thief 3 (haven't played the first two) i.e. the Orphanage. Max Payne... oh dear. Spec Ops The Line... ... Halo CE when you go underground. While some games are not labeled as part of the horror genre they can do a mighty good job regardless. I haven't played GoW in over a decade but it had lots of good horror elements under the action military layer.
Honestly I can’t find myself agreeing for one reason. Lemme bring Amnesia: The Bunker up as a comparison: -Amnesia: Going into a horrific, nightmarish scenario with nothing but a dingy, loud and unwieldy revolver that you need to work your ass off just to get one bullet for. Gears: Going into a horrific, nightmarish scenario with nigh-bulletproof body armor and a rifle with up to 600 rounds AND a chainsaw bayonet built into it. Imo, it’s that level of defenselessness that separates an ACTUAL horror game from a shooter game with potent horror elements.
I don't think a multiplayer game has ever had as much impact on me as the original GoW. I still remember my brother going with my mom to Blockbuster, and I told him to rent anything besides Gears. It had just came out and I saw some gameplay and didn't like the look of it. Well the little brat got Gears anyways and needless to say, we both got hooked right away. He eventually moved on to the next game, but I stuck with Gears. The multiplayer just hooked me in a way I can't explain. I'm in my late 20's now, and don't even okay multiplayer games anymore. Just single player open worlds mostly. I'll never forget Cliffy B, and Gears. The sequel and third one was pretty good, but the original was legendary.
The thing I loved about GoW 1 was that aspects of it felt like a horror rather than a shooter game. The locust were portrayed as horrifically violent boogeymen, literally something out of a nightmare, and the dark, gloomy gothic atmosphere reflected this.
They need to make a scary/ darker themes gears of war game! Still action packed and heroic but with stuff that’ll make your heart ache and your gut wrench
I could honestly cry listing to this. I was obsessed with multiplayer on this back in the day to the point where I can remember all the maps off by heart ❤
Gears 1 was dark and nightmarish, just like Diablo1, and like D1, it lost slowly that evil touch that make it stand amongst its succesors by far. At least 4 me.
As Amazing and Great Gears 2 and 3 were Gears 1 Definitely had a much Darker tone personally my fav was Gears 2 But Gears 1 was definitely very dark you can tell when you play through the campaign
Gears 1 was a glimpse into a dark and terrifying apocalyptic future, it had alot of hopelessness and showed how damned humanity was by allowing criminals to be conscribed into what is the war for humanities survival. Imagine our world being subject to this hell, where you have no choice but to kill these abominations from deep beneath the earth and nowhere is safe. The very ground gives way to horrors you were never meant to face. The surface world heavily destroyed from satellite weaponry which can strike anywhere at anytime they're overhead. Lightmass nuclear strikes. Berserkers, Kryll, Brumaks, Wretches, Therons, Seeders, Reavers, Drones. Corpsers...
