The line “it’s my fault cause I put icing on top now the boys want a taste of the strawberry shortcake” is talking about if a women is getting harssed some men blame women for getting harssed and say "don't wear revealing clothing then" or something similar to that.

"thats my bad, thats my bad. no one taught them not to grab" one of my fav lines ever. like society is so focused on teaching women how to hide themselves in order to not get harrased by men but they completely ignore the real problem and never bother teaching men how to keep it in their pants.

This song goes to girls being taught "no one will love you if you're unattractive" from her song Mrs. Potato Head, and also calling out rape society, victimization, sexual harassment like from her song Tag, you're it.

To me this is one of the catchiest Melanie songs lol. The chorus gets in my head and doesn’t leave for weeks LOL

The reason she says “him” is because it’s based around sexual assault on women by men, the main part of “put icing on top” is referencing people blaming women for sexual assault because they dressed a certain way.

Also with reference to beauty standards set up society portraying that women have to be clean shaven, skinny (looking like barbie) Boys acting like they ain’t seen skin before -> because a woman isn’t thin and a small waist, boys are acting like they haven’t seen extra skin on a body

@@rlm198 Also the fact some men get rilled up when they see skin. Like "its too distracting" and shit, like what part of my skin is distracting to you? Yall walk around shirtless and in shorts and tell me i am indeacent for walking around in a tang top and shorts.

And not fitting the standards having to take extreme measures to fit in and showing too much skin apparently it's our fault when boys just need to learn to control their self.

I would also add that a lack of parental guidance in the right direction, including blatant enabling, would also be an issue along with what's shown in media that rhymes with 'corn'. The song is inherently saying that society enables and allows this, not overall that the boys are the issue. I will say you thought very deeply and compassionately about the whole song though and I appreciate that.

I completely agree with what you said about "corn" and kylie jenner being the two major issues for the youth in the society. Not just youth, but everybody. There are some countries in the world that have banned "corn" and they have one of the least rape stats in the world. Wonder why..

Fantastic analysis but I feel I should say-porn and Kylie are symptoms and catalysts of this issue, not the cause. Excited to watch more from you!

The reason the boys resemble sharks(in the MV) is because sharks are attracted to blood so it is representing how boys and people criticize people/women when they are on their period

Even though I'm a feminist, I don't think it's fair to blame it all on men. I mean, some guys might be in to under aged kids maybe because they might have been sexually harassed as kids themselves before. So maybe we should cut some slack for the ones that are trying their best not to act on their desires. Also, their are some female rapists and sexual molesters too, let's not forget.
