Pakistan is stupid not learning from 1971 Bangladesh experience. Running ethnically diverse country by ignoring certain sections of the country will lead to seceding of that area which cannot be held connected by use of force. The people of Baluchistan are not without remedies if pakistan state steam rollers them. Baluchistan have sympathizers in several countries who give them a sympathetic hearing and few will even leverage it to put pressure on pakistan State. Bottomline pakistan state should apply wisdom of prophet Muhammad of love and compassion towards development of BHAluch people, redressal of their grievances, giving reservation in public institutions for BHAluch people for next 50 years. Finally Nelson Mandela doctrine of reconciliation with people of Baluchistan so as to win their minds and hearts. The territory is so vast and arid , people are still living in middle ages. They are in the war zone border area of pakistan burdened with daily international security issues.
We must understand that the maintenance of law and order and the protection of citizens is primarily the responsibility of the provincial administration and not the military. The latter can be called for help if and when needed. The ugly truth is that there has been a massive failure on the part of the provincial administration in Baluchistan and portents are, it could also happen in PK sooner than later. Secondly, you never negotiate from a position of weakness. To suggest otherwise, as some media stalwarts are doing, is foolish. Put the provincial house in order and establish the govt. writ firmly first before even thinking of anything else. Playing politics with an administrative lapse is not the way to go. It will only lead to opening a Pandora's box for solving all kinds of grievances all over the country.
