Is there any benefit to getting a battery with more cca then what factory recommends ? My thought was as the battery gets older and cca goes down if you bought a higher cca battery you’d theoretically get more battery life but is that even correct ?
It starts the car quicker, so it's easier on your starter. These do last much longer than standard lead-acid batteries because they have overdischarge protection. With lead-acid, you basically shorten the lifespan every time you let it discharge below 50%. These Antigravity lithium you can run them all the way down, use up all of that capacity until it cuts off by over-discharge protection.
If you don't have any crazy woofers and amplifiers or other power thirsty accessories, you can get their powersports ATX30-RS battery. My buddy is using one of those in his Audi S4. @@Patrick94GSR I went to their website and listened to their sales pitch. Lithium ion cells will freeze up if in anything colder than 20 above according to the manufacturer. I was ready to buy two batteries until they said that :(
I've used their ATX20-RS in my RSX in even colder weather on Big Bear Mountain, and it was perfectly fine. It would have to be exposed to subfreezing temps for a while in order to get frozen. Lihtium freezes much slower than water. Plus, there is a trick with lithium batteries :) you turn on your headlights for a minute or two before starting the car, and that will allow the battery to self warm. I didn't even have to do that.
