- Abandoned Sakura Japanese Steakhouse - Warren, OH. Closed and rotting away, this hibatchi style restaurant was rather a nice place on the inside. Good reviews with some bad ones but overall seemed like a good place for dinner. They even had a fish tank inside.

I believe that place used to be The Flamingo. It was a nice place had a guy playing piano while you ate.

Barbed wire was probably to protect the units on the building from getting the copper stripped from them. My only guess.

Go to the joanns in boardman by southern park mall, they moved it up the street but now the building is just empty
I’ve been there. I like how you hit all the places near my hometown. Also, i believe this was a Wendy’s first.
When I first saw this, I thought it was originally a Wendy’s that had been remodeled. It looks to have been closed for a while.

Building looks like a old Ponderosa was originally there.
Wasn’t a Ponderosa, that was down the street about a mile or so. It and a doughnut shop were town down to build a Walgreens.

It used to be called the mandarin house when my grandmother took me there as a kid. The solar light around the roof are still on every night. Due to the area I believe the barbed wire is so people can't get up there
Ben was an amazing owner/manager!! I used to go in weekly with my best friend in high school and got offered a serving position. The restaurant was beautiful!! He put an enormous salt water fish tank in the center of the bar that was breathtaking!!

They got caught serving in unidentified meat by the health dept. I actually ate there years ago, it was really good then. But I had shrimp...

“Fun” fact: about 10+ years ago when I went to YSU, my friend and I drove past this place (it was still open then) and talked about going there to eat some time. We never did. 😑
Its possible this place closed when another similar place near by was accused of serving NON Traditional meat on the menu.
I think every single ponderosa was at one time a japanese steakhouse and then shut down too.. lol.

There's a really good Japanese Steakhouse in Heath Ohio in a strip mall that's near the abandoned Stacey's Homestyle Buffet that has really good Hibachi Udon with Chicken. Kanji is the name of the Japanese Steakhouse, and I can tell that Kayla would love to eat there

I live 10 minutes from here and have always wanted to get in here!! Ate there one time and food was lousy!! Go a mile up the road to Yamato for awesome hibachi food!!

We Had a Sukera restaurant here Rhode Island out of Bussiness was abandoned for awhile now a restaurant again steady

I just read some reviews on this place and the last was 2015. Alot of people were saying when they switched owners it went downhill really fast.
The restaurant inside was run down when I ate there in 2010/2011 ish. The food was decent but it looked like they were struggling with renovations. Because it was pretty significantly remodeled between becoming Sakura and it’s previous incarnations as a Chinese buffet and an Asian bistro. (Which I suspect was the same buffet rebadged after the health department shut them down once).

Wally I was just thinking that one possible reason that barbed wire might be on the roof could be to deter Scrappers from messing with the 8C units up there because that would be a good bit of aluminum and copper with the condensing coils that's probably why that's up there Seth anybody tried to climb up the wall to get up there to scrap that get of course cut
I had a scoot around downtown Warren on Streetview - there doesn't seem to be a lot going on. Was there a protracted downturn in the local economy maybe?
Warren crashed largely when the steel mills started leaving in the late 1980s.
