It's utterly ridiculous that the MOD says the police can't help with crowd control. I thought they were responsile for public safety as well as anti- terrorism. They might change their minds when some stilly tourist gets injured because they don't have the sense to get out of the way of a horse having a meltdown. Can you imagine what it will be like in summer with peak tourist crowds, pure bedlam.

It is the Spanish School's responsibility to insure their teachers, chaperons and students know the laws of the country they are visiting. If they don't want to risk being filmed in public they shouldn't go where there are a number of people filming like Horse Guards. The sad truth is if she'd not acted like her students or allowed them to act like they didn't have sense to go the road, this wouldn't not have happened. These teachers seem to want to be the students best friend rather than actually being their guardian and teaching them right from wrong whilst out in public.
If you go on a visit to another country, you shouldn't be concerned if you behave respectfully. The Spanish teacher clearly as she was 'joining in' with the hilarity is possibly realising that the parents of the kids in her charge might realise that she is not as good at her job if they end up on film. If they had all been respectful, I don't know why saying, 'this is an official military establishment, so please remember that you represent our country and school, so please be on your best behaviour' would have been so hard for her to say. Its a shame as it could have been a satisfying visit for all and now they will remember it for negative, could have been avoided reasons.

In other words, she had no right to object to your filming the disrespectful kids. She was whining about being filmed and didn't know the laws governing photographing or video taping others in England. The same rules apply here in the States and there are those who think you have no right to film them without their permission still. You are doing well in video taping and giving a running commentary as to what is going on. I agree with you on a lot of things. Keep up the good work.
I just looked it up and public photography is allowed in Spain but public photos of children are not allowed without parental permission. That is why she is upset. But that is not how it works in other countries. Learn the laws before you have a meltdown and respect the country you are in

Time and again we see teachers arriving at Horse Guards with unwieldy groups and little to no awareness of simple decorum. Pity, but both the old trooper and I were polite and friendly - up to a point.
Most likely that teacher will face a good talking to at home when her school Admin find out what happened. Plus the students' parents will be upset that their children were caught on camera being disrespectful to the authority in another country. At least I hope that would be the case. Most likely that school won't be sending any more kids to the Horse Guards again where *gasp* someone could film their kids legally. And worse...film them being brats.

The EU doesn't have any laws banning photography of touring school parties, and as far as I can see, Spain doesn't either. EU law and English law seems to be the same as far as photography is concerned.

There is cctv all over the courtyard , tunnel and in the boxes , monitored in the Guards room .
The Law is in public spaces. He isnt filming in the public street he is inside the private grounds open to the public.

I totally blame their behavior on the teacher. Visiting horse guards should be an educational experience for students. She should have done research to teach her students. Shame on her for not setting an example.

This Spanish teacher gets angry when someone says something she doesn't like and makes a big fuss about being the victim. She thinks she's perfect. She doesn't listen to other people's advice. She should study and think more about what respect is. She acts like a lady, but she's a child with no common sense.
The teacher objects to her group being filmed but doesn't think to correct the group when they behave with disrespect to serving soldiers. I think she has her priorities all wrong.

Ignorant children, with an equally ignorant teacher. And then the wonderful Spanish tour guide, who didn't stop talking, but (& my Spanish is very basic), did tell his tourists that the Troopers were working Soldiers. Great video again today.

Good day, John. You were right in telling the Spanish teacher that she was in public and had no expectation of privacy. In other words, she had no right to object to your filming the disrespectful kids. She was whining about being filmed and didn't know the laws governing photographing or video taping others in England. The same rules apply here in the States and there are those who think you have no right to film them without their permission still. You are doing well in video taping and giving a running commentary as to what is going on. I agree with you on a lot of things. Keep up the good work.
I just looked it up and public photography is allowed in Spain but public photos of children are not allowed without parental permission. That is why she is upset. But that is not how it works in other countries. Learn the laws before you have a meltdown and respect the country you are in

Time and again we see teachers arriving at Horse Guards with unwieldy groups and little to no awareness of simple decorum. Pity, but both the old trooper and I were polite and friendly - up to a point.

Most likely that teacher will face a good talking to at home when her school Admin find out what happened. Plus the students' parents will be upset that their children were caught on camera being disrespectful to the authority in another country. At least I hope that would be the case. Most likely that school won't be sending any more kids to the Horse Guards again where *gasp* someone could film their kids legally. And worse...film them being brats.

The EU doesn't have any laws banning photography of touring school parties, and as far as I can see, Spain doesn't either. EU law and English law seems to be the same as far as photography is concerned.
