@@TheCod3r Exactly. And the Teflon coating...well, that does nothing. Now, if I could find a way to keep solder balls from having static charges that make them jump all over the goddamn place.
Man. I have a V1 switch with a bad sd card connector on the motherboard. It's been modded and thought it was going to sit on my shelf forever. I got a few connectors for it, but didn't want to attept repair without knowing the right way to do it. I can't tell you how much watching you video is going to help. Will attempt to do it this week and hopefully get this back up and running!
Watching the solder balls move jnto place on that attachment was really awesome to watch! Great stuff my friend. Your videos are informative and just a pleasure to watch. Take care.
Probably a stupid question, but when you replaced the solder on the chip with leaded the solder pads looked OK, as in nice and seperate solder on each pad. Could you get away with just putting chip on without using balls?
Not really a stupid question 😁 you can on some chips, like really small ones such as the MAX17050 fuel guage because the pads are easier to make contact with but with bigger chips like the MAX IC while it's technically possible you'd still need to get the pads the exact size. There's a guy on youtube (I forget his name lol) who can do it on any chip with just a soldering iron which is pretty cool
Nice job mate....so enjoy your videos please keep them coming and here to help get your videos out to everyone....lol fixing someone else's fix lol .....nice job
Reballing must be incredibly nerve wracking. I know how to do it (even though I don't have the tools or workplace necessary), but I don't think I could ever do it. I don't have the kind of patience necessary. Side note: wow that Switch is filthy. I always keep mine clean (granted I don't use the touch screen much, and I keep it docked most of the time, but still).
I took it apart and found it had a dust bunny in the socket so jammed jellied tight I no there the pole to the connector side could not get 9n the hole all the way and didn't allow fill contact with the pins shined a light in there an can see the jammed dust 9n the commector
Hey Thecod3r. Quick question: how does the video chip in the Nintendo switch Short circuit or breaks as easily? I seen so many switch repairs on your RUclips channel and others and it seems to be common. Is there a way to prevent the video chip to burn out besides using Nintendo licensed ac adapter and Nintendo licensed dock
Great Job. Do you know by chance the microswitch used in the Xbox one s for turning it on and off? I accidentally ripped it off the last time I wanted to refresh the thermal paste.
Nice repair, I’ve seen a few switches being sold because their sd card slots don’t work and on the surface it seems like they just need a new sd card slot but in reality they could need the chip replaced which isn’t so easy lol. Btw I tried to sub on twitch using my prime but it looks like I must have used it already on someone else, can’t remember who I don’t use twitch.
Yeah some can be easy, others are tricky to figure out but generally if the connector is OK and the module is OK the chip is bad. Thanks for trying to sub on twitch, not a major issue though mate, I appreciate the gesture:)
@@TheCod3r I’ll remember that but to be honest now I’ve got a switch Im not a huge fan so I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore to refurbish. Im more into proper consoles fixing and modding them. No worries mate if I can figure out twitch you’ll see my sub 😃
havent watched yet but reading the headline, usually just replacing the sd card mod fixes the issue, very unlikely it is anything worse than that as its hard to bridge those pins unless they had it open and was unplugging it and replugging it in whilst on , looking forward to see whats up with it as i watch :D
hey bud l got a good deal on 3 Xbox 360's all have the RROD but if l can not get them working l can use for practice i.e. taking HDMI connectors off chips and all the other goo stuff all for £25

Haha nice you legend
u sob! lol

Watching that attachment flow the solder balls was cool as hell.
Indeed, that thing really is amazing
oh man that reballing was soothing to watch
I've been using a small (3") frying pan to reball for quite some time. Works a peach. Hold the pan, hot air from underneath...flow flow bro.
I'd assume it has pretty sweet thermal conductivity since it would be made of aluminium 😁

That's awesome man. Glad this video will help you out. The connectors are fairly easy to replace if you heat up from underneath 😁
loved the video and its refreshing to see something that is not a usb c port, m92, bq or video chip, specially m92 and usb c port are too common
Cheers mate, I agree it's nice to get something different. I'm working on another different one today too :)

Very nice fix and video again, oh and the lighting on the scopeview is much better m8. Keep up these great repairs 👍
Thanks mate much appreciated
Nice! Love that little brass attachment thingy!
It's awesome mate, worth every penny 😁
Hi... I'm from Indonesia
I always watch your videos and I really like them.... I really want to be like you
Bro, hand reball is crazy haha I always use atleast an iPhone stencil and solder paste.
Haha yep I must be out of my mind 😅
Good call on that brass tool, I bought one of each as I do enjoy useful tools :D
Yeah they're really really good mate. Can't go wrong with them for smaller chips. I did check they do up to a ps4 sourhbridge too 😃
Awesome vid phill an good explanation on the max ic
Cheers bud 👍
Thank you Chad, can i call you Chad ?
I like your competence.
Haha call me anything you want, just don't call me late for supper 😝
Amazing work 💯👍🏾
The bubbling flux on the IC you reballed made it look like an absolute DISASTER. Then when it boiled away perfection.
Once again phil ..great fix and great video
Thanks buddy
great job nicely done 👊
Btw, you didn't add the link to that solder iron attachment you used :D
Yeah it's there mate just refresh the video 😁
@@TheCod3r Nice :D
This sd card slot was made to give trouble. In the new Switch Oled they changed that and it got much better.
Yeah it definitely gets better in the new model (and in the switch lite too)
great video master

Yeah mate my other one died lol
