Really enjoyed this video, that's exactly how I used to repair the backlights on the 3ds, I don't see many broken switch LCDs due to the plastic touch screen, so it makes the blacklight a commodity. keep up the good.work
Thanks bud, yeah water damage can be one of the easiest things to fix. Some problems are hiding away and very difficult to find, but water damage stands there basically pointing and laughing in your face. It's just staring you plain in the face with all of its' corrosion glory 😁
Mate I was so sadden about the non subscribed slug so I unsubscribed and subscribed again to help demonstrate 🤣 keep up the good videos us yanks love them
Great work, really, it's humbling to see devices in such a state getting fixed. With that said I'm wondering, as the customer, given how much work and pieces to replace to get to this point, is this financially viable to get it repaired instead of buying let's say, a second hand one and selling this for parts. I mean, I'm all for repairing broken stuff, I'm just wondering how much sense it makes from the customer standpoint. Maybe your fees are reasonable enough that it makes it easier as a choice though. I don't know where I'm going with this haha, good work again, thanks for the video
Be careful using flammable IPA in an ultrasonic cleaner, static discharge or the ultrasonic transducer failing can ignite it. One suggestion would be to put the part and IPA in a sealed plastic bag then drop that into water inside the ultrasonic tank.
Hey I’ve just gone ahead and subbed to your buddy I feel like I’ll find the content as entertaining as yours even tho I know how to do any electrical work👍🏻
Loved watching, no bullshit, straight to the point. One thing I will say is these consoles are aimed at children, why on earth don’t they make them water resistant.
Loved the vid, really enjoy repairs that come back from the death! Surprised you use isopropyl in your ultrasonic as heard a lot of negatives, but will give it a go myself now I see it works well. Thanks
Cheers mate. IPA in an ultrasonic can be dangerous depending on the machine used. It does have a chance of combustion because of how hot the cleaner gets so you do have to be really really careful
Damnit Phil I am and have been subbed, move the hell on, lol. Plus 360p, did you piss your computer off? Thanks for the video. Always great work. We are used to noises, lol, I would rather hear kids playing than the wedding any day, lol
Haha 😂 nah sorry mate, it was still processing and I accidently pressed public instead of unlisted so the HD version will come (4k actually) but just takes a bit of time lol
@@TheCod3r i really love the fact that you also don't hide mistakes when they are made its so easy to do that of course. Makes me think back to the time i broke off the legs from a ps2 chip once😅 haven't been soldering since but still love watching people do it.
Hi mate. Really loved the video, very informative. With that backlight ribbon, just wondered if it was possible to splice a good cable onto a bad one, instead of replacing the while backlight ? Is it a time management thing ?
That is definitely possible yeah, especially if like me you hate screen removals. It's just for a customer I'd rather replace the entire back-light or the entire screen if possible :)
Question: I have a water damaged switch I have 90% fixed. Everything works except the lcd won't come on. I swapped in a known good motherboard and confirmed the lcd itself is fine, so it has to be something on the board, but I can't find any damage on board (I have pics with a cheap scope fwiw). I'm lost.
Thanks for stating the temp for the screen removal, I was a little concerned about using my hot air station, so much so I decided to use my 3D printer heated bed to warm the screen up for removal lol. It did the job so multipurpose printer ;)
No problem buddy, glad to help. To be honest anything will do as long as it doesn't get too hot. I used to use an oven until I popped a battery because I forgot it was in there lol
@@TheCod3r that’s one reason why I don’t like having heat near batteries lol. But I don’t think my mother would be happy about me using her oven for console repairs hahah
Hey, I have been working on this switch for a while now, I have replaced the p13 the bq and the m92 and a filter a couple different times now trying to get it fixed but I can't get it passed a 0.41 charge, am I looking and trying the wrong areas?
Hey bud, sorry for not replying. Did you check the switch on a computer to see if the device is in RCM mode? If not, you're definitely looking in the correct area. The issue could be related to one of the MAX chips, such as the big max on the P13 side of the board or the small fuel guage located behind the battery connector.
@@TheCod3r yeah I believe it has to do with the software that is on it because it's one of the unpatched switch's, I am gonna try to give it a manual update in hopes that works. I appreciate you getting back to me, your insight is always helpful! I asked 2 other people and you're the only one that ever replies. Thank you
Hey Coder, I enjoy your videos and think you're creating some great videos! I actually wanted your advice on something, I bought a Nintendo switch which I am in the process of fixing, I was thinking it might ve worth me also changing the shell because it is in pretty bad nic, do you think it is difficult to do that? I haven't really seen you or any other repairtubers replace a fully shell, is that because it is difficult?
Thanks mate It's not difficult, tronicsfix does one on a Nintendo switch that he has being released either today or tomorrow. The reason I don't do them is becsuse I only film what I'm fixing for my customers so unless they requested a case swap I wouldn't have a reason to do it usually
@@TheCod3r thanks for the advice man. Gives me the confidence to buy the replacement shell and watch tronicfix's video whilst I wait for it to be delivered.
@@TheCod3r hey Cod3r, It looks like my plan to fix a switch went a little south...basically I was trying to do a reflow on the cpu to fix a blue screen of death, I know this would work because the switch was working normally when pushing against the cpu. Only problem is I must've had the heat gun too hot because the components on the other side have moved. I've been putting them back in place but it looks like some have dropped off and I can't find them...do you know any documentation of what components are on the motherboard so I can try to find replacements?
@@TheCod3r Hey Cod3r, Do you have a donor board for a Nintendo switch that I can buy off you? Don't need any of the chips just need the components around the max77620 chip. I'd appreciate if you have anything to offer.

@@TheCod3r alright thanks, and btw I did email you twice about the two caps on the Nintendo around a week or two ago. And I now also need a reball. And the two caps
A lot of people use distilled or deionised water in ultrasonic cleaners if you want a cheaper cleaning liquid, you’d still need a little ipa after though to displace the water though. Also, how do you feel about the shout outs from Louis Rossmann recently?! Edit: Oh, and absolutely outstanding job getting this running again!
