Oh Rumple. He finally found a woman that truly loves him and looks past all his faults. And he tricks her yet again and breaks his promise again. Not away to start their future.
When Gaston asked for Belle's hand, she waited around a full minute before accepting. With Rumple, she doesn't hesitate for more than a second. No matter how screwed up the show has been getting, that at least makes me still love them together.
the feels at the look of rumple's face in the end. you can tell he feels not only joy at belle's answer but also guilt for what he is about to do. i feel sorry for rumple, disappointed in him, and so happy for him too for the proposal. overload on the feels :)
Oh, with any luck they'll get back together. Apparently the producers never intend to entirely let this relationship go. But yeah, Rumple, from what I've heard about this, can be quite frustrating. He needs to be worthy of Belle's trust.
Aw.... I just realized now it plays a soft version of "Rumpelstiltskin in Love" in the background during this scene. So sweet. Yet they don't wait more than like two seconds to ruin it for all of us. Has anyone ever noticed how, before all this, Rumple never once outright lied to Belle? Interesting, of course, how he did not outright promise not to kill Zelena, and I don't blame him for wanting to, but faking it with the dagger proposal was a bad move. Back in season 2 there were a few times he twisted his words and got himself into trouble with her, but he never truly lied and he also seemed to take Charming's advice that honesty was the best policy. Rumple and Belle don't get much uninterrupted time together later in season 2 or in season 3, but by season 3 it seems almost like they have this sort of unwavering faith in one another that's truly beautiful. When Rumple needs to get Pandora's Box to stop Pan, he trusts Belle to know just what to do, and she trusts him to come back to her. It seemed that their relationship had reached its peak. But now, after everything, he's lying and will continue to do so in season 4 until it comes back to bite him. Like, seriously, what the heck happened? I know you went through a lot of crap, Rumple, but come on...
Supreme Overlorde what happened is that the writers and/or showrunners were lazy and decided to make “drama” out of breaking couples up instead of coming up with a good story. His motivations don’t make sense because it’s bad writing. I would rather they had ended the show after 3 seasons than do what they did to Rumplestiltskin.
@@marielavalon Exactly. If Neal had lived, married Emma, repaired his relationship with Rumple, been the best man at him and Belle’s wedding, broken the cycle of abandonment by raising Henry with Emma, and the series had ended there, it would’ve been perfect.
Raise your hand if you SCREAMED and WATCHED this scene multiple times. I know I did, I still am LOL. Now come on all you Oncers when is the last time we have ever seen Rumple leave a person who has crossed him alive. And I think belle had the real one at first, but he switched them. I mean how many times have we seen objects being traded through hands on this show, if you know what your doing no one will see you do it.
A reply to all comments regarding Rumple's treatment of Belle, especially the dishonesty following this proposal scene.. When I watched this scene for the first time I just about burst. After all that had happened - them falling in love, him breaking after losing her for so long, them reuniting and every happiness and heartache that followed - I had wished for this proposal with my entire heart. And then Rumple lied, again. Seeing that betrayal had sucked the beauty out of the proposal for me almost entirely. It all felt cheap, abused.. ugly. My heart had soared with their love and happiness, only to drop deep into black despair and disappointment. And it happened again, many times. More lies and deceit and heartbreak was to follow. At some moments my hope for Rumple would just about die. There were some disappointments in Belle as well. And now for what I really came to say: Rumple and Belle share a love so true and so encompassing that it had kept them bound even when their hearts broke apart. He was consumed with darkness for centuries, was unloved and loving no one for so long, that her love had to keep pulling him back from the abyss even when his soul yearned for it. He was selfish and cruel and utterly a monster. He was lost. YES he did horrible things to her and NO he did not deserve her continued devotion, but that is exactly what love is! - undeserving and often unrequited and flawed. A chipped cup. Fire and heartache and loss had refined their love into an imperfect masterpiece - an oil painting, not a photograph, beautiful in it's imperfection, each brushstroke coming together to form one love, one life. Their mistakes are so real and yet their love is magic - the most powerful magic of all. True love is not a fairy tale - true love is holding on to each other when you have every reason to let go, but you know you will die if you do. True love is Rumpelstiltskin and Belle.
wow... that really touched me!!! Thank you for this beautiful speech!!! And your choose of words, how you put them, played with them - amazing!!! You should write a book;) Or are you by any chance a writer?
True love is what Belle and Rumple in the early seasons of 1-3 had. They did become undeniably toxic though after 4 on ward and that is on the writers ruining a beautiful and healthy relationship. They slapped a band aid on it with Season 7 but it felt false after all they put them through for needless drama.
I miss back in the day where they lived in his castle because I can not STAND what they did with them! He LIED to her! Like she would ever leave him! And then the writers just rushed over the wedding, this is like the number one reason people love this show their wedding deserved more than what it got.
Arrgh, Rumple, what are you doing?! Lying like that to Belle and tricking her...that's the worst thing he would do. >.< C'mon writers, you already killed Bae, at least let Rumple be happy with Belle.
I can't even. I'm watching this so many times over I just omg the feels! I've waited for the moment my whole ouat life 😍 thank you Adam and Eddy 😭 so many feels omg I can't even function
Squealing like a four-year-old girl, running around the room like a chicken with my head cut off, and cannot stop freaking out! Rumple and Belle together is like icing on my cake. I hope they stay together, so once upon a time writers do not break them up!! Can't wait to see the wedding!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I thought Rumple would turn a bit more good, kinda like Regina. That is until the ending of the episode. I just found it down right dirty that he not only stole back his dagger, but made it seem like he was giving it to Belle.
What I don't understand is why Rumple would give the dagger to Belle, if he knew that he would struggle without it. I know that it is probably supposed to represent him trusting her and it's a show of goodwill. However, it's his dagger and it can do some stuff but mostly is just used to control him. It would have been better if he had just accepted it from Belle instead of lying to her once more.
Rumple made a last promise to Bae--how could he live with himself if he did not honor that last deal? He feels like such a failure with Bae, this was his last chance. Belle should not have asked him to leave Zelena alone--she deserved to die for what she put everyone through. Can you tell I am solidly team Rumple?
If Rumple had gone through with his revenge on Zelena (which he did anyway), that would mean it's alright to kill the villains who've killed the ones you love. And if that were true, Hook would've killed Rumple and Belle would've lost her true love.
iRazenrak You have a point. Belle should have found a different way to try to stop him from killing her, besides just saying he was better than that. Because he doesn't believe he is.
She didn't know that, though. She believed he gained confidence in himself when he sacrificed himself to beat Pan and save the town. Plus, he had suffered when he lied to Belle back in Season 2 and sent the Wraith after Regina. Belle left, and only came back because Rumple admitted magic was a clutch he needed to survive. From then on, from Belle's point of view, Rumple was working on himself to become braver and stronger. He even admitted it before sacrificing himself to beat Pan. But he went back to his old self after all of it.
He's got to give up his powers. That's the only way. And I don't know how he could do without getting killed so...maybe if he and Belle were kissing and she tricked him into walking into a portal somehow where they go back to FTL and his full curse takes effect? Idk. But I think that's the only way. Or maybe, his pure heart and his really REALLY dark powers, will start tearing him apart and he'll have to choose.
This scene seems a bit out of character for Belle, at least to me. She didn't ask Rumple if he was okay, or say she was sorry about Bae dying, and I would have thought that would be the first thing she'd do. That aside, LOVE this scene!
This scene is very moving, it makes me cry. I love this coupke they're very cute. Rumple ist awesome. Unfortunately, I don't think they going to get married. To my mind it will be Emma and Hook.
Some girls get a diamond ring, others get a dagger...hey who needs bling when you can get a weapon? (I'm just teasing btw, huge Rumpbelle shipper, I just thought it was funny.)
I can't help but hope that he was lying in the last scene and it was all just an elaborate plot to reveal any backup plans Zelena might have had...but the writers could just be jerks.
I wanna know exactly how many people here would willing have given up the dagger, and their freedom, if they had been in Rumple's place. Sure it's a sweet romantic gesture, but no way. Love is supposed to be about setting someone free, not entrapping them with unrealistic expectations. Both his dishonesty and her demands made this relationship so toxic. They didn't work together the way Snow and Charming did, they weren't equals the way Emma and Hook were. They were constantly on edge, never quite comfortable but trying so hard. Belle needed to accept him and Rumple needed to trust her. This relationship deserved better.😢

Yet another example of Bobby's ability to convey a wide range of emotions without saying a word, just saying it with his eyes. BRILLIANT actor!
