Except that a hotdog is kinda a bad example, human skin has a fairly high resistance (if dry) and due the the Skin Effect (resistance over surface area), which causes the resistance to rise and the breaker or fuse pops. Hotdogs have very little surface area compared to human skin, which means that electricity flows easier through it, which means a lower resistance which won’t pop the breaker or fuse

When I was in high school I used to fold up bubblegum wrappers (the ones with the foil) then I would plug them into an outlet. Would always trip the braker and the time it takes a random teacher to find a maintenance guy to reset the braker well let's just say that class would be canceled and the wrapper would burn up instantly never leaving evidence of what happened. I justified it in my mind as using science to ditch science class

Normally nothing will happen but in some cases you can have voltage on the neutral side of the outlet too ( for example a mistake in the wiring of the outlet ). People will try this and potentually get hurt.

A much better way to illustrate it:
I can plug in a 110v welder to that same outlet and melt two pieces of steel together so completely that a full size truck can't pull them apart. My welder is 240v single phase and can be used to build/repair any industrial strength parts. At work we have 3 phase 480v welders. If you accidentally or intentionally shorted out that circuit, you would be attending your own funeral in a closed casket.

3:25 the heart stopping amount of current is from about 0.1-0.2 Amps. 15 amps at 120 VAC would equate to 1.8 kilowatts and would turn you into a pile of dust.
