Being an electrician I'm actually suprised at the accuracy of most of this information
Eli Lantz he said muscle contracts when electricity flows through them. If you stick a chicken wing in an outlet would it start flapping?
@@timesfly1081 yes, but depends how u put it in the outlet
Yes my dad is a electrician who has taught me everything about electrician
Jag City Yes, if it’s fresh. If the muscle is dead, it won’t move.
Except that a hotdog is kinda a bad example, human skin has a fairly high resistance (if dry) and due the the Skin Effect (resistance over surface area), which causes the resistance to rise and the breaker or fuse pops. Hotdogs have very little surface area compared to human skin, which means that electricity flows easier through it, which means a lower resistance which won’t pop the breaker or fuse
****** Disclaimer ******
Thick rubber gloves doesn't mean they're rated for electricity. If you're working with live circuits, use the proper tools and/or gloves if the circuit can't be locked out.
And maybe not stand on the ground

NAH REALLY i bet these idiots dont even know

Well if they knew maybe they shouldn't put it all over RUclips so when people try to reenact it they don't get popped or killed.
So right
When I was in high school I used to fold up bubblegum wrappers (the ones with the foil) then I would plug them into an outlet. Would always trip the braker and the time it takes a random teacher to find a maintenance guy to reset the braker well let's just say that class would be canceled and the wrapper would burn up instantly never leaving evidence of what happened. I justified it in my mind as using science to ditch science class

Cemil it only allows many things to be connected in parallel to one plug
They’re not supposed to. The mouth, the ground lug, is supposed to be on top
@Cemil the circuit breaker has a current limit, a single appliance will not exceed this limit under normal circumstances but if you use splitters you do so to use more appliances and that can exceed the limit, added to that is that most splitters are a bit flimsy increasing the risk

Also, if you do stick a fork in he outlet, you risk severely burning your hand *and* setting your house on fire, sooooo, dont.
I thought it would have been worth mentioning here. You can even see some flame inside that outlet itself on the first couple shorts, highlighting that even the circuit breakers aren't a complete protection against harm.

Always that mix-up of current and volts. It doesn't takes 1:1,000 of a volt to contract muscles, it takes 1:1,000 of an amp. 1 Volt can't do much to your body.
aha.... tell that to the thousands of ppl who die... cuz your heart kind of dislikes higher voltages...
Look at Tesla coils. Extremely high voltage but you can stand right next to it. High current is what’s dangerous.
@@manfredschutze834 low power (amps) means the voltage never reaches the heart. You need both current and power.
@@manfredschutze834 It's the current that causes damage. For instance, a static discharge from something like a doorknob can be in excess of 20,000 volts. Voltage with little current causes very little damage.

Zelena Trešnja that outlet probably didn’t have much electricity. Go get two metal bars and touch and electric fence and tell me how it goes 😂
@Zelena Trešnja basically voltage is the power of the electricity, current is how strong electricity flows and ressistance is the traffic or components slowing the current through a circuit

I think you're making a bad example by sticking things into the neutral side of the outlet. Normally nothing will happen but in some cases you can have voltage on the neutral side of the outlet too ( for example a mistake in the wiring of the outlet ). People will try this and potentually get hurt.

@@Murica_gaming RCD is a the same as GFCI in USA.
Either that or it was a very badly wired Public School and they had some leakage on neutral or ground which caused enough current flow to trip the breaker unless it was recent and it was most likely an RCD or GFCI.
But then again we also forgot to ask whether this was in the US as it has been common practice for rcds in 240 volts countries.

Thx for the idea
The name: What Happends if you put a fork in a Outlet
What he does: puts a paper clip in an outlet
TRC Tesla he also tried a fork but it didn’t fit
When I was a small child I stuck a fork into a light socket twice and flew across the room apparently for my mom
The breaker trips and you shock yourself.
I tried this when I was 10.

Any long term effects you're experiencing?
Me breking stuff: punished
TKOR breaking stuff: Golden play button
😐
🙏🏻
What is happening to the world?
Maybe you should've recorded while doing it..you too could have a golden play button :(
They do it for science!
It's not called breaking things, it's called experiments!

@@delta61 especially since they made a rig specifically for doing this without damaging the house
0:05 look at that face.....
Nate and Calli: Don’t try this at home!
Me: Challenge accepted...

Outlet: *Exists*
TKOR: Lets put paperclips and knives into the outlet!
Outlet: *scared*
Other outlet: *scared*
3:25 the heart stopping amount of current is from about 0.1-0.2 Amps. 15 amps at 120 VAC would equate to 1.8 kilowatts and would turn you into a pile of dust.
Thank you. I was just about to say that!
But you'll never get 15A running through you at 120V. The max you'll get is around 0.24A.
you should compare a GFCI outlet and a regular outlet and compare them using the hotdogs
A gfci is a normal outlet but if an overload if current was produced it would trip. The result would be the same
TKOR: "What happens if you stick a fork in an outlet?"
Me: Grabs a fork and goes to my plug socket
In the UK we have a 'live' wire (your hot), neutral is the same but your 'ground' wire is our 'earth' wire.
neutral wire isnt white here, its either blue or black and live is either brown or red, and earth is green and yellow. but or sockets are way safer than any countries.
@@lewismo1 until you forcefully make them unsafe by sticking metal in them, also ours have a higher voltage than most
Here in North America, "live" is actually the correct terminology... but saying _hot_ sounds cooler and these two are idiots so there ya go.
And the all have a switch on them
@@lewismo1 in North America we are stuck with this cap unsafe outlet
