hey man, obviously he can explain it a lot better than me, but for me, if you're driving and you see chest, change direction. if you see a clear path to where you want to go to or you see shoulder, change direction. when defense has turned their hips, snatch back. im not that good of a midrange shooter so im still learning when i should pull up so that vid would be a blessing lmao
the basic idea is if u see chest u can either push off of him (shoulder to chest = bump stepback) and if u see his outer sections (shoulder or arms) u can go on. For pullups if he is going way to fast u can pullup and for snatch backs if he has his hips turned and crossing his feet.
@@Mark-bm3wq well the chest and shoulder queue is something u should notice before the drive in the takeoff, and the other queues should be practiced. but basically if u cant really cut off your defender when driving (get in front) he is making a big step forward, from there u can decide what move to do (i reccomend having all in ur bag just in case) but ii am not the best person to explain this either. If u want the information search up trae young workout video, i found this from a trae workout so maybe u can find it also
I want to clarify somethings here for younger hoopers (highschool or below): 1. Defense is a subjective team concept. Play it how your coach (aka the guy who decides if you play or not) wants you to play it, even if it goes against what's in this tape. 2. Most importantly: This type of closeout (longer steps vs short choppy steps) is designed to take away the SHOT but is more likely to give the DRIVE. At younger levels, USE CHOPPY. Help defense is much worse at lower levels and the drive will be a much easier basket than a semi-contested 3. At higher levels, you HAVE to take away the shot. Hope this helps!
I feel like I should add one more thing here. Defense isnt hustle grabbing rebounds steals or blocks. It could be as simple as taking a passing angle away. Dont put ur all on one defensive play. Js think abt any open spots on the floor, if u can fill em or tell ur teammate to fill it for u. Lastly, Communicate pls
Can you make a video on Jabari smith jr and how he plays off ball offense. I was watching some of his game and he played really well without the ball and I think a lot of people would benefit from it
Will you ever unhid the Derrick Rose & Tracy Mcgrady Running Mechanics and feet mechanics videos they was very helpful for my development as a hooper Only see em on Andy Hoops video
yoo can you make a video on how to read the defense like when to change directions when to snatch back when to pull up

COMMUNICATION! Demand your team to talk to you on defense and talk back, clearly and efficiently. Very important aspect and not often talked about
