I love this. I laughed a little when you said dont do pet portraits if you dont want to... I just went through that I tried to push myself to do it but I stopped painting cause of it. It wasn't good trying to force myself in that direction. I felt it took my creativity and there was no style. Maybe I'd do it occasionally if I could make it not boring.
