So sorry for that, some people are ass hats. You are doing such a great job reviewing, and even a better one reacting, couldn't have been easy to stay spoiler free, bless you!
I was waiting for the reveal of Michael O'Hare at the beginning and your reaction! It is so sad he was not able to continue in the series after season 1, and continue acting, due to his illness. I had an inkling you would cry upon seeing him. 😁
I feel your feels when Jeff Sinclair comes back into the picture. When I first watched this, I knew this was a big game-changer, and just on the heels of Kosh's death . . . And it was *fantastic* to see our beloved Jeffrey David Sinclair once again . . .
For me - this, right here, is when B5 moved from being great & brilliant show into a genre defining piece of magic. Perhaps even re-defining serialized shows as a whole. It's so, so good - every little piece fits perfectly together.
Go back and rewatch Season 1's "Babylon Squared" after seeing both parts of "War Without End". It's a trip seeing how many of the little details match up in episodes over *two years* apart. I can't think of any other show at the time that had been willing to play the long game and pull it off the way B5 did.
The show is thoroughly planned in every detail. That what makes it great in comparison to those that are renewed from season to season and stretched to infinity as long as the cash cow gives milk. The only never show of this quality, I know, is Dark.
Yeah. Having a middle part of a story air 2 years before the first part of a story is shown took some guts. The hilarious thing is the 2 episodes that preceded Babylon Squared. Total kudos to JMS.
What's even more impressive is how JMS tied these episodes together so well despite changes that weren't planned such as Sinclair being replaced by Sheridan. Still my favourite show.
Ha. It's 100% an understandable reaction to watching Farscape to never trust a multi-part episode. And yes, the emotions of Interludes and Examinations are still fresh, but seeing Sinclair again (as well as your excitement for him) goes a long way to making up for any stress that comes with the words "Part I". Well, that and Zathras. Always good to see Zathras.
My favourite episodes of Babylon Five. You're the same as me at this point. Highly emotional at seeing Michael O'Hare again and able - after all these years - to remember all the dialogue. That just shows of the incredible writing JMS is able to produce for these characters and this series. Just . . . putting words in exactly the right place! The music score is also just incredible.
I was looking forward to this episode (together with part 2, that ending is jaw-dropping) to see your reaction. When I first saw B5, this was the point when I realized how different this series was from the ones in that era. Of course, there are filler episodes that can appear anywhere, but the connection between this and B5 Squared showed so much planning ahead.
It's absolutely delightful seeing you get put through this emotional roller coaster ride! I cannot wait for the next parts! I can only imagine what your face will look like when this is all done!
Oh yes, like many others I have been waiting fore your reaction to this moment revealing Entil'Zha, and you did not disappoint. Yes, he has the Ranger mark - he is, in fact Ranger One (Entil'Zha). - and Delenn's statement is quite something.
I've been waiting a long time for this episode. Knowing how you felt about Sinclair. Your reactions showed some pure joy, sadness and a word, if I may, that I believe exists only in my native tongue of Portuguese "SAUDADE" a feeling of warmth and longing and missing someone or something, of love, and loss, of permanence and impermanence. That reminds us to enjoy who and what we have while we have them. Your tears are our tears, and your love our love.
Oh wow, that emotional break down when you saw Michael O'Hare pull back his hood. I will admit, when I saw this episode back in 1996 it made me gasp in surprise. I'm guessing you're still working on the upload for the second par of the first part...wow that looks odd when you actually type it out. ;) Anyways I often say this, but I truly love your unabated passion when you watch this landmark TV show. Thank you for all your reaction videos both in the past and in the future. Be well.
I remember watching this as a child when it premiered back in the 90s. Since then, I've met very few Babylon 5 fans. It's refreshing to see you appreciate what is considered by many to be arcane (and very character-driven) science fiction. You still have another two seasons to go and some TV movies to watch (The Beginning and A Call To Arms certainly stand out), so there's certainly a lot for you to enjoy. Happy watching.
The crazy thing about this is that when Babylon Squared was written, JMS did not yet know that Sinclair was not going to still be the Captain. And yet he’s still going to try tie up all the wibbly wobbly timey wimey.
I highly recommend you watching the interview with J. Michael Straczynski where he talks about Michael O'Hare. I personally think it is one of the most important things to watch about B5 that isn't B5.
I attended the "Wolf 359" 4 day conference at Blackpool's Norbreck Castle in July 1997. This was after season 3 had been broadcast in the UK but before season 4. It was effectively a Babylon 5 conference with the vast majority of the cast and main production staff present. It was wonderful, but there were two or three notable omissions from the programme - G'Kar and Ambassador Sinclair. Imagine our delight when they also made an appearance! I'd never been to a scifi conference before and haven't since. It couldn't be surpassed.
"I'm probably going to cry like an idiot." Yep. "Who is he?" Wait for it, wait for it... "Sh-" And there we go! "Oh I can't do this, I can't do this!" Fortunately for us, yes you can. 🙂 Cherish moments like this Medusa because they can only be experienced once. Babylon 5 is an astonishing series and eminently rewatchable, but you can only ever have reactions like this the first time around. It's a genuine joy to be able to share yours with you.
I have to say your reactions and emotional investment is fantastic to watch ... I’ve had the same reactions when i first watched the series and it still gives me goosebumps .... you are gorgeous and I cant wait for your next post …. Thanks for all your efforts
I have waiting for this story for so long with baited breath, so far your reactions have not disappointed and I look forward to seeing it all for the first time again through your eyes.
Just to say my heart went out to you. Taking a week off so you could recover, then being hit with all the feels again with the reveal of Jeff’s name on the envelope. You said something like “I can’t do this…” and i responded to screen “Pause the episode… you need a moment.” - Your joy as Delenn revealed the Whitestar footage from 6 years ago was rewarding. Cannot wait for your reactions to the full story of War Without End.
I loved Michael O'hare as Sinclair so much as you do and I was waiting for your reaction as the hood was pulled down and was so touching! I also always loved his deep voice and his classic movie star presence!
The storylines in B5 are so well written as well as how they are performed/presented on screen. "We are grey. We stand between the candle and the star......."
A reading tip for those who want to know what happened to Sinclair between the end of Season 1 and this episode: go get the novel "To Dream in the City of Sorrows". It's probably not that cheap to get anymore (it's been out of print for years), but it's well worth checking out to fill the gaps.
I remember watching WWE on the big screen in the main hall at the annual Trek con (it might have been a repeat following it's original TV airing). It felt cinematic in scope on a large screen. It also felt like we had finally made it to competing in the big League. Those were the best of days💖
Whenever you tear up it makes me remember when I first watched these episodes and I nearly start to cry as well. I am so glad there are people like you still learning about this show, enjoying it for the first time, with all the joys and sorrows it evokes. Thank you for sharing these honest reactions with us. It is a beautiful gift.
I've been watching your B5 video's for about a month, I've been looking forward to your reaction to the reveal at 2:17 since Sinclair left. Your reaction made me cry, hugs to you. I'll refrain from further comments until all your reaction videos to both parts have been released so that way I can't slip up.
This needs both parts to be watched back to back. This is such a good story as it ties up the storyline for a major character who had to leave the series for personal reasons.
Hey Medusa, Just finished a re-watch of the show myself, and seeing your reactions to a show I've been emotionally attached to for so many years is joyful. I was happy to see that from my point of view the show still hold up today, but to have it confirmed by someone who has never seen it before and from a different generation is the true test of its quality. You keep watching and i'll keep watching you enjoy it (that sounded creepier than i meant it).
Waiting for you to get here! (I keep saying that!)- I knew seeing Jeff again would get to you, it did to me when I watched it! This 2 parter is a fantastic story, & very well put together given what's gone before, looking forward to part 2 of part one, then parts one & 2 of part 2 (time travel gets confusing!😂)
Greeting from Berlin, Germany. I can so much relate to you and your reactions. I was in primary school when i started watching B5. I watched those episodes largely with my best friend back then. Seeing you reminds me of him. I did not understand everything as good back then but this episode was and is one of the most touching and moving episodes of TV ever for me. Still is like 20 years later. Watching you brings up those old feelings. Thank you for that.
It’s not that I like watching pain, but I loved watching you break down during Kosh’s death in the prior episode. That a show can evoke that kind of emotion, to me, is what makes it great, and that kind of response is what I watch reaction videos for.
I have waited since the beginning of this show for you to get to this episode and your reaction to seeing Sinclair did not disappoint. Keep up the good work.
Aaaaaaaand record time for breakdown! I am so enjoying seeing this show again for the first time through your eyes. I would give anything to go back to being a teenager in the 90s, watching this show for the first time all over again.
I have been binge watching your b5 reactions and got this far in one week. I have not seen many reactions to b5 but it reminds me how great the series is and why I re-watch it every now and again. It covers so many topics and issues from moral, religious and political ones.
Sinclair's reappearance. Epic. Sinclair's return to Babylon 5 after nearly two years. Epic. Sinclair meeting Sheridan. Epic. Ivanova' message from the future. Epic. B4's role in the first Shadow War. Epic. A White Star saving B4. Epic. Delenn's plan to save the past and the future. Epic. And this is only the beginning.
So great to have found this channel watching B5. I love that you are really getting into this show. I remember looking down on this show when it first aired. If only I knew then what an incredible show this was. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR and read the "canon" books. In this case, they are even better than the show itself. I refer to the three trilogies - PsiCorp / Technomages / Centauri plus the two books about A) sinclair's time between B5 and War Without End and B) Sheridan's wife's history and experience as archeologist. These books are so treasured by myself. I truly wish they could be made into Audio books with some of the cast reading them.
I have been waiting what seems like ages for you to get to this point! After seeing your reaction to the last episode I figured the waterworks would really start flowing this time. I'm on the edge of my seat to see your upcoming reactions, it really is a joy to see someone this emotionally invested in it. All I can say is buckle up, because you ain't seen nothing yet!
"And 'C', nothing GOOD comes out of 'two-parters'!" Us - Um? . . . Yeah . . . about that. (Well . . .you'll see.) Great episode. Great two-parter. Great review. And, aside from a few "minor" inconsistencies, it is rather impressive how well JMS folded THIS into the events of Babylon Squared.
Awwww I've been looking forward to you getting to this one! You were still having a hard time with the previous episode though, this story has you hooked and invested even with a week's break. I'm going to see part 2! If you ever do a second run through of B5 in the future, one of the things that will really satisfy even you who pick up so many details, is how much foreshadowing there is in earlier shows. The story is master crafted.
First time seeing your channel. I love B5 and your reactions are making me remember the first time I watched the series. Welcome to the greatest sci-fi show ever.
I think you can start to see the connection between Benjamin Sisco on Deep Space nine here. They both become religious figures to an alien race. They both love baseball. They both started out as commanders and became ambassadors. And they both fought a war against powerful mystical aliens.
I have been so looking forward to your seeing this episode. But, surprise! This isn't a two part story, but the second half of a 4 part episode. Suitable for a story about Babylon 4.
Please believe me, every bit of this series is worth it - there are some hard parts to be sure but trust that by the end, the whole journey will have been worth it all. I can say no more without spoiling but it really is worth it.
Interesting (non-spoilery) fact: this was planned from day 1 - go back and look at The Gathering and see what Kosh says when he meets Sinclair. But in the original story (before Sinclair left the role as lead and Sheridan was introduced) this was apparently going to be the series finale.
That comment that Lenier makes to Delenn: "but it must be done or the dream will die, and countless others will die with it" Does anyone else think that comment is a little subtle dig that actually Delenn will die too?
Due to spoilers all comments are now held for review before being approved by a channel moderator. Thank you.
Seems we are watching the episodes at the same rate. Great show and love your honest geniune reactions.
So sorry for that, some people are ass hats. You are doing such a great job reviewing, and even a better one reacting, couldn't have been easy to stay spoiler free, bless you!

So, Medusa. Remember when we all kept saying that Babylon 5 gets even better?
This would be one of those times..
These are my two favourite episodes in this season of B5.
These two episodes are probably the biggest pay off in television history.
@@peterampee-kleisius I'd still put Severed Dreams above it (the ep where B5 declares indepenence), but its certainly not a bad choice.
Season 3 is peak Sci-fi.

one detailed that was missed, Delen doesn't touch Sinclair's shoulder when he takes off his helmet at the end.
Given all that Michael O'Hare had gone through, there's a beautiful calmness and simplicity to his acting in this episode.
Ha. It's 100% an understandable reaction to watching Farscape to never trust a multi-part episode.

Somewhere JMS is doing a proud evil laugh.
At least there is symmetry
@@matthewteague623 And probably crying as he does so as well.

Delenn: "Do you trust me?" Medusa: "Yes." Lol
Even now, these two episodes gave me goose flesh. So well crafted.
Goose FLESH? I'm not sure if I hope that's a regional phrase or something you concocted... I've only ever heard the term "Goose Bumps" O.O

Mind blown. It takes great effort to offer no spoilers during Babylon Squared. This is what I love in a time travel story - completeness.
There is nothing wrong with crying. The Aztecs called it a "sacrifice of tears", and also it's healthy for your eyes to cry.
It’s not that I like watching pain, but I loved watching you break down during Kosh’s death in the prior episode. That a show can evoke that kind of emotion, to me, is what makes it great, and that kind of response is what I watch reaction videos for.
This is so sweet. Thanks for keeping the memory of this show alive. Won’t lie, this makes me feel old.
The midpoint in the show, and the pin that holds the whole story together! Watching someone hit this two parter for the first time...a privilege!

I've been looking forward to your reaction of this...I'll watch after work later tonight.
This was the episode that I realised this show was special.
So painful to see a new B5 video up before work and having to wait all day to get to watch it. This lady is a joy to watch.

I must have watched your reaction to Jeff's return about ten times by now. When you said who is sending these letters? My face was like 😏.
This was the two parts I mentioned, I left no spoiler to it just that you would like it. Roll on part two.
I love the Babylon 5 series. ❤😊 It’s the only series with unique stories. 👍 I watch Babylon 5 series almost every other year over and over again. 😁😃
I think you can start to see the connection between Benjamin Sisco on Deep Space nine here. They both become religious figures to an alien race. They both love baseball. They both started out as commanders and became ambassadors. And they both fought a war against powerful mystical aliens.
Your emotions in reacting to everything are amazing! You're one of the best reaction RUclipsr out there!
One of the best episodes of the entire series... =D
Vorlons are allergic to straight answers
This is a three parter, Babylon Squared was the first part.
Glad you have nixed the spoilers, you're getting into my favorite part of the B5 story, loving your reaction. Hang on tight now 👍
Lovely to see the reveal through unspoiled eyes.
I was told beforehand he was returning.
It was amazing to hear that you had to stop a week because you were heartbroken only for 1min in the episode you start crying again ❤
That's B5 to you
I have been so looking forward to your seeing this episode.
If you haven't watched it yet, I think you would enjoy Fringe...
Though I'm so glad that you're watching Babylon 5, one of my all time favorites.
I remember seeing this on (UK) transmission, I jumped out of my chair when Jeff showed up!
One of the Best 2 parters in the Entire Series you will LOVE part2 :) enjoy
Interesting (non-spoilery) fact: this was planned from day 1 - go back and look at The Gathering and see what Kosh says when he meets Sinclair. But in the original story (before Sinclair left the role as lead and Sheridan was introduced) this was apparently going to be the series finale.
In the original Gathering Kosh does not give that greeting: it was the remastered pilot that included it.
I've been waiting so long to see your reaction to these 2 episodes. Can't wait for part 2.
That comment that Lenier makes to Delenn: "but it must be done or the dream will die, and countless others will die with it" Does anyone else think that comment is a little subtle dig that actually Delenn will die too?
I love this episode and your reaction to it brings back memories of when I saw it many years ago.
