+Megan Bowen Thank you so much for your videos! Please tell us how Koreans approach sexuality? Do they have sexual relationships before marriage? When they marry do they have an accomplished sexual life?
I love her! She’s inspired me to transform some of my favorite Filipino foods into vegan friendly alternatives. Still tastes great & easy to make. Thanks Mommy Tang ❤️
"So if you don't like Korean food, don't move here." Haha! I lived in Korea for 3 years and always walked through the shijang but was always too intimidated to shop there. I hoping to be back in Korea and I will definitely shop at the shijang and cook more Korean food.
i used to be worried about going to south korea one day and not being able to eat much due to me being a vegetarian, but thanks to watching your videos i don't really have that irrational fear anymore, thank youu
Its not as easy as say England or America, but if you what you're doing it isnt that hard. And if you're vegetarian you won't go hungry, although meals will be a bit hard at times you can always buy tonnes of snacks
If you aren't OK with fish be a bit careful since they use a lot of fish sauce and sometimes chopped up fermwnted fish in kimchi. So if you aren't OK with that be careful but if you are you will have a yummy time.
It's the opposite of here (Canada) basically. Small, local businesses and markets are the most expensive... going to the farmer's markets in my city are more expensive then going to the fancy organic stores. The bigger supermarkets and stores are almost always cheaper. Though there is an awesome Korean foods store close by. They are pretty expensive for some things, but they actually import everything from Korea. So I can find stuff there that I can't get elsewhere in my city. And the owners are the sweetest.
You're like me... after I've been listening to & speaking French for a while, it's hard to get out of the rhythm of the language when speaking English. You start to fall in love with speaking the language.
I'm probably never even gonna move to south Korea, except for holidays maybe sometime, but I still watch your videos every single time as if I am because everything is just so interesting that you say.
I remember in one video you said that you have IBS and I would like to know how do you cope with it in Korea with medication or the food? I have a similar stomach condition and I would like to visit South Korea one day. Plus, if you take medication, what medication do they have in Korea for that? I know in the USA they have tons of meds for everything but in South Korea, I know that they don't allow all types of meds. I would like to know so that I know how to cope with my condition in South Korea.
I find that instead of using meds, its better to clean up the diet. in my case. Whole plant foods not fried no extra addes oils helps. potatoes, rice, beans, fruit, vegetables. Been eating that way for 7 months and no problems anymore. and lots of water form the extra fiber.
Oh ok. Unfortunately, I have to use meds and clean up my diet to eliminate the problems. Although, I do cheat every now and then but for the most part I do watch what I eat. Thnx for replying.
I am also in your boat and plan on visiting Korean someday soon but I am worried about the type of foods they serve at restaurants and shops. More than likely ill have to buy vegetables and cook my own food once im there if possible.
Everything there is extremely spicy, so be careful with that. But I'm sure eating vegan can help. I do have a vegan friend with IBS but he eats a ton of junk food, fried foods, sugar, drinks soda instead of water...so, it's not surprising that even eating plant based hasn't helped him. But WFPB usually helps to remedy a lot of ailments.
Yeah.... I'm still pretty happy to know that there's a way to get Western ingredients in Korea. I want to move there and experience the culture but my culture pretty much revolves around food so it'll be comforting to have it even while I'm away lol So I think It's well worth spending extra for. lol
I absolutely Love Maangchi, I started following her last year when I'd looked up how to make kimchi - she is so cute and saucy, I love how she talks to her audience and the awesome foods she cooks. I made my first pot of noodles because of her.
I love maangchi! I have her new book that shows you how to make Korean rice alcohol lol. Though I may never make it cause the Korean store sales it fairly cheap.
Megan, when you're vlogging in English do you ever overhear people talking about you, wondering what you're doing, not realizing that you can understand Korean?
Love this video! Very practical. Funny thing though, I lived in a really small town for two years and a lot of the produce in the market was just as expensive as the grocery store. And this year I moved to Suwon and haven't been able to find a local market in my area. . .so strange. There also aren't many kimbap places in my area. . . maybe I just haven't found them yet. I'm used to everything being walking distance.
this is very informative. I made my firest trip to SK last March and it was amazing! The next time I want to go to Jeju. Thank you for all of you videos.
Thank you so much for this! As a fellow vegan who is moving to Korea next year, I'm really appreciative of your recent food videos (all of your videos actually) as they're helping me feel less nervous about what I'm going to eat there. Last time I visited Seoul, I had a bit of a hard time. :) Thanks again for your fantabulous videos!
Megan you should make cooking episodes if you haven't already sorry I'm a little new to the channel but that would be amazing to see what you cook over there all the time. Will keep watching :)
nothing feels better than after a long late night out partying and getting only 5 hours of sleep to wake up and get a notification for this video it made me thrilled hahahaha 😂
hey Megan how long have you been living in Korea and how did you learn you don't even have much of an accent I can tell you adore Korea so much it's awesome
Your tips are really helpful and nice. Loveee the short hair btw. Also I'd like to thank you for your pics about exercising and stuff, because of that I was inspired to do so myself and now I applied to the gym and I honestly just love going there so thanks so much! x Esther
Megan, thank you so much for the info on shopping and cooking! And also thanks for the English-Korean cooking blog suggestion; it will come in handy while I learn Korean. :)
That market looks amazing! All those beautiful fresh foods mmm Maangchi is great, I've been watching her videos for years. Not only does she explain things well but she's also so much fun ^__^
I knew it !!! I saw your comment once on a video recipe of Maangchi. I was so excited to see you there. I have been a subscriber of her for a long time and she is awesome. Thanks for the video Megan, and you look beautiful like always. 😊🙏🙏🙆🙆🙋
Wow this makes me want to see you cook some delicious vegan meals! I Bet it would be a great inspiratio to try something new. Keep making awesome videos ♥
i wish you'd show us next time you're making some dishes ♡ if u have time haha that'd be fun to watch too!♡♡ thanks for this video! i hust followed corey and marie as well! ♡
You are one of the people who make me want to move there even more!!! But it has to wait but I do plan on visiting with my son in maybe 2 years. But the ultimate goal is to move there. Ughhhhh
Loved the video! Basic Question: when you buy a lot, for example a big bag of rice, or box of sweet potatoes, or even just a lot of produce, how do you easily get it back to your home when you use public transportation or walk?
Asian at Home is a really good RUclipsr/blog that makes Korean food in English. I've made so many recipes from her, though finding the ingredients can sometimes be a pain because I live in a smaller city in the US.

Megan! I'd love to know more about your rice/lentil/bean mixture! Do you mix them all at once and cook them all together? I'd think that some beans would have a different cook time then rice?
I have a question for you. When you first started learning the language, did you find it impossible to remember the words? I've been learning for 3 weeks now, and I still can't remember how to say thank you, or sorry, or any of the basics. But I can speak French just fine... hey a good idea is to try to video your self having a conversation. then you can send it to someone or post it here. I know it sounds strange but i talk to my self all the time and try to use the basic words like thank you and sorry etc over and over again. if you'd like i just started learning we could do video convos to each other just to get feed back and that way you are using what you learned. this goes to anyone interested. :) its how I learned chinese :)
Am I the only one who says the beginning intro with Megan every time? lmao it's so much fun
I do it too😂😂

+Megan Bowen Thank you so much for your videos! Please tell us how Koreans approach sexuality? Do they have sexual relationships before marriage? When they marry do they have an accomplished sexual life?
We discovered that the Mangwon open market is walking distance from our new place in Seoul. So good! I'm so excited to start cooking again.
yup Ive been to mangwon market with my friend haha
It's a really good market! It feels quite Korean too, despite being so close to the likes of Hongdae and Hapjeong.
Literally can't get enough of Megan's videos. 👌💕

you've got a perfect life
"So if you don't like Korean food, don't move here." Haha!

+Yume Matsushita i can sometimes convince myself to have fish if it's necessary, so thank you for informing me on that!!
Most of the time you won't even know its there since its used for salt and depth like soy sauce. So even if you are eating it you won't know its there
I love your videos!
love your videos too! youve got a great voice
what's going on here?
oh my gosh maangchi is amazing. I fangirled sooo hard when she responded to me once.
It's the opposite of here (Canada) basically. Your expressions when you describe your favorite foods always makes me laugh... Very self explanatory
WORD!!! I just came across her channel about a week or two ago and I’m trying to binge watch all of them. Love her personality
Yessss I've been watching Maangchi for year! Shes so sweet.
You made me hungry. Thank you.
Can you make a morning routine please
OMG! Maangchi! I started looking up her recipes when I was back in Romania, now I'm living in NYC. Maybe I'll stumble upon her on the street.
Maangchi is the best!
You're like me... after I've been listening to & speaking French for a while, it's hard to get out of the rhythm of the language when speaking English. You start to fall in love with speaking the language.
I love Maangchi! Her videos are very informative and entertaining. She's very thorough and super sweet!
I need our local grocery store to get with the program and sell deskinned garlic cloves
Do you live in USA? stater bros or most big store chain carry them in vacuum (air tight) seal. Try asking your local store, they may have them.
I'm probably never even gonna move to south Korea, except for holidays maybe sometime, but I still watch your videos every single time as if I am because everything is just so interesting that you say.

I'm not gonna lie, but I think you two have the best RUclips channel in Korea!
I love maangchi! I have her new book that shows you how to make Korean rice alcohol lol. Though I may never make it cause the Korean store sales it fairly cheap.
I've been watching maangchi for years!!! she's an absolute sweet pea and has such a bubbly personality. I got my mum into watching it too :)
Another fantastic video, Megan. Thumbs Up for MAANGCHI!!!!! Her cookbook is amazing too.
Yea thank you very much for doing this video
Megan, when you're vlogging in English do you ever overhear people talking about you, wondering what you're doing, not realizing that you can understand Korean?
it would be cool to get a video on life as a youtube in korea and how Koreans see it
Natalia Hernandez agree!!
not really haha these days there are many famous vloggers and people film a lot and stay with camera in hand so no one blinks an eye
ChoNunMigookSaram Thanks for the response :) That makes sense!
I love the black beans too! I always buy the ones from the korean market by me because they owner makes them herself! They are suuuuuper tasty!
I'd love it if you and Carson took us actual shopping and then did a food haul!!!
Love this video! Very practical. Funny thing though, I lived in a really small town for two years and a lot of the produce in the market was just as expensive as the grocery store.
I love Maangchi as well, always follow her recipes when I make Korean food. Love your videos, Megan, really making me seriously think about coming to Korea😊
Isn't Kimchi usually made with fish sauce? Or are there different types and you just ask for the one without fish sauce? Or do you just eat regular kimchi?
I was about to ask the same thing, I'm really curious
Kimchi is the main banchan (side dish) in Korea, but there are different ingredients type of kimchi depend from province and buddhism. Not every kimchi is made with fish sauce, or with rice flour or... ect.
But me, I love Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do Kimchi they are made with fish sauce.
she probably has to buy special ones now. it usually has like little prawns and other animal stuff in it
Mangchi's recipes are great!
I recognize the ladies of talktomeinkorean
Hi Megan!
I was waiting for a video like this 😄
Thank you!
From a fan in Honduras ✋😊
Greattt video Megan!! ive been learning korean for 2 months i pretty much know how to read and ive learnt alot of words from kpop & kdramas & also variety shows.. i just need to be able to set them in sentences.. but im working on it haha.. anywayz. Oooh I know that song in the beginning! It's Omona! Haha 😁
It's always interesting to see the similarities and differences between Korea and Japan~
Same basic essentials! But yet the final dishes end up so different haha
Megan I started watching you when you only had 20k followers. So happy your channel is growing. I also love Maangchi. Her Hotteok recipe is da bomb!!
thanks for all the support :)
Hey Megan, have you watched MommyTang's videos? She makes vegan korean recipe and mukbang videos!!! I think you'd really dig her especially since you're vegan now! ^___^ Her channel is one of my faves
+Maggie x she's vegan :) she talks about it in many of her videos and I've been following her vegan journey for a while on Instagram, even before she made a RUclips channel
+Maggie x mommy tang is vegan but her family isn't. She's pretty peppy and kinda spicy but in a good way! I really like watching her videos.
A lot of very useful information that I will never use.
Yay a new video is up! 💗
Megan! I'd love to know more about your rice/lentil/bean mixture! Do you mix them all at once and cook them all together? I'd think that some beans would have a different cook time then rice?
Did you know those people in the beginning?... If not, bruh you have stones lol.
stones??
+Amaia Ford balls, nuts, apples, testicles
They're from talk to me in korean lol :)
The people in the beginning were the TTMIK crew.
She actually works with Hyunoo on a Korean television show teaching English, so yeah, she's knows them, lmao.
the beginning is so cute to me omg
the fact that you mentioned maangchi💕💕💕
I have a question for you. When you first started learning the language, did you find it impossible to remember the words? I've been learning for 3 weeks now, and I still can't remember how to say thank you, or sorry, or any of the basics. But I can speak French just fine... Idk what it is about this language that makes it difficult to stick in my head. I get the words mixed up always !
same
I'm having the same problem :( IT'S SO HARD! I always forget words...
+Brantley May
Same with me! Though I study, I can never remember how to introduce myself. I can only remember hello because I hear it on a We Bare Bears episode.
hey a good idea is to try to video your self having a conversation. then you can send it to someone or post it here.
