My most favorite singer, Joni James. I was about 14, still Cherish her sound. An angelic voice, such emotions and feelings of f love. 😳 😳 😳 we love you, Joni, and to our Editorial person ❤ 💙 ♥ 💗 💕, thank you for sharing ❤ 🙏 😊 ♥ ☺ 💕 ❤ 🙏
I saw her when she had a concert at Rocky Glen park in Scranton Pa. - sure brings back memories - those were the days my friend - I generally don't play those old songs because they make me sad - thinking what was -
Yes I. Remember. Her. First song. It was. December. Of. 1958. I. Was. Us Arny. Getting. Ready to. Go. To. Korea why don't you. Believe. Me. Great. Song. I. Was overwhelmed
I learned of Joni James 2nd hand as a small child when I was given a stack of 78 rpms by my aunt in the very early sixties. I was mesmerized and still am by all of those, but Joni's voice and interpretation stand out, like she was singing especially to you. What stands out are the lush, superior arrangements of the orchestra and "background" singers that paint the musical landscape and setting in which Ms. James could flourish. From the strings and then the French Horns on My Love, My Love for example. Joni was about th e song and lyrics, not the operatics of modern singing divas. Composer-conductor Anthony "Tony" Acquaviva, the arranger on these recordings, became her husband in 1956. Joni just passed away this year on Feb. 20, 2022 at age 91. the warmest. prettiest singing voice of her era...she could melt a rock and make it cry or swoon....
