Recorded in 1966, this album track should have more recognition, since Al sings it beautifully. R.I.P., Al Martino, a fine Italian American crooner (born Al Cinci in 1927, died 2014 ) who was discovered by neighborhood friend Mario Lanza, who was first offered to sing "Here In My Heart", but Mario was kind hearted enough to give it away to his friend Al Martino, who was unknown before 1952. "Here In My Heart " launched Al's career, becoming a #1 hit in both the US and the UK, first issued on D.L. Miller's independent label BBS Records, located in Philadelphia, and distributed by Miller's Essex/Pala Records, which later became the budget labels Somerset, Alshire, and Oscar Records in Burbank, California. The hit got Al a contract with Capitol, which originally lasted from 1952-1955. Al re-signed with Capitol again in 1961, and re-recorded "Here In My Heart" in Full Dimensional Stereo with the same arranger he had in 1952 (Monty Kelly.) Al's second tenure with Capitol Records lasted from 1961-1981, and was more successful with the label from 1963-1975.
