Kurowashi Keiko - 6.14 and 6.15, 2024

This was a productive weekend! We got all beat up. Jared was off in Atlantic City, winning a bout against former Maegashira Osunaarashi! That was so badass!
On Friday, we didn't have many novices. Tristan and Levi have only been doing Sumo for a couple of months, but they're demonstrating growth! Levi is beginning to make connections between Sumo movements and techniques, and what he's learned in Aikido and Daito-Ryu Akijujutsu. Tristan is looking more confident with his footwork and is experimenting with techniques as he works to coalesce his style if Sumo. Leo, our youngest member and Youth Winner of the Koshiwari challenge, has been working to master the fundamentals.
Our newest guy, Dakota S, stayed home this weekend. John also had told us he'd be gone this week.
We had Drew Bramlett come through and beat us up! It was awesome to see him. I think the last time we saw each other was at the Yama seminar, and we haven't fought each other in about a year! It felt good to fight him!
Dan came to both keiko days! After some rest, he's come back with Fighting Spirit burning bright! The development of his Oshi style is beautiful to behold!
Matt B is back from Europe! He made his presence known with some hard fought victories won by swift techniques. Nick H has reached a new level of technical prowess, and is working to refine his theory. Trey has a broken finger. It's pretty brutal! He did warmups and exercises, but had to sit lut bouts. Understandably so! Rachel also sat out on bouts, but worked very hard during warmups and exercises, showing her committment to her training.
It was a great weekend for #TexasSumo!
