Do you also do the tile work? If so, do you use grout in the corners or do you caulk? I'm getting ready to tackle a bathroom in my house and I've run across differing advice. The plan is to go full Schluter fan-boy and use Kerdi board along with a Kerdi pan and curb, Kerdi corners, using kerdi band on any joints/screws. 12x24 Porcelain wall tiles and hex marble mosaic for the floor. I had assumed I could just grout everything since in theory the Kerdi would keep me water-tight and flexible but I'm not certain. Thoughts?
Yeah, we tile also. I started using a sanded caulk that matches the grout against the ceiling and all the corners because I wanted to be safe than sorry. I've seen the corners crack before just using regular grout. That's awesome though that you're doing it yourself. I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions feel free to reach out.
@@KnightBrothersConstruction Thanks for the info! I uncovered a real treat today while removing part of a sandstone floor in this bathroom. To give you an idea of this bathroom layout, there's room for a full shower (on the original slab) then the remaining floor is half sandstone and the other half is slab. So slab, sandstone, slab. No idea why they did it that way but here it is. I break out the jackhammer to remove the sandstone and under the sandstone is ANOTHER layer of sandstone. My plan is to leave that layer, clean it up, prep it, and just go back with self-leveling underlayment to match back up with the current slab. Have you run across something like that before, and if so, am I on the right track? Thanks in advance!
@@richrocks1516 I haven't ran across anything like that particularly but sounds like your on the right track. Just make sure you prime everything good for the floor leveler so it has a good bond.
Nice job!
Thanks man! 🤜🤛
