One of my favorite actors ever! This looks phenomenal! Having his daughter and Dyan Cannon involved is perfect! Thank you, BritBox!
Jason should win a bafta for this it was like I was watching Cary Grant.
I really like what Dyan Cannon has done with this biography of Cary Grant. Its apparent she really loved him and did right by him. God bless her.
It's fantastic. Jason Isaacs is SPOT ON, SURREAL.❤👏🏾
Absolutely agree! Jason Isaacs nailed it!👏🌟
As a Cary Grant diehard fan, I was very pleasantly surprised by this one, despite the usual tv/movie style story-telling cliches and the glossing over of some key events.
The lead guy pretty much did his best and it paid off as a very respectable representation in so far as you can get. They did their homework beautifully in all respects. But, yes, a little too glossed in many instances.
Recommended though. Highly.
I will probably enjoy watching this, but there is no Cary Grant like the real Cary Grant!
But he looks good in the role.
It literally says “Cary Grant is a character” a character that Archie Leech plays in public.
Can't wait Hollywood legend 🙌 👍🇬🇧
I do love how they portrayed him. he far from perfect but he also human like anyone else. Archie Leach is a man with a tragic childhood who struggle a lot to find love and happiness even when he seem to have everything when he became Cary Grant. He finally found the thing he was looking for when his became a father.
So it's based on a real person... Then I guess Jason Isaacs isn't going to be evil this time... I have trust issues since Castlevania, and Star Trek though...
I do like Jason Isaac’s.
Jason Issac's what? Don't leave us hanging!
laura looks gorgeous here and her american accent is spot on
0:52 That does not look or sound like Audrey Hepburn 😂
Even Tony Curtis' comedy spoof in 'Some Like it Hot' was more convincing 😫
Neither of these actors come close to the good looks of the real Cary and Dyan. It still looks interesting!
You know that the actress playing Dyan Cannon is his daughter, Jennifer Grant. I wonder if anybody twigged to that
@@Mykelaugustinereed1963 Not true - it’s Laura Aikman who plays Dyan Cannon.
@@firenze5555 you’re right somebody told me it was his daughter but obviously isn’t. I love the Internet don’t you?
@@Mykelaugustinereed1963Jennifer Grant resembles Cary Grant and this actress does not look like her. Plus that would be creepy as the real daughter of Cary to be play acting as his lover and wife.
Dude, doesn't look anything like Cary.
Cannot find the show in my Britbox, not in US yet?
A classic anecdote begins with a journalist who is working on a story about Cary Grant with a tight deadline. He needs to gather some background information, so he sends a telegram to the publicist of Cary Grant asking about the age of the star:
HOW OLD CARY GRANT?
But Cary Grant intercepts the message and decides to send his own reply:
OLD CARY GRANT FINE. HOW YOU?
I don't think Jason can get any hotter 😍 🔥
Where can we poor people watch "Archie" without paying? What happend to CBS, NBC and ABC showing these films?
Don’t get the casting, though the actress playing Dyan Cannon resembles her. Isaacs is a good actor, but playing Cary Grant?? Hmmn…
Hmmm…. No.
I'm a big fan of Cary I hope this turns out good
When will PBS air this miniseries
Think we'll see scenes from some of my favourite Cary Grant movies - 'Arsenic and Old Lace' and 'His Girl Friday'? Oh and of course there's 'Brining up Baby'
Nope not those movies. this trailer very much tell you which movie they show as this is a middle aged Cary Grant and this is more about Archie Leach the real person behind the Cary Grant persona.
Love Cary Grant so much, but heard very sad and unbecoming news that he was deeply flawed and not so lovable
Are you referring to his bisexuality? If so, there's nothing flawed with it, isn't it?
Like he said “everyone want to be Cary Grant, even I want to be Cary Grant”
See it this way, Cary Grant is a persona Archie Leach is a real person. He is a human being who not perfect.
@@Wutzibutzi100 No. He was known to be extremely miserly and cold to his family. Not unique but not at all like his persona. I loved his movies.
@@Wutzibutzi100 Considering Grant's ex-wife and daughter's involvement in this mess, I would be flabbergasted if Grant was portrayed as anything but straight.
@@Wutzibutzi100 I think it was speculation, and probably not true.
Will this be coming to The United States ?
Archie I BritBox Original I Exclusive Trailer 1905pm 16.11.23 we couldn't afford the air fare... so it might have to swim... archie noakes. never heard of him. i hear he took loads of mind expanding drugs, though...
Hi Kelly, Archie will air in the US on December 7th. 🙂
@@BritBox I BET THEY CANT WAIT..
@@BritBox Thank you! ❤
@@JJONNYREPPWhat are you talking about? Cary Grant’s original name was Archie Leach.
interesting story, was Cary always fresh out of the make-up department, or was this production's artistes sloppy? The round forehead tan line, and dark powder on the hair at the same area was confusing... the caked foundation was weird too. Dyan's hair should have looked over teased and bigger, shame Aikman is nearly a dead ringer!
Just binge watched this. A pretty standard bio-pic with a lot of inaccuracies. Jason Isaacs does an admirable job in an impossible role. While watching his performance I was imagining Jon Hamm in the lead role. That would have been interesting. Isaacs has a lot of Cary Grants mannerisms down pat but doesn't have the amazingly good looks and magnetism of the superstar. I think he did a particularly good voice impersonation. It's worth watching. Four, roughly 45 minute episodes.
This reminds me of two other bio-pics of super famous stars that were not very successful. James Brolin as Clark Gable (Gable and Lombard, 1976) and Rod Steiger as W.C. Fields (W.C. Fields and Me, also 1976).
Jon Hamm??? Yikes. He acts like a cardboard cutout. Whew!😂😂😂😂😂😂 Isaacs is fantastic. Touché
Cary was into LSD... I wonder I'd they'll show that
He tried it experimentally. I don't think he was a regular user.
ricky gervais should give a shout out to jeremy brett the Sherlock Holmes! We really thought that he would have been a better host of the 2024 golden globes! When reel life meets real life in hollywood it is funny!
Let's hope they mention his love-relationship with Randolph Scott.
They do address it in the ‘maybe or maybe not’ kind of way. it a very short scene.
also that this is based on a book that Dyan Cannon wrote about her life with him. so it gonna be about their marriage more than anything.
That was speculation that was probably not true.
Mostly a fairytale based on publicity photos they were required to take for a movie studio, where they're both in their shorts by the pool. That's all it takes.
I would like to know when it will be coming to Canada, i hope before the USA because in Canada when are more british oriented than the US, Let us know when it will be available in Canada, being a commonwealth country,
British "oriented"?
Completely@@AidanOhanlon
@@christophewarnier306Not in Quebec.
@@christophewarnier306 Cary Grant WAS a Naturalized US citizen.
He doesn't get the voice right and when it's shot in his childhood they've got a posh English accent instead of the Bristol dialect where he grew up. He should be proper gurt lush and cheers drive. At least I'm getting this from this trailer
His accent was neither, since he did try to change it.
Pretty lame, they try to turn it into the Dyan Cannon Show. I guess this is what happens when you make something about a long-ago actor, try to involve the people who knew him in production of the series, and the only people still alive who can do that barely knew him at the end of his life....looks like his vast career in the 1930s, 40s and 50s won't get much attention, relatively.
I will carry on watching it despite the PCness, and the bad casting,
We couldn’t manage it. The casting too jarring. And an excruciating script.
Archie I BritBox Original I Exclusive Trailer 1906pm 16.11.23 anyone got the britbox or is it something we pretend to have signed up to...?
I have Britbox. Lots of excellent British shows. You should try them. Might expand your tiny mind.
@@aussieragdoll4840 Comments on ‘Archie I BritBox Original I Exclusive Trailer’ tis all repeats, madam... i can see those repeats on ch4 or itvx website... trouble is spiteful mongs plc runs those sites and erase anything of interest eg: sci based channel itvx had featured with such shows as space:1999 and sapphire and steel airing, randall and hopkirk etc etc... my "tiny mind" is a closed shop. i doubt i would learn anything from spitting image that the show hadn't taught me before... what new and exciting and innovative shows do they feature that aren't shown on generic tv, then? list them..... p.s i cant afford satellite or brit box. mere fripperies...akin to you whinging about the unemployed and how they send their monies whilst yer driving about in gas guzzler complaining hey are charging for tolls and congestion fees etc etc... it's purely relative.
No, you don’t have to pretend to sign up, you actually have to. Well worth the money. You are too clever by far.
@@carolwhitney3773 Comments on ‘Archie I BritBox Original I Exclusive Trailer’ 18.11.23 0137am you haven't extolled the virtues of britbox yet. what amazingly innovative tv shows can you discern on brit box that you can't locate on normal plebian televisual entertainment scheduling?
Sorry not in the least interested Cary Grant created a beautiful legacy so let him rest in peace.quite frankly the would be if she could be star Dyan Cannon thoroughly forgettable except for her association with Cary Grant cashing in on his fame and legacy for me anyway reeks of her always obvious....... lack of class.Sorry just how I feel.
To put it mildly , casting was a real failure.Apart Dyan Cannon's impersonator actress, none of any other resemble the original persons.Everything else including costumes and all this stuff regading those days was really good ,although it seemed to me that episodes could be a little more than this.
We lasted 20mins….
Turgid script aside, Jason Issacs looks like Hughie Green for the most part.
And nobody will ever watch it on ITV X because nobody can ever get it to load!
Oof. Doesn't look like him, doesn't sound like him and his EX-wife produced it. Wonder if she comes off well...
No no no no, poor casting! The voice is all wrong, the accent is what MADE Cary Grant and this actor is nowhere near Cary’s voice! Plus he doesn’t look like him
I would love to see a movie about Cary Grant. However, using Robert DeNiro as Cary Grant is ridiculous (why don't you just use Flip Wilson to portray obama?) He's a ranting and raving liberal, Pres. Trump hater, who hasn't the class that Cary Grant had in his pinkie finger!
Wtf are you talking about? DeNiro isn't in this?
Yes, he is!!
Who do YOU think portrays Cary when he's older?
@@pegatheetoo1437 The actor playing Grant is Jason Isaacs. DeNiro isn't in this, not even unaccredited or a cameo.
@@AspasiaDGordon All of the trailers I've seen have DeNiro playing the older Grant. I saw his name flash quickly up on the credits once but not since. The older Grant IS played by DeNiro.
