    Only 30% of the NBC affiliates had this show (KPRC in Houston was part of that few). Neil was the 90's version to Michael Larson (Press Your Luck) & Ken Jennings put together.
    Neil set the all time score of $20,700 + the car.
    At the opening of the show, Dan Doherty was in the hot tub located in front of the slot machine.

      I had a similar performance, although I can't find it online. I won $19,000-plus in the main game and a Ford Escort station wagon in the endgame (getting "opulently" in three seconds) for a total of just shy of $30,000. A couple of weeks later, the producer had me come down to Caesars to test a new endgame. I won the car seven of 10 times. He paid me $50 for my time. -- Joe Hawk, retired sports columnist/sports editor, Las Vegas Review-Journal

    A guy named Warren had the second best performace in one maingame I've seen on the show. It was on his third maingame, but he never won the bonus round, which by that point changed to guessing five scrambled words in 30 seconds, one each of 5,6,7,8, and 9 letters, to win the car.

    I think I speak for everyone, when I say that this is exactly the kind of show - or, for that matter, this is THE show - that we need to educate the young minds of today, with their vocabulary.
    After all, I like said, before, even if it isn't the 1990's anymore, we can still make it happen; Family Feud got remade dozens of times, especially since that stupid John O'Hurley became a recent host. We need to get this back on the airwaves NOW - ESPECIALLY on GSN - before we all become illiterate!

    I never liked that rule that it had to be the word the producers chose. IMO, if the contestant found another valid 9 letter word within the 9 posted it should have counted. (not sure if it's ever happened) and Ahmad could say something Like "and you're in luck there are 2 possible 9 letter words among these letters).

    • @lobstertexas
      @lobstertexas 7 лет назад +2

      I went to UNLV during the Spring of 1993 and the tail end of that semester is when they taped a bunch of Caesar's Challenge eps all in one week; the game show nerd that I was, I was able to attend four of them. During one taping I sat in the row directly behind the producers' desk and could clearly see a computer screen. During the bonus round, as the balls came out of the hopper, a guy was keying in the letters into this DOS-looking program, and after a certain number of letters, it started offering suggestions of word matches. On the episode where I was able to see this happen, the first matched word from the hopper was a really obscure and uncommon word, I believe it was "ACERBATES" -- as they entered more letters that rolled out of the hopper, a larger word list started to build, and suddenly they arrowed down to highlight the word CAFETERIA, which is the word that ended up onto the game board. So that's why I always assumed they say "a word that the producers choose", meaning, they didn't let the computer just automatically pick the very first dictionary-certified word possible -- you're right though, I never considered the possibility of multiple 9-letter words to be the reason why they said that disclaimer...
      Then again, consider the several times people on Wheel of Fortune have tried to solve the puzzle with an answer that fits the letter pattern on the board but is incorrect; you could technically say the phrase on the board is "producer-selected" ;)

  • @Wheeloffortunefan999
    @Wheeloffortunefan999 16 лет назад

    and also who was the defending champion on this episode? (assuming that the winner on the previous show did not win the car in the bonus round, because i know that with this format they stayed on until defeated in the main game or until they won the car. if they did win the car they'd retire and they would have three brand new contestants on the next episode.

    • @raymondswenson5529
      @raymondswenson5529 3 года назад

      The defending champion was Steven.....the self declared "eating champion". He, and the lady in the middle actually managed to win a few questions when they could beat Neil on the buzzer. But Neil knew the words as soon as Dan spun the letters. Also won every lucky slot leading Ahmad to say "That noise is KILLING me!"

  • @Wheeloffortunefan999
    @Wheeloffortunefan999 16 лет назад

    Off the topic for this game show, the person who usually pull down the lever, (in a hot tub), is now a professional poker player and he is profiled in ESPN's "World Series of Poker (WSOP)" (commentator says a "former game show host?") and showed clips of "Ceaser Challenge". IMO this game show is a springboard for him.
