Very good video! Loot 2.0 clearly needed for game balance and longevity. One point is missing for me: balance bonuses like focus/ health on damage dealt between 1-hander+offhand and 2-hander.

I agree the enchanting/customization is very simplistic.
I think your suggetions sound good.
Id might even go further with ”white affixes” also. We have things like sharpness, durability, stamina cost, impact/poise ”damage”. These could be brought into it. Like maybe one could craft the greatsword to cost less stamina, be quicker, but loose some dmg, poise dmg and durability. Etc.
Then add the enchant properties to it.
And like you say it would be awesome if one could craft a weapon bit by bit from a lvl 1 white weapon to eventually have it become a unique from all the crafting and enchanting.

I agree 100%. I think that another idea is to have stats doing more than one thing. Ex Str to increase equipment load by .25. So every 4 point of str also give you 1 of equipment load. Dex to increase armor, this will represent your ability to dodge/mitigate damage, and so on. I don't want to see nerf unless pvp is added to the game.

As Helldivers 2, nerfing is taking the fun away when the ability or Stat is rendered unless due to simply nerfing or disabling the ability all together.

what's super important is to be able to rearrange runes to different slots.
for example: at the moment the ''blink'' rune is placed on different buttons on several pre tuned weapons.
I would like to always have it on the same slot though.

Enchant system is the most shallow system in this game, it’s sad. Also the affixes we got on gears are exact opposite of what those Dev keep “talking” in Rhykker’s interview.

  • @magnusdanielsson2749
    @magnusdanielsson2749 Месяц назад +3

I think also they really need to have the stats be needed for more things. Like you need strength to equip heavy armor, dex give certain bonuses etc.
Making the stats have impact on other relevant things will work against extreme min/maxing and in turn handle ”too strong” builds.
I think it would also make it more interesting.
Diablo 2 had a nice balance regarding this. Path of exile is also a good example.
Borrowing more from table top rpg games could also make it more interesting. DnD, Eon, Dragonsbane, GURP etc.

They did say they're going to rework the stats system, so that may play into everyone dumping points into equipment load. That said, there is no reason in the game now to ever wear cloth armor, and leather is only useful when you're leveling and don't have a higher equipment load. I like the idea of armor types having intrinsics, for example all cloth armor should give focus regen rate, leather armor should give stamina regen rate, heavy armor should give health regen rate or flat health. Alternatively, they could make it so that those enchanting mods only roll on those types of armor.

Nerfnerfnerf, in other words fine tune stuff. At the moment the game is crazy imbalanced with many builds and most of them use focus-spam. So it's very clear that focus needs some changes if they want to keep that soulslike-aspect of the game. Also with a heavy imbalance in builds it will be near impossible to make good future content/challenges and so forth.
Since the game is in a very early stage, not sure what will happen with the talent trees ithink it's pretty darn good to tune stuff down for now. See how it goes and what people are able to build with restrictions.
I do like the armor thing, to add passive effects for light and medium but that all depends on how equip load will work in the future. If they tune that down, it will be a way bigger investment to use heavy armor hence maybe more balanced? Oh also crafting your own gear gotta be way cheaper since you after that need to enchant it and thats 100% random, but iam a enchant enjoyer thats pure gambling :D.

Yeah about the armor/weight problem I like how they do it in games like new world
less armor means more damage inflicted to enemies, more healing for yourself and more dash/speed
more armor means less damage taken, slower movement, less healing, less dash but less prone to be crowd controlled or knocked back
this would be better for a pvp mentality also

I dunno. I decided to try out a Faith/Int build yesterday so made an alt and equipped the Sinner's Crown which only requires 16 of both stats. Upgraded it as much as I could (before it gets to the rarer upgrade mats like bear paws) and now the thing is literally one shotting every regular mob in the game. Some things definitely do need nerfs of some kind. I don't think this is working as intended. We'll see if it holds up though once I get to the Crucible.

The entire discussion about armor is meaningless if you dont nerf current one button spamming that occurs at level 20 or ealier. I think the community are expecting a methodical souls like gameplay. That is true only for the first 10 hours. Thrn it becomes single button Diablo style gameplay. Ultimately I dont care what the devs do, it's their game. But if their intent is to have combat be soulslike then they need to fix it. This is achieved through balance. Balancing requires buffing or nerfing skills to balance the various skills. There is no incentive to use any skill other than a rune attack that is spammable because they currently stunlock the bosses or one shot everything else. THIS IS ALL ACHIEVABLE VERY EARLY IN ACT 1. That is clearly a power balance problem that needs to be addressed if you want to maintain a soulslike game experience.

I feel that the devs are focused on youtube vdeos showing off broken builds and then nerfing things while I am nowhere near killing the last boss. Now I just have given up. So either i am forced to follow content creators OP builds, or be content with leveling up and then stop playing which feels extremely dissatisfying. When i look at builds on youtube everything revolves around generating focus and using OP runes. So if you are not building for focus generation and OP runes, you are screwed. I really hope the devs will make the focus and rune builds less powerfull while making the core of the game stronger, which is dodgine, attacking with a weapon, parrying, etc. Its would be such a waste if the only viable builds are only based on focus generation and a couple of OP runes..

They are moving in extremes rather than real balancing. But they are just trying to have the game function, so I get it. Plus, the max level for mobs in the open world is 15-20, so it's hard to judge other than Crucible to an extent.

The reason for the request for the nerf is because then this game just becomes Diablo, Path of Exiles, etc... and you basically see one button mashing while walking through mobs of enemies again. I hated those isometric ARPGs because they're BO{RING and silly. This was the first isometric ARPG I got in decades, the last was Champions of Norath, because it was more grounded and less cheesy as the one button Dynasty Warriors mob nukes. When No Rest for the Wicked becomes like other isometric ARPGs then it no longer has an identity. Bro, if you want to one button through foam enemies that aren't threatening go play Diablo 4. PLEASE don't advocate for making this game like those others.

Wrong, if it happens here at level 20s to 30s it will happen at any level because of power creep. The problem is abilities that allow button mashing in the first place AND incompetent enemies that can't react, like foam sponges from any other IARPG. It shouldn't be a thing to one button mash through enemies at ANY level, otherwise it will be possible at ALL levels eventually.
If the devs were smart they would take a look at the enemies and buff how they react to button mashing. FORCE players to interact and actually play the game. Or jsut take away effects on certain enemies like being frozen or make them less staggerable. And if they don't like that, there's a thousand one button mash IARPGs that already exist to play.

With all respect, I kinda disagree. Once you get some good gear, you are quite literally an unkillable god. This game feels like if dark souls started off good, but you were able to acquire self healing, infinite focus, gear that makes you 4000% more powerful than every enemy in the game. To the point you can just walk through every encounter pressing R1 at worst, or endlessly spamming abilities.
IMO, they need to go back to the drawing board and consider if this is going to be either a dark souls hard and slow methodical combat system (what I personally hope for), or just another ability spam Diablo game. They need to half perks on gear to 2 max, cool downs on ability spam, remove health/focus gain on hit perk, and like nerf most of the rings by 50%- 70% in most cases ( one god rolled ring is like better than all 4 in dark souls combined). I enjoyed the first 10 hours of the game, and then it became Diablo combat. There’s no way to balance this when the difference between someone with ok gear VS god rolled gear is like a 10 fold margin in power.

@@dhreed82 dark souls did not give you this much power imo, and you would almost never run into someone like that in coop. You could just dupe runes and build some glass cannon min max build for RUclips content, but doing so would soft lock you out of PvP in that zone. Mainly though, the game is structured completely differently in dark souls. You are meant to run through it once, then keep doing NG+ cycles, or create a few chars at different levels to coop at diff stages of the game. Ascending weapons or stats past a recommended area soft locks you out of PvP. The progression feels nice. NRFTW, seems like it wants you to endlessly keep farming for gear and materials and do dailies etc. Nerfing stuff does not kill a game, I don’t know what you are talking about. Destiny 2 constantly nerfs stuff and it’s managed to keep a fairly well balanced game for so long, most games actually do. Yes sometimes things obviously need to be buffed too, but just looking at the current state of the game I don’t know how you could conclude the balance is fine.

@@FervorGaming I can’t make any clear determination that the player is too strong or weak in end game, but neither can you, or anyone else. All I can do, is leave feedback on how the game is, right now, in its current early access state. Sure I’m min maxing in the sense I have put on the best loot I have found through my playthrough (and crucible runs), but is that not the entire point of a loot based game, for like everyone? Put on the best gear you have? I can speculate on endgame though. If you have a build (that is not hard to get) with some lifesteal/focussteal and healing bonus perks. All I have to do it survive the bosses strongest hit, then hit him like 3 times with a dagger and before the next boss attack I’m at full health, full focus etc. that won’t change in endgame as you have scaling stats that will keep your health/damage relative to the bosses. Infinite ability spam that will keep a boss 100% stunlocked is unlikely to change unless they do some balancing, or put cooldowns on abilities. I’m not saying this because I hate the game, I love it and want it to succeed, but I can’t even imagine how bad coop would be if they launched it tomorrow in this state.
