Hi Dre, I was one of the beneficiaries of the category-based draws (French Language Proficiency). I was part of the first draw last July 2023 in express entry and my score was around 450. I'm 40 years old and at my age it's really hard to reach the score of 500 especially if you're OUTSIDE Canada. I also considered the international student route but didn't want to leave a well-paying job. I also find it very risk due to the ever-changing rules that is why I took the TEF Test d'Evaluation de Francais (French Language Exam) and scored CLB (7) seven in all four parts, which made me qualify for the Category Based Draws. Not to discourage anyone but French is a very hard language especially the pronunciation and grammar. It took me more than 5 years to achieve CLB (7) maybe because I was just studying part-time. However, if you really want to migrate to Canada and you are willing to do whatever it takes, I suggest you start learning French. It might be a hard language to learn but it's definitely possible to achieve fluency in more or less than a year, as long as you work hard and practice it every day. Just imagine saving up more than a million pesos compared to studying French in the Philippines (Berlitz or Alliance Francaise de Manille) which will cost you around 200,000 php or less. Go for it felllow kababayans. Nothing is impossible if you really want it. Para sa kinabukasan!

Salut Maam Rihanna, C'est moi, Manong Jovy. You're comment should be pinned here hehehe. I'm so glad na napatunayan ninyo na it is possible at totoo talaga na malaking tulong ng French to boost your chances of coming to Canada at a lesser cost than IS. You are the living proof na tama yung mga shinare ko sa aming interview. Naway marami pa ang tumulad sa inyo. May I know kung saan kayo nag-aral ng french?

My son is bilingual, he learned French Quebecios as 2nd language at Royal Military College. He is now a navy officer serving with Canadian Armed Forces. RMC is a free university education with pay that many Pinoy-Canadians have not fully discovered yet kasi kokonti lang sila sa Academy kumpura mo sa mga Indo-Canadians at Chino-Canadians.

Ways of getting into Canada with pathway to permanent residency evolve as years and decades go by:
70’s - 80’s family sponsorship including brothers sisters and cousins. They capped / stopped that.
90’s: Nannies and caregivers. They capped / stopped that.
    Now: International Students - capped.
It’s means to say that when one door closes, another one opens.

@@elbertanecito6797 I haven’t really applied for LMIA exception however, I’ve read that you should prove your level is CLB 5 or higher by providing test results such as but not limited to TEF, TCF or TEFAQ, or that you studied in a school where French is spoken. I believe you’ll be interviewed as well. So you really have to convince the officer of your french ability. On the other hand, I suggest you hire a licensed consultant so that you’re well guided on how to proceed properly. Bonne chance! :-)
