This makes me want to cry. I spent years with a severely over active bladder seeing doctors and specialists and being given medications that just added to the problem. I have recently gone onto hrt due to lots of other symptoms and within a few months the bladder problems disappeared. Not one doctor or specialist was able to connect the dots with hormones and that needs to change. thank you
It makes me want to cry, too! I even had surgery (urethral sling) when I was 45 (I'm now 60). The surgery didn't work, in fact it caused pain in my vagina, AND it made my incontinence worse! All the years I suffered, and all the doctors who never, ever suggested my symptoms were caused by perimenopause. I'm now in menopause, and suffering so many other symptoms now. I wasn't given any information on HRT, or even vaginal hormones. I'm actually really angry about this!
So important and educational once again! Thank you very much: Here in Germany I am spreading the word in my circle of friends, family and doctors. Women have suffered too long in silence - STOP THAT GASLIGHTING !!! 😮
HRT is a lifesaver, feel like I am 20 again. Happy ,healthy energised, have Mirena coil and estrogel on my arms daily. I am the healthiest I have ever been in my life. Exercise every day, work 100% capacity . Life is great now I am on hrt.
I am 68 and finally on Testosterone, IntraRosa, and a vaginal estrogen in addition to Progesterone and a Estradiol patch. Hoping my GSM symptoms will resolve. I Listening I realize my symptoms started so much earlier. I recall in my late 40’s and 50’s being told that there was traces of blood in my urine back then. They could never find anything wrong.
Louise, Ashley, thank you so much for this. I've had UTIs since I was about 17. Now I'm post-menopausal I have crippling GSM symptoms too. Local oestrogen is still not working but I am trying different products to see if I can solve the many problems I'm experiencing. I only wish GPs could be made aware of all this - it is so frustrating that most don't know anything about it at all. Louise, why can we only have estring for two years? I've found it really helps with the dragging womb pain I've been experiencing, although not with the other symptoms. Thank you.
47 year old woman here. I had no idea about any of this! My jaw is on the floor. Thank you so much. I'll be contacting my doctor asap. Thank you so much
I totally agree the belief that "most women don't have significant symptoms" likely comes from the fact that menopause symptoms are often incorrectly ascribed to other causes. We don't just reach our 40s and then develop six or seven individual and separate new "illnesses" like urine infections, depression, joint pain, insomnia etc etc...
This, I absolutely agree! All the years I've spent suffering through so many different, debilitating symptoms. And no one EVER said it was due to perimenopause/menopause!
I had a lightbulb moment when I found out my GSM was due to my hormones by listening to Dr Newson. I did buy Gina over the counter in Uk and when I came home to Toronto begged my GP here to prescribe it. Now I am going private using Prosper Menopause clinic and use Intrarosa. My symptoms are so so much better. Life changing.
I have had this for 4 years, my My health care professional. Ha ha just wants to put me on antibiotics for a urinary tract. Infection, I'm so glad you ladies are putting this out there. Women have suffered for far too long with this problem at the hands. Of health professionals. Do you have a wellness centre in cornwall or devon that I could get to?
This was so good! I started experiencing urgency after my first UTI in 14 years. Doctor said I had either overactive bladder or IC. It is wasn’t until I did more research that I realized MY ESTROGEN COULD BE LOW FROM BREASTFEEDING! I’m so glad my doctor prescribed me low dose vaginal estrogen. (I had to ask for it. No one even suggested it to me.) Hoping it works!
It’s barbaric to make women wait a full year after their last menstrual cycle before providing HRT yet this is the common requirement. Many potentially dangerous issues crop up in the years prior to a last period (depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, substance abuse, self-harm to name only a few) let alone the year you are actually menopausal! We must find a way to provide women treatment throughout perimenopause rather than make the first year of menopause for any sort of help. Making noise and demanding treatment may be pivotal in making the heal care industry sit up and pay attention.
In Denmark vaginal estriol is over the counter medicine. But testosterone for women is very hard to get also prescripted. In Island, I have heard, Testosterone is standard in treatment for peri/menopause.
I have found vagurix pessaries 10mcg twice a week is not enough. I now take them every other day and it has helped alot. The pain before this was excruciatingly. I still have some symptoms but its alot better. Xx
Thank you so much for this, I am on vagifem 10 and have the mirena i.u.d. I feel good as I am post menopausal . My G.P said that I know longer need my mirena, would welcome any advice from anyone in a similar position ❤
I wonder if this can happen to men when they have low testosterone. My husband is only 40 and has been struggling with frequent urination for years and hasn't gotten any help from doctors. But his testosterone is low
Hiya, just wanted to let you know. I live in Taiwan and I can buy Premarin (vaginal estrogen) over the counter here. I do have to order it and wait a couple of days to get it, but I don't need a prescription. It costs the equivalent of 9$ for 14mg.
@@r8chllettersShe uses Premarin vaginal cream, which is localized and is not systemic estrogen therapy. No need for progesterone with (any) localized, vaginal estrogen product.
Thank you so much Brilliant video. Please can you give me some advice . I have 12mm endometrial lining and had bleeding so I was given progestin and oestrogel . I was getting night anxiety so I was put on Evorilconti . I have had many uti s over the years and incontinence issues . I’ve just been given antibiotics and they didn’t work . They’ve just given me monuril .one dose the third lot of antibiotics I feel like this hasn’t completely cleared . Sorry this is so long my question is if I use vaginal oestrogen will this thicken the endometrial lining predisposing me to cancer as the plan with me is to thin it below 11 mm . It seems a great idea but just worried as now my bleeding has stopped using evorlconti . Thank you so so much
Thank you. Iv always had problem holding in my pee after children but the past 3/4 years its gotten worse in the last 6 months even more so. I have cut down my caffeine but it still hurts to hold it. I have told me gp and it seems like i tell them too much! I have recently requested estrogel for my symptoms now i need to request vaginal one aswell
Why women in uk don’t get help with menopause the is nothing and no clinics only RUclips it’s disgusting the isn’t even gynaecology in uk only if you are sick you can be referred. And then the waiting list I am scared to be old in uk look different country like Germany or France uk is like Kazakhstan sorry

I'm spreading the word too! The battle's on!
Lawsuit time.

@christinarelf4040 where did you hear it can only be used for 2 years? I’m pretty sure that’s not the case

It is nothing short of malpractice to perpetuate suffering and what does malpractice result in? Usually a lawsuit.
A great interview, thank you❤

Wow! Very enlightening and informative! I was never offered hormone treatment despite an obvious need.

If you have a uterus you also need progesterone. Always best to see a specialist and determine the regimen that will help you overcome your symptoms.
you don't need progesterone if only put in the vagina

How do you know what to take? Estrogen? Progesterone? Etc.....

Been using ovestin but still my urethra is excruciating pain.
Can postmenopausal women who have had reproductive cancer still use typical estradiol to prevent UTI's?
Can't thank you enough for the information you share. You enabled me to successfully challenge being gaslighted at 69 .
Urologist waiting time 1 year in uk it’s a joke
