My mum came to visit us here in Canada from England and couldn't believe the serving sizes of our restaurants, having lived through the second world war and rationing she was astounded that people eat that much food, all you can eat buffets were the norm here before the pandemic. I'm a frugal person or as we say in England " How much ? " meaning we are not paying that price...I can make a meal out of scraps if needed, I can sew, knit, bake and cook no problem. Tea was only drunk outside of the house by truckers on the side of the road from a tea cabin...coffee wasn't drunk at all never mind 3 times a day at Tim Hortons !! The telephone was a red box at the end of the street lol
I always love your live shows! Tawra, when you start to say something that suggests you're about to rant I know that it's important to listen more closely as it will be full of wisdom!! Love it! You're doing a great job together... thank YOU! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
I think that people have forgotten that bones have the cartilage on them and that slow cooked makes the broth gel which is "bone broth" and so good for our bodies.
If you are looking for a deodorant and not an antiperspirant, try Crystal Mineral Deodorant Stick Unscented. It is a solid salt in a deodorant container that you apply while your pits are wet or you can wet the salt prior to application. It works great. Although the container says it is good for one year, I am still using the same one and have for YEARS albeit I do rotate with an antiperspirant especially in our Texas summers. Our local Walgreens has it for $7.49. Worth every penny.
I have made my own deodorant for years. I mix coconut oil, baking soda and arrowroot in a bowl. Mix it to a thicker consistency. The batch lasts for months. Never smell bad.
The recipe is 5 TBSP Coconut Oil, 3/8 Cup Baking Soda, 3/8 Cup of Cornstarch or Arrowroot and optionally, Essential Oils. I don’t follow the recipe anymore, just throwing the 3 ingredients together to make a consistency and amount that I want.
Prego even had a no added sugar version which I love. My husband loves Prego and he could eat a whole jar! I have recently started making my own pizza sauce which he loves more than the expensive Don Pepinos in a can. And it's easy. I may start making my own spaghetti sauce, too.
Out of curiosity, I looked at the Ragu I had and the chunky chunky tomato, garlic and onion version has 3g of added sugar per serving. The kicker is the Walmart pizza sauce: No Added Sugar! So if you just wanted to use pizza sauce for your spaghetti sauce, you’re good…because there’s no added sugar.
Even the Save A Lot here has butter for $3.50 a pound. That's crazy! Prices are climbing crazy. Sales and clearance is the way to go. The sales will be more than what we used to pay but better than what they are offering now.
No eclipse seeing for me. I won’t be anywhere near it. I saw one in my area years ago. It was cool to see. Typical normal day after it was all over. You’ll all be fine.
I’ve only discovered y’all pretty recent and I’m diving into your videos. My husband and I have been on the same conservative page for 34 years, thankfully. I still enjoy and appreciate other conservative likeminded folks and often pick up tips here and there. I’m very much enjoying your channel. And btw, we are in South Georgia with a fish camp in Florida. My husband and I laughed so much at your visit to Florida! All the different things you asked about that have become so commonplace to us. Thank you for sharing!
I save on power by pressure cooking cuts of meats and then browning them to finish cooking. We like grilling but pan sautéing or broiling works. I use pickle juice as the liquid in my electric pressure cooker to cook and flavor poultry.
We’re supposed to have visibility of the eclipse here in SE Indiana. Some people are renting out spots on their property to view it lol. If I knew it wasn’t going to be rainy, I would rent out spots in my field 😂. Our youngest who works at the library said they are doing eclipse viewing parties that day 😂
The chicken quarters have so uch fat on them we get about 25% fat by volume. The bones in chicken drumsticks and thighs get used for stock; thry dont go to waste here.
Family of 9 here. We spend $500 a month on groceries. 2 adults and 7 children from 2-14. I love those 10lb bags of chicken leg quarters. I get 1 a week and make several meals like chicken noodle soup, chicken pot pie, chicken and rice, chicken and dumplings, white chili, and more.
I’ve been making my own deodorant for several years now because I don’t tolerate a lot of the manufactured ones. It’s such a simple recipe. 1/3 cup baking soda, 1/3 cup starch and 1/3 cup coconut oil ( the solid although I’m warm mine up just a bit so it’s easier to mix). I put it in some small canning jars and it lasts me quite a while and it works well.
Our deodorant is Milk of Magnesia. I add 10ish drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil & to dispense I use a 3 oz flip top squeeze bottle. Give it a good shake. 2-3 drops of the mixture per side. If I work out even a little bit I will need to shower before bed. But this works somewhat effectively in a pinch.
Ive been making my own deodorant for years. Aluminum free baking soda, corn starch, coconut oil. You can add a few drops of essential oil if you want....lavender or tea tree oil,
I love Prego!! Wish I could get it for $1!! I just wait for a good BOGO sale and stock up. I add a little bit of grape jelly to mine, and it equalizes the acid. I've done splenda also and that works too.
I like having pickle juice when I have a sore throat. Drink about 1/4 cup a couple of times a day. I don't buy tomato speghetti sauce... I buy the white "alfredo" type sauce. I also check for ingredients & most of those that I've ckd have corn syrup in them.... so they automatically go back on the shelf. When I cut the corn syrup out of my diet - went down 40 pounds in 6 weeks with no other diet modification....
When potato chips, crackers and cookies are on sale, I buy extra and freeze them. Anything crispy, that’s sealed in an airtight/watertight package will not get soggy. I have eaten potato chips straight out of the freezer, several months after their expiration date, and they’re as fresh as the day they were purchased. If you don’t want them cold, just wait a few minutes before opening. I’m often asked how this is possible without the items getting soggy. What’s going to make them soggy? Nothing can get in. Somehow it’s hard to believe that something that went into the freezer crispy will come out crispy.
Unfortunately, I have a bad reaction to baking soda and most commercial deodorants. Ugh... it's so annoying! I use Lume because it's the only thing that works for me. But it pains me to spend that much on deodorant! Also, not gonna lie... I finally broke down one day recently and bought a jar of Rao's to see what everyone has been raving about. I got it on sale, though. 😂 It IS really, really good! Probably my favorite jarred sauce. But it still isn't better than a pasta sauce recipe my hubby found that is cheap, easy and super good! I will make that if I have a little extra time. Thanks for all the great tips you give us! I'm trying to get back on the wagon again for saving more money again. And all of your recent videos have been really helping me!
Yes on the baking soda deodorant! Baking soda can work for some unicorn people, but causes terrible skin reactions for those who can't tolerate it. Having burning pits 24/7 is not worth it.
I don't care for chicken breast for the most part, so I buy either the leg quarters or just the thighs. The groceries are inexpensive here in Florida (I don't care for the word "cheap"), especially if you are not shopping at the expensive grocery stores. I shop Aldi, Walmart, Sav-A-Lot, and occasionally Winn Dixie, but stay away from Publix.
Hi Tawra, I live in Germany and always love Dove roll on deodorant but it’s now gone up to €3.45 which is ridiculous for me, I just get whatever is on offer which is usually Nivea roll on. I did buy the drugstore own brand of roll on deodorant for 60c but it didn’t work for me, as I do a physical job and I didn’t feel fresh. Why is deodorant so expensive? Over here special organic products can be as much as €7-10!
The problem is....there is added sugar in just about everything. That wasn't always the case. I do agree to limit food intake. If you can afford to buy the best without going into debt, go ahead. I use store brand on just about everything these days
I wouldn't think the manufacturer would want to pay for 14 tsp. of sugar when they can put in 1 tsp. One jar of sauce has 10 servings. One regular soda has about that much sugar. Also, the last eclipse had so many people traveling there, it was quite a traffic nightmare to get back for them, besides the problems looking directly at the skies. The local library had a large screen view of it and few attended.
i just came from the supermarket wise potatoe chips from $299 and now its $479. 😮 unbelievable good thing i dont buy these. and yes these are the big bags not the small ones
Tried the baking soda as well as rubbing alcohol. Did nothing for me. I sweat like a demon, run 10 miles a day and living in hot humid central NC only adds to it. I buy aluminum free deodorant at the dollar store. Works very well. And smells nice.
My grandmother used baking soda all the time. She lived in Georgia/Florida and never used regular deodorant and never smelled. If it can hold up to Georgia/Florida in the summer, it can hold up to anything!
nothing has ever worked better than the deodorant I use, it's milk of magnesia, super cheap and no toxic ingredients like regular deodorant has. Baking soda makes arm pits itchy, milk of mag does not.
Im single and I have bought the store brands of sauce but once opened I make it last a whole week. I think Americans in general just pour way too much Sauce on everything
Did you any additional onions or tomato in the avocado when you froze it. Or was it just the avocado. ?Then you add anything else you want after it thaws out.
She stated (not in the short clip) that she used lime juice, but not how much. Lemon and lime juice prevent items from turning black/brown. You can even use orange juice on fruit and achieve the same thing...especially bananas.
My daughter thinks I’m cheap also but I have always been frugal long before I was o a fixed income and always managed to have a savings where they are making a fortune and waste so much and have no savings
I tried doing this with the guacamole and it did not do well. it was really mushy and brown once thawed and tasted weird. I was really disappointed. I was hoping this would work for me. I am horrible with leftovers and figuring out using up foods before they go bad, but I am working on it.
My mum came to visit us here in Canada from England and couldn't believe the serving sizes of our restaurants, having lived through the second world war and rationing she was astounded that people eat that much food, all you can eat buffets were the norm here before the pandemic. That caramel apple bar looks amazing. Gonna have to create one for my peeps.
I love your kitchen decor. You have a nice wholesome husband who is very supportive. I enjoy your shows .
I agree Tawra. But I have never liked Prego because it did seem overtly sweet for sauce. So I make my own.
I always love your live shows! Tawra, when you start to say something that suggests you're about to rant I know that it's important to listen more closely as it will be full of wisdom!! Love it! You're doing a great job together... thank YOU! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

That is exactly why I don’t comment often. And that is one of the biggest things wrong with social media
My favorite is when you suggested Bacon on a potato as a meatless meal!😂
LOL true.
By the way, the website alone is a goldmine of recipes and ideas.
You didn’t tick me off, Tawra. You’re speaking the truth.
I found a recipe for Chief Boyardee original recipe that used carrots not sugar. On my to try list.
I'm in Nova Scotia Canada, and 1/5 of people here have no doc...so I hear u on the medical stuff.
I have made my own deodorant for years. I mix coconut oil, baking soda and arrowroot in a bowl. Mix it to a thicker consistency. The batch lasts for months. Never smell bad.
Do you add equal parts of the oil, baking soda & arrowroot? I'll have to see if I have arrowroot.

Aldi has the best price for butter right now, unless a store has a great sale.
Hi guys! I’m watching the replay. I was busy yesterday sitting at the hospital with my daughter that had eye surgery.
No eclipse seeing for me. I won’t be anywhere near it. I saw one in my area years ago. It was cool to see. Typical normal day after it was all over. You’ll all be fine.
I add extra sugar to all my pasta sauces anyway, because I like a non acidic sauce. I buy whatever brand is cheapest.
I’ve only discovered y’all pretty recent and I’m diving into your videos. My husband and I have been on the same conservative page for 34 years, thankfully. Don't buy Tyson!!
We are not to live in fear, the eclipse is nothing to "worry" about.
Great video!❤️💙💚
You are correct.
In Va got 11 pound ham at foodlion for 9.90
Yes, I make my own pizza sauce and before I add sugar to the tomato paste, it is more bitter.

I totally agree with the medical. We have been round and round and the stress really makes your illiness worse
Tawra that isn’t the tenderloin of the chicken. The tenderloin pieces are higher.
That is correct. The tenderloin is the inner part of the breast close to the bone. It is a separate muscle group.
But we can fake it anyway!
The chicken quarters have so uch fat on them we get about 25% fat by volume. The bones in chicken drumsticks and thighs get used for stock; thry dont go to waste here.
Baking soda tore up my armpits. It was in a homemade deoderant recipe.
Me too, took a while before they went back to normal. Never again!
You can get deodorant at the dollar tree. Why not just get it there. And soap and water is not that expensive

Tawra, I love the headband you're wearing. I'd like to find one that looks like a gray/salt and pepper braid.
Ive been making my own deodorant for years. Aluminum free baking soda, corn starch, coconut oil. You can add a few drops of essential oil if you want....lavender or tea tree oil,
I make my own sause
I also make my own sauce

Chicken breasts are different than chicken tenderloin! No comparison!

They have recipes online RUclips for homemade Raos and it’s easy . My husband likes it better jarred sauce.
Just curious as to why the live comments are not playing anymore? I watch after you live stream and I love to read the peoples comments.
I love chicken quarters! I make Soup and baked chicken with them
My….that thumbnail of that pot roast looks so good 😢
I buy the store brand spaghetti sauce..cheap but good!
If bread isn't hard (like it seemed like in the video), can you still make croutons?
I'm really curious if the homemade deodorant really works. An experiment would be great. ☺️

You should not look at an eclipse because it will hurt your eyes. We were told this at school in Australia. Melbourne Australia
Freeze the chicken bones to make bone broth
I wouldn't think the manufacturer would want to pay for 14 tsp. of sugar when they can put in 1 tsp. One jar of sauce has 10 servings. One regular soda has about that much sugar. I liked your video on laundry pods😊
I'd try the baking soda for deodorant. Deodorant has to many chemicals and the all natural ones dont work the best
My grandmother used baking soda all the time. She lived in Georgia/Florida and never used regular deodorant and never smelled. If it can hold up to Georgia/Florida in the summer, it can hold up to anything!
The Rao's is 6.88 x the price of Prego.
How do you freeze avacado?
nothing has ever worked better than the deodorant I use, it's milk of magnesia, super cheap and no toxic ingredients like regular deodorant has. Baking soda makes arm pits itchy, milk of mag does not.

Love your show. Learned a lot about saving money but my son thinks I am cheap
I get a similar response from family members. I have recently had serious issues with medical insurance so tight is getting tighter!!😮😮😮
My daughter thinks I’m cheap also but I have always been frugal long before I was o a fixed income and always managed to have a savings where they are making a fortune and waste so much and have no savings
Many of your recipes are online.....why do I need to purchase your cook books.
You don't. We put them online for people who can't afford them to help them out.
Just don't serve the potatoe with the bacon grease to a vegetarian
I react to baking soda. I break out horribly.

Baking soda made my arm pits red and sore.

Did you put lemon juice with it before you froze it? That would prevent it from browning
Why use sugar in spaghetti sauce anyway? Maybe that's why i don't like store bought spaghetti sauce.
Tawra, what deodorant do you use?
I save my pickle juice for my tuna salad and potato salad
The dollar tree has deodorant for 1.25. My dollar general has a one dollar section they have female deodarant for a buck.
I wish y'all would do Bible studies weekly!!

No, you'll get a burning rash😢
YES😂

1!!!!!
Mike try baking soda for deodorant
2. Tara you should try it and let Milke smell your armpits. Or smell your own armpits. Leave poor Mike alone
I would but I don't usually stink. Don't worry I'm not going to "make" Mike do it.
@@LivingOnADime Poor Mike
I freeze 🥶 I’m a freezer lol my hubby doesn’t appreciate that much because it looses the flavor

Give the bones to your dog
2 on deodorant
No I reckon stick to the deoderant
