Do you not have to follow the 2 to 1 rule for height to setback? Here in Washington state if you don’t follow that rule it’s considered a loaded wall and has to be engineered. I think almost everywhere has the 4 foot rule, you would think if it was for safety and stability it would be nationwide.
We sure do have to follow the 2 to 1 rule. I'll be showing in the next video that we did that, very good point. The bottom wall was about 3' 9" high at the lowest point and the grade elevated quickly... The top wall was just shy of 2' 6". With 5' between the walls, I stay within that rule which is (the distance in between the walls needs to be a minimum of twice the height of the wall on top.). And yea, the 4' rule is pretty standard throughout the country I hear. Thanks for the comment ✌
Found your channel yesterday and ive hoesntly watched 3 or 4 jobs in your playlist from start to finish. I find it full addictive and its fascinating work you guys do. Very inspired to get out in the backyard and just dig shit up haha. Cheers for the vids looking forward to watching all your vids. You now have a fan in Australia. Cheers boys god bless and peace
That's awesome man, glad you are enjoying the videos! This work got me addicted to it a long time ago.... LOL. It is good to know the videos are finding you guys in Australia, God Bless brother and thanks for the feedback! ✌
@TheChristianHardscaper do you have instagram? I tried to find you but I couldn't. You fellas should call your selves Elton John coz of the song "Benny and the jets" God bless brother
At the foundation we still have the 1/8 lean back but we push the blocks as forward as we can to touch the wall. Just takes playing with the blocks a little as you go ✌
Thanks for the feedback, the more I looked at it I was like (kind of different in cool way...) I still love to have joints dead center, just tough when the manufacturer puts you in that position. ✌
That's good to know. I see joints like that pretty often, just kind of weird most of these manufacturers force you to have to customize block to make joints line up half way. That should be the standard in my opinion (at least with a 1 size block style)
Your work looks really nice, I don't understand why so much is done with ready-mixed concrete and stamps in the USA. Your work with concrete blocks and concrete paving looks much better. Greetings from Upper Bavaria
Thank you very much. Poured concrete is much cheaper, so builders / home owners with a smaller budget tend to go with that option. Which is completely fine, totally different market. It is also why I am very thankful to my customers for investing into their property with me. Quality is key, and when you are consistently producing quality work it starts to build you a good reputation.
I’ll echo some others…the joints look just fine…no issues. I get what you’re saying too… but I think yer dealin with a OCD thing brother!!😎 I enjoy watching your work, both in quality and ethics! I’m still working on my little 20x18 (or so 😉) patio for the Mrs. I butchered the corners (amateur), and I’m no doubt doing things I’ll regret but… I’m sure it’s a project I’ll be modifying and changing for a couple of years to come! Keep em comin!! I really enjoyed reliving those 90+ degree July days on a day that we hit, I think 18 degrees not factoring the wind chill. 😁👊🏻
🤣 I definitely have OCD issues... It is a blessing and curse! 😂. I'm glad you enjoy the videos, I love the work I do and it is cool that others find it interesting also. Slow and steady wins the race they say, just keep chipping away at it. The best lessons I learned in my life were from hands on mistakes. It is the only way some times. It has been cool watching the clips as I edit, very funny! ✌
Ya my MT 100 sucks, I can only lift almost half pallets of sod, or like 30 blocks or so at a time. It sucks. But comes in handy since all the houses are so close. But my next machine to the list will be a full skid to move whole pallets.
Yea, that can be a pain but the MT 100 certainly is excellent in tight conditions. I have used one of those and many other manufacturer mini skids and I am not knocking them at all. But for me, I have mostly open / accessible job sites, so having the skid steer was the best move for me. And if I come across a tight access project, renting a mini skid is cheaper than renting a regular skid. So that was why I decided to go with a regular skid for my 1st machine. But hey, those mini skids are still great to have around, can't go wrong with having one in the fleet ✌
Thanks, nothing makes a wall look worse than an ugly drainage pipe coming through it. They just are not necessary in most situations. And yes, I spend a lot of money every year on 3/4 stone...LOL 🤑 ✌
If each course is keyed together and you’re using Geogrid then vertical joints only overlapping by a third isn’t an issue structurally. It just look horrible!
I hear you, the problem is that they make the corners 16" wide x 10" deep instead of 8" deep. A full block is 16", so a 16"x8" corner would keep the joint line dead center and solve all the issues. I don't get why they don't make them... But yea, no issues structurally for sure ✌
Love the winter edits of how your summer went ... nice use of machinrs to save backs!
Yea man, it is nice to have the time to chill on the computer and make some videos. I love operating equipment... 🤣 ✌

Did I see you applying adhesive for the geogrid?

Interesting . from Kay
The job is coming along good Kyle 👍🏻
Thank you, I really enjoyed this one ✌
With the 1/8 in back lean on the wall, how did you keep it flush up against the house foundation?

@@TheChristianHardscaper got it, thanks! 🤘
You guys do great work , would be fun working with you.
Thank you man, we try to have a good time no matter what. ✌
I think the joints not being centered looks fine. It's just different, but I still think it looks good.

Looking really good man 👍🏻
Thanks, this was a fun one! ✌
Does this wall have a setback or is it vertical ?
It is a vertical wall that has a slight lean back, so that it is not straight up and down.
Looking good!!!!! 👍👍
Thanks brother! 👍
It’s a new style with tile also to stagger them 1/3 instead of 1/2. It looks good I think.
Yea, been seeing it a lot lately actually. It definitely grew on me, kind of cool looking ✌
Unilock is the same for concord xl, 1/3rds for joint spacing if you use the corners which are halfies pretty much

Dear Techo-Bloc, please make a decent corner block. Not everything is columns. In fact, most things are not columns.

Anyone ever tell you that you remind them of a short Ben Affleck? Lmao, awesome channel my man! Great work!
I actually get that often here on RUclips, never in real life though...🤣 Glad you like the channel and thanks for the support. ✌

Amazing Wall, Trump should hire you
🤣 ✌
Excellent work discussing the 4" pipe not always being necessary. The amount of 3/4 you use must be pricey 😅

Anyone that has tried to un tangle string knows it is more disposable than its worth to salvage many times
That is for dang sure! LOL. Plus the more you use them, the less grippy and strong they get. A fresh string holds onto stakes real nice.👌✌
Trav, You keep making Rookie Mistakes...😂
One time I saw someone's excavator leak hydraulic fluid onto the granite patio stones that had just been laid as the arm was moving over them. Ha
Yea man, that stinks pretty bad... I have seen that before, can cost a lot of money.
