- 'Donuts’ is taken from our Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for the forthcoming movie KIN - our first feature film soundtrack. The sci-fi/crime drama, directed by Jonathan and Josh Baker, will be released August 31st 2018 and stars Jack Reynor, Zoë Kravitz, Carrie Coon, Dennis Quaid and James Franco.

Only Mogwai could name thier song "donuts" and still have it come off as badass.

Since the movie is Sci-Fi, the title could refer to a part of the movie where they talk about how space could be shaped like a donut or something. Just a guess though.

I was blessed to work in an Atlantic Book [discount] Warehouse in my early 20's. Longest job I held b4 jacking up in life. N e way, there was a magazine section and my boss got me into CMJ, which sounds all country, but showcased new, independent, and/or need to know bands. One disc changed my life, literally, which included a Sigur Ros song and also Mogwai's Sine Wave.
How I played and listened to music was altered forever for the better. Shortly thereafter was a Rolling Stone article on Rock Action. Tiny article, best piece done in the whole issue.

Can anyone explain such an emotionally charged track as to why its called "donuts" ? Bizarre but this track trances me out.
That's just what Mogwai does. One of my favorite songs of theirs is called I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead. Has absolutely no connection to the content of the song, that's just what they decided to name it. And those two are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to strange Mogwai titles. What matters is that they create beautiful music.
