I am from the Netherlands myself. "La mamma" was written by Aznavour and Robert Gall. A very nice version. But then I found out years ago (in the seventies) that Matt Monro had released it in English. I actually like his version better. My mother (God how I loved her) died of Chronic Leukemia in 1999. What a terrible agony she went through. I still feel the grief of her loss every day (I am now 62 years old myself). But I'm not the only one who feels such pain, many others feel the same for their parents. So I discovered this version and it was played at her funeral. The voice, the lyrics, the melody still go through marrow and bone. This song is really burned into my soul. RIP Mum, love you.
